See guys, if MS would show something new in the next months, Gamechaser would complain that E3 2015 would have less new stuff as it will have when they don't announce something new in the next weeks or months

Very true. Though Ori got a fair amount of buzz among core gamers I don't think most casual gamers have a clue what it is. And that's sad because Ori could be one of those indies that sells 1m or more copies if it hadn't got swept under the rug due to all of the big AAA annnouncements at E3. Phantom Dust as well, MS needs to get alot of the casuals who play card games like Hearthstone and Magic: The Gathering to play it. Announcing it at E3 just got it swept under the rug, people only cared about the big AAA games. |
Nice thinking, considering how magic video game is even exclusive to Xbox platforms.

And maybe they will. Just because MS doesn't announce something on the same day as Sony doesn't mean that they don't annnounce something before E3.
What I don't get is this "MS has x studios working on games they should show some of them" attitude when it's pretty obvious that the release date of these games won't change with an earlier announcement. All you would hear then is "MS announces games way too early"
MS can also not simply throw money on every freaking developer also in Japan to get Japanese games. These developers would exploit that very fast and would be like "MS throw always money on us or we won't make any games for you in the future". That's not something which will make MS money in the long run.
I would be also happy to see some new stuff and I find it bad that Phil is not even there even if some Xbox games are nominated but whatever they would show, it would only mean that I will see something I would otherwise also see but just later.
But what I always see is something like this:
"MS announced Forza Horizon 2 way too late"
"MS announced Crackdown much too early"
So, whatever they do it's wrong.
Maybe they should really just buy Capcom lol.

the way it is we don't get the games at all, so yeah..

Personally I've never been on of those guys who complains about knowing about a game too early, I'd rather know about a game a year in advance than have game release the day after it's announced (the DR3 standalone DLC at E3 last year). Let's face it, that DR3 expansion got swept over because they announced it like that, there was literally no time for hype to build, all the hype went to the AAA games announced at E3. I'm not saying that MS should just throw money at Japanese studios, but they shouldn't continue doing absolutely nothing there. At least start a 1st party studio there, you can't rely on schmups and visual novels to sell your console. MS could build a permanent fanbase in Japan that would last throughout multiple future console generations, but they've got to do some actual work to achieve that goal and right now it just doesn't seem like they care. My main point is, MS is in a lose-lose situation right now, PS4 has more games because it sold better and it's selling better because it has more games (at least that's one of the reasons). And there's really only one way out of that lose-lose situation for MS, opening more 1st party studios (especially AAA), making more 2nd party partnerships, and buying more 3rd party exclusives. Going into a quarter with no AAA exclusives while your competition has 2, with no new announcements while your competition has 4, is not going to make a good start to your sales year, especially if MS goes through with their plan to go back up to $400 in the US. |
I don't really see that Sony has so many more games, they get more indie games but that's because of some other reasons^^ and obviously more Japanese games but MS can't really change that Sony will get more of them.
Sure, Sony has The Order and Bloodborne earlier next year but only because one of them got pushed back to 2015. the Order was supposed to release this year which is bad and not good news just to say " we have a game in early 2015" now. This also means "we had a game less as planned for holidays 2014" This winter they had only Driveclub which should have released already at launch which is also nothing to brag about and LBP 3.
I really doubt that PS4 is selling also better because it has more games people care about except maybe in Japan. Titanfall, The MCC, SO, two Forza games, DR3, Fantasia and whatever else can easily compete with what PS4 has but not XBO. I doubt that games like Towerfall are the reason why people chose a PS4 instead of an XBO.
Can't wait for the Sunset DLC!!!!!!!!!!

I know that Phil knows that Xbox needs some Japanese games. I'm pretty sure they're open to have them (Scalebound, D4), but why aren't they getting those games?
-Are devs and publishers only publishing on popular home (Japan) consoles?
-They don't want to expand West?
London is actually cool, after Japan would be my choice. I might try AC for once.
