Didn't watch the video but Flashback was one of my favorite SNES games. The story was great and the cutscenes were mindblowing at the time. The animation was out of this world, too. It's one of those games that was awesome because of its innovation and not its gameplay. I don't know how well the remake will do without that "wow" factor. It was more frustrating than fun, to be honest.

Honestly, I had no problem with the gameplay then, nor last time I've played it, which was couple of years ago. I'm guessing at the time I was already well familiar with that approach to platforming (Prince of Persia, Another World), so Flashback didn't seem really strange either.
When I look at it from this perspective, it was one of those great games that were important precursors to 3D action-adventure games that came after them. They are saying it won't be just classic HD upscale remake, but lot of gameplay will be changed too - hope they make it as good as original was back in the day.
Yuk.. couldn't they at least rotoscope everything again? thats was the heart and soul of the game and made the game feel special.. now it looks like a fan made game..

@HoloDust, I finally watched the video and I see where they said they'd make the improvements. I have high hopes for it. For me, though, the big draw of the game back when I played it on the SNES (Heard the Genesis version was better) was seeing the full motion video and seeing the story unfold. I remember so many frustrating deaths from not jumping when I wanted to or falling a few feet too far. Either way, I'll likely be buying this game for nostalgia's sake.
On another note, there were a ton of games at the time that wowed me on a technical level more than anything. I hate to say it because these games were such pioneers but classic games like Star Fox and Pilot Wings have aged pretty poorly, too. They aren't unplayable by any means. It's just that their selling point was that the devs made a capable game around this totally amazing new tech. Now, that new tech isn't so new anymore so the experience is pretty bare bones.
I played the original on the Mega Drive and I loved it.
The footage shown is promising (at least it is still 2D) so I'm cautiously optimistic. I hope they don't put too much combat.
Please excuse my bad English.
