Forums - Microsoft - Ryse Has Worst Gameplay of Any Next Gen Game?

So when I first saw the gameplay of Ryse I thought it looked pretty good, the graphics were amazing, I liked the atmosphere...then they got to the combat and wow was it bad.  Honestly it looked like he was doing the exact same thing over and over again followed by a quick time event.  This game had more quick time events in that 7 minute demo than some games have in their entire campaign.  I really hope they scrap that gameplay and start over on that, because I like everything else about the game, its just the gameplay is god awful.  Even if they have to delay the game I think its worth it to fix that broken gameplay because as of now it looks like a game that plays itself and requires no skill.  What do you guys think, do you actually like the gameplay or should they fix it?

Most of the time you don't need to play a game to know if its gonna be good or bad.

The has been explained about a dozen times. Those are not quick time event, what they showed at MS E3 wasn't a true presentation of how the game actually plays. Every button prompt is optional, and if you decide to do them they give you bonuses. We will see the combat and multiplayer explained much more at Gamescom.

Even though the QTE's are optional, the combat is still pretty bad. It could've been when you damage an enemy enough, you can hold one trigger of both, and push a face button to execute a finishing move which would give you 8 total finishing moves. Or, when they are damaged enough, you can press B to grab them and push a face button to execute a finishing move. That's how I would of preferred it.

They are talking out of their ass and trying to damage control.  Just watch this.

I think it's brilliant. Microsoft realizes that not every gamer wants TVTVTV, so they decided to make a game that is just like watching TV in order to bridge the gap.

XD

It looked like a terrible, quicktimey mess during the conference, but some of the showfloor gameplay gave a different impression. You should check that out.
