The graphics were good, the story was good (though having nearly the same ending as RDR was a bit wierd), the actors were all well cast, the facial motion capture technique they used really brought the actor's performances to life, the gameplay was good. The only issue I found with the game is that the open world felt a bit empty considering it's large size (8 square miles), there wasn't much side content, just a few patrol missions and some collectibles, that was it. Fortunately the main storyline had enough content to make up for the lack of side content. |
I couldn't care much for the graphics, the actors and the facial motion capture technique, as that doesn't make me enjoy a game more or less. The story is a very subjective element, so I'll leave it count for you since you enjoyed it, but what was "good" gameplay?
Chase sequences that would resolve by themselves if you take too long grabbing the fleeing suspect?
The auto-aimed, subpar gunplay? (ALTHOUGH I don't know if the auto-aim could be removed, so if it could, then I don't have a problem with this)
The braindead puzzles?
The always reminding you PRESS A to examine items screen?
The fact that failing the conversations isn't trascendental because you will beat the case anyway? There's like only two cases that you can fail; everything else only affects your "endchapter ranking" but not the case itself. That's just bollocks, seriously. There's no punishing the player, there's no pressure, no nothing.
The secondary missions that were just an excuse to allow you to shoot/chase something?
There's this great case about finding the serial killer, that got spoiled because:
· You had to solve the puzzles by going to the specific landmarks. This would have been cool if landmarks weren't hidden for achievement purposes, so your only chance to find them is by exploring the damn empty city, which is too damn huge for its own good.
· If you take too long (or you're looking for the damn landmarks like I was) the game thinks you're retard and Cole goes like "WE SHOULD GO TO THE CHAPEL" thus making everything efortless.
Seriously, is like the game was afraid of being too clever, or something, when it turned out to be quite the opposite. That being said, this was my personal experience with the game, but really...ugh. What a shame.
