Forums - Gaming - How PewDiePie Conquered YouTube

Soon, PewDiePie will have the most subscribed channel on YouTube. But how did PewDiePie, the Baron of Brofist, skyrocket to the top of the YouTube charts so quickly. And what does Pewdie's record-setting rise mean for gamers on YouTube in general?

Never heard of him lol

Crazy!! He was virtually a nobody last year.

He is Swedish. No one can resist Swedish people.

god tht dude that is talking in that vid is so annoying. I don't know if I can hold on for 12min

By appealing to as large of an audience as possible:
- Using the broadest possible references
- Catering for short attention spans
- Production value
- Building his brand very deliberately and carefully to be seen as "one of us" even whilst getting a million views per video, and yet unique/talented/attractive enough to get a personality following

I would think that everyone subscribed to him thinks there's someone else on Youtube they value more... but exactly who varies by person, and PewDiePie is a common denominator of agreed minimal value.

Is that a Swede I'm hearing?

I'm Russian, and we are historically intolerant of Swedes Evidenced by the fact I can't take more than 30 sec of his high-pitched whine, rape jokes, and bad acting. Most of his "audience" are annoying schoolkids.

Ehm because he uploaded video featuring him playing horror games that scare the sh*t out of him I think. Everyone loves horror games.

Who?

Just looked him up lol his lets play of The Last Of Us has more views than the then the game has sold. xD
