It's just a rough guess. I don't think I saw anybody say that their store had less than 20 Xbox One's in stock for Black Friday weekend, and I saw some people saying their store had 40 or more in stock. Most people seemed to be saying that the stores they went to sold out of Xbox One's. Obviously some of the retailers that aren't quite as popular for video game purchases like Kmart and Kohl's probably didn't have 20 in stock, or if they did they probably didn't sell out, but as Murph pointed out I may have undertracked the number of Walmart's and Gamestop's in the US, which are surely the 2 most popular retailers for video game purchases. 

I just find it hard to believe that Xbox One sold less than 500k Black Friday week in the US. We have lots of reports of pretty decent sized stockpiles and sellouts on Black Friday weekend, we have Xbox One at #1-#2 on Amazon for the weekend, and in the top 10 earlier in the week, we had a good deal at Toys R Us on the Monday before Black Friday that probably sold well ($350 AC bundle with a $50 gift card). I feel like sales outside of the US had to be at least 250k considering the kind of fantastic Xbox One deals UK retailers had.

Don't get me wrong, ioi's preliminary 1.1m estimate sounds too high to me, but that doesn't mean that Xbox One sold bad imo, 1.1m would have been exceptionally good, 360 only sold over 1m 2 out of 8 Black Friday's in it's lifetime if I remember correctly, and those were later in it's life when the price for Black Friday was $250 or less with games bundled. I think Xbox One could be in the 750-900k range. Maybe I'm just overly hopeful though.  

My guess is about $30  or less.  Hardware gets cheaper each year so the price to manufacture should have went down a bit.  But that is jist me guessing so yeah lol

Big losses? No I don't think so.

Any loss being made right now can be made back simply by that person owning the console. I've never heard of someone getting a console in its 1st year and not buying anything else for that console the rest of the generation. Especially with Xbox's track record with game sales.

That's true, but  was talking about now. Of course in the long run they can recoup those losses but right now they are making a loss per console. So the division will probably announce losses this quarter. 

Nah I don't think so. Xbox doesn't have a division. Its grouped with other devices so I don't expect any losses announced for the holidays. Sales would have to be horrible all around for that to happen.

But if they are making a loss per console, the more they sell, don't the losses get bigger? So if they sell 2m consoles and are making a $50 loss per console, then that's a  $100m loss.
