I highly doubt that, Tales of Xillia 2 just released on PS3, and won't release outside of Japan until 2014 as it is. Plus PS3 owners already have the Symphonia HD remakes to look forward to.

I think, if this isn't a Wii U game (since they say they have no plans for a next get Tales), it's likely a 3DS game. Tales of the Abyss, a remake, sold 65% as well as the best console Tales this gen, and it sold 90% as well as the original game, despite releasing early in 3DS's life.

Plus releasing the game for 3DS means that people outside of Japan will likely get the game too, since 3DS will be selling well in 2014/2015, thus boosting sales.

Xillia 2 came out in Japan like 9 months ago. I don't really see them doing much with 3DS.

Yea, and how many Tales of games did the PS3 get in its 7 years lifetime? 4 in Japan, with 1 more already releasing. I don't think Namco could develop another PS3 Tales of game and release it within 12 months. (I don't think they will release the game after the first half of 2014 in Japan. Plus Xillia 2 hasn't even released outside of Japan, this would be oversaturation of the brand outside of Japan. If it's a PS3 game, I wouldn't expect it to release outside of Japan.

A Tales of game for 3DS wouldn't be as epic as a PS3 game, but it's much cheaper and quicker to produce, and will sell 60-70% as well minimum. Namco has never really made a full out haldheld Tales of Game, I think with the popularity of handheld games in Japan, it's a very real possibility.

But I can be wrong, and if it's not WiiU or 3DS, PS3 is the next most likely console. However if they make it for PS3, we might not see it localize.

Tales of Castration?

You spoiled the surprise Badgenome. Well since he's revealed the title. I guess I'll reveal the lead characters name. Eunich.

Creales please, the other ones sound weird.

Tales of Zestoria would be especially bad. Sounds like Tales of the story. Redundant.
Catastora sounds like something catastrophic.

As per usual Namco trademarks three names for a new Tales game but picks one to be the final name.

Based on what Tales producer Hideo Baba has said, they have no plans for a next-gen Tales game and are focusing on PS3 so this should be a new PS3 Tales game.

I highly doubt that, Tales of Xillia 2 just released on PS3, and won't release outside of Japan until 2014 as it is. Plus PS3 owners already have the Symphonia HD remakes to look forward to.

Oh... doubt all you want. I'm 100% sure this game will be for the PS3. Hideo Baba was quite clear about it as were the japanese with the Xillia launch. He was adamant that the japanese were clear that they want tales on Playstation platforms and that they have no plans to develop for next gen at the moment.

They could port some old tales to the 3DS though. But i think even the Vita has a better chance than the 3DS.

Did they say they want ALL future Tales on Playstation platforms? Namco Bandai has been very jumpy with their Tales of Releases. While they do clearly prefer Sony, they do support Nintendo.

Why exactly couldn't Namco get a new PS3 Tales out in the next 12 months? What would bar them? "Saturation" isn't a good argument either. For Xillia 2 we're looking at a Fall 2014, maybe Summer 2014 release if we're lucky. Assuming this new Tales comes out Fall 2014 in Japan, we'd probably get it Spring 2015 or something. That's a several month gap. They're trying to close the huge gap between the JP and Western release they've caused. And yeah it's late but Namco is getting the ToS HD collection out quick, and they announced Xillia 2's localization before Xillia even released here. I don't think we should worry about a localization.

Platform and sales wise, the only thing they think about is where their fanbase is and the producer said they're focusing on the PS3 because of that. 3DS might be cheaper to develop for but I doubt that really matters to them, and a PS3 game would still sell better.

Well, except for Tales of Xillia 1 and 2, most Tales games have taken 2-3 years between them to make. Plus isn't part of the Tales of team working on Smash Bros?

Also, if another Tales of game released in Summer 2015 on PS3, how well do you expect it to sell outside on Japan? A game every year is over-saturation a bit, and the PS4 will have been out for about 2 years at that point.

Also isn't part of their fanbase on the 3DS? Abyss sold well on 3DS and that was a port. A new Tales of game for 3DS could very well match sales figures on PS3. Most Japanese gamers play on handhelds, I'm only saying it's a logical possibility that this next game is a 3DS game. It makes more sense to release a game on the 3DS while software and hardware sales are peaking, then release it on nearly decade old console, which has been replaced.

For the near future that is exactly the case.

I guess you havent been keeping up with the last years of the tales studio's situation. The studio was in dire financial trouble after Vesperia failed to perform on the 360 and Graces failed to perform on the Wii as they antecipated besides a plethora of bug issues. Before that the DS tales all failed aswell. The studio was about to bankrupt and was absorbed back into namco, but not without first revealing their last title of sorts. That title was Xillia and was released for the PS3, it was the studio's final hurrah to keep the tales series relevant (it had been in decline). also the vesperia and Graces PS3 ports sent a clear message aswell, selling more than the original versions.

Xillia was a sucess and revived the series from the problem it was in. The tales studio realised that their fan base is on the playstation 3 and sent them a clear message.

Now add those events to the clear statements that Hideo Baba has given us, and its easy to understand that they team will not take the risks that almost sent them packing at the beggining of this gen. They will stick to the PS3 for now and make as much money as possible. They wont move to the PS4 until the console has seen significant sales.

Some Tales members on working on Smash Bros, doesn't mean they're neglecting Tales though. Xillia in 2011 was the last time they made an "original" Tales game for consoles. Xillia 2 rehashed areas and such from Xillia 1. They should have plenty of time to get a brand new one next year.

A Tales game a year isn't anything special...we have CoD or AC releasing every year, it's not really a big deal. Games like Persona 4 sold well late on the PS2 and RPGs have more dedicated fanbases so it should be OK.

I'm sure they think part of their fanbase is on the 3DS but Baba has said multiple times now (and recently) that they're main focus is on the PS3.

That is true, Persona 4 released about 2 years after PS2 was replaced in Japan. Tales of Zesty Cheese would release in Japan only a year after PS3 was replaced.

I dunno, I just find it shocking that there would be 5 Tales of Games in 4 years (f, Xillia 1 & 2, Symphonia remakes, and this). I think for the American gamer this might be a bit saturated. I mean, I consider myself a JRPG fan, but I still haven't beaten Vesperia (plan to beat it real soon). By the time I buy and beat Graces f and Xillia, Symphonia remake and Xillia 2 will release. I don't want to be only playing Tales of games, I like a break now and then.

Regardless...PS3 or 3DS, I'm still happy. I hope it's 3DS though, I seem to beat more JRPG's on handhelds since my job invoves me sitting around a lot.

Maybe, but Abyss for 3DS was also not a failure...yea, you might be right though, Tales of Hearts and Innocence sold poorly. To be fair Tempest is the worst rated Tales of game though.

However aren't Tales of Hearts and Innocence 2D Tales games? The 3D ones sell better, and Abyss remake did do well.

You might be right though, but wow. in 2009 the only Tales games were Wii and 360, and now PS3 might have 5...

and abyss sold horribly in japan, which is tales biggest fanbase

First thing that came into my mind!

Great men think alike.

So do weirdos it seems...

Epically idiotic names, all of them. Zestoria sounds like a toilet. Catastora is even worse
But make 'em good games, and I'll buy them anyway.
