Few independent studios sport the multiplayer pedigree of Turtle Rock Studios. After years of working on Valve's Counter-Strike series, the California-based developer created Left 4 Dead, a post-apocalyptic shooter that redefined cooperative gaming and landed the number-one spot on Game Informer's Top 30 Co-op Games of All Time list. Now the studio is combining its competitive and cooperative design expertise for a new, next-gen only IP: Evolve. Backed by publisher 2K Games, which paid a whopping $10.8 million for the IP in last year's THQ auction, Turtle Rock is taking full advantage of gamers' powerful new systems.
The sci-fi multiplayer-focused shooter pits a four-player crew of alien hunters against a separate player-controlled monster that grows larger and more powerful over the course of matches. Each hunter features its own unique items and abilities, and while the monster may be outnumbered, its size and an assortment of devastating attacks make it a more than formidable foe. Like Turtle Rock's previous titles, Evolve is being built with variety and replayabilty in mind; the result is a novel mix of cooperative and competitive multiplayer elements that's unlike anything we've played before. Our exclusive hands-on time with the game's four-versus-one hunt mode left us with plenty to be excited about, and you can get all the details in this month's issue.
Our 12-page look at Evolve reveals the first hunters, monster, and unique equipment players will get their hands on when the game releases on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 this fall. We also have a wealth of exclusive screens and hands-on impressions you won't want to miss. Check out the cover image below for your first hint at what's to come.
In addition to our first look at Evolve, the February issue features Game Informer's annual Top 50 Games of the Year awards. To top it all off, we have hands-on impressions of Sega and Creative Assembly's Alien: Isolation. Find out how we fared against the series' infamous xenomorph in this promising new survival horror title that may finally deliver the tense cat-and-mouse experience Alien fans have been waiting for.

Evolve actually sounds really great. Sounds similar to Left 4 Dead (of course made by the same people) except with Aliens xD Which is a big plus for me haha Aliens > Zombies
Ryuu96 said: Sounds great but the guy over hyped it a little Lol, Make gamers flip out over it =/ I had a big feeling it wouldn't already be a big game reveal like a game thats already huge e.g. Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls Etc.
THQ Games still living on <3 Now hurry up and make Darksiders III ¬.¬ |
Got to get those clicks you know lol
But yeah it does sounds good. Though it would have needed to be a pretty big game to make me flip out lol

I didnt realize that until you said something lol It showed up for this weeks news for me when i was searching for Sunset Overdrive information. |
:)
I really enjoyed Nexus. It's short, but it's everything that A Crack in Time was - great gameplay; interesting story; beautiful graphics. There's just not as much of it.
The good thing for me about it was that it showed Insomniac have still "got" it. And it was made by their North Carolina Studio, which is their secondary team, which bodes well for Sunset Overdrive as that's by the main team in Burbank. The bad news is that Burbank's last game is Fuse which wasn't received so well (but I hear the gameplay is alright, it was just the generic design which dragged it down).
Anyway, I'll leave you guys to your thread now. If you get any more Sunset Overdrive news drop it in the title and I'll visit again :P
Very good article Ryuu! And Yes Shikamaru, but that is what happens when a game is exclusive. It happens on all fronts in gaming, whether it be sony, Nintendo, or MSFT. Fans will either praise it for no reason or criticize it for no reason. Unfortunately for MSFT fans their games seems to be criticized on the net more than the others.
PS4 Sells 4.2m Consoles as of Dember 28th. Just wanted to go ahead and say Congratz to Sony on this achievement
It's a very impressive feat, lets hope Xb1 doesn't fall rapidly behind and all will be fine.
Not sure MS will like being second AGAIN, but they asked for it this time :P
I wonder what XB1 could have done if it launched with more stock in more countries and the same price?

As for your scenario, I think the Xbox One would have taken the lead, US, UK, Australia and a few other key markets would have propelled the Xbox One, while Sony's late launch in Japan would have held them back. Things would have been fairly even after Sony's Japan release with the PS4 possibly taking the lead after awhile, unless Microsoft finally cracked the Japanese code. |
I think PS3 managed a comeback because it's competitive in every market, Xbox simply isn't (anymore) it won't come close to PS4 in Europe and Japan. 1st is long, long gone. But you're right, second place is a sure win.
Don't be surprised to see 25m gaps between each console!!
