Well, except Sony ;o

Yeah. I'm sure they hope you think that.

To deny that Sony doesn't mostly listen to their fans at this point is completely ludicrous

The theme at the time amoungst gamers was basically, "the N64 version was better".

Probably the last version they played.

Also, how the fuck do you imite "yourself"? Don't you mean "parody"? Regardless, it's fascinating to  see the depths people will plumb to find new perjoratives for the process of maintaining successful franchises. It's almost a parody of what they themselves accuse Nintendo of doing.

What I meant was that they were no longer attempting to revolutionize their franchises and core games in general. Take the Zelda franchise for instance. Compare the leaps in gameplay and ideas between Zelda 1 and OOT. Every title was so ridiuclously redefined and reimagined, that they could have been different games. Then we get WW and it's....boats and cell shading? It didn't add ANYTHING meaninful to Zelda nor improve upon gameplay in a positive way. It looked different, and you could sail, but sailing was monotonus and thus, shelved from all future Zelda titles lol.

The same could be said for just about all Gamecube titles. Compare the innovation from the NES-N64 and then the N64 to Gamecube, and it's quite clear what happened.

LTTP to OoT pretty much used the same structure, which was resumed after poor reception to Majora's Mask.

Phantom Hourglass used sailing, and that was released after Wind Waker. Wind Waker HD will also feature sailing, being as it is a huge element of the game.

I won't address your other concerns about gameplay, because they are dildos.

You do use the word "innovation" a lot. That should alert everyone else to what you are doing here.

To think that a multi-billion dollar corporation actually takes into consideration fan's opinions on how things should work is ludicrous. They most likely listen to board members, or do what they want. They say they listen to fans and what they want, but if they did, they would be worse off than they are now. Because fan's opinions differ so much that nothing would get done correctly.

"The person writing this really doesn't know how the videogames industry works, and why third parties don't want their games on Nintendo consoles."

I think it is you and other very naïve Nintendo fans like you that do not understand how business works (video game business or otherwise)

Why is it that 3rd parties support Sony and MSFT but not Nintendo? Sony and MSFT do what it takes to get 3rd party support- Nintendo has not-

Well so far, that advice been workng for Sony so far. Making the PS4 the hottest console this holiday season, by listening to their fans.

He kind of sounds like a Sony fan now that you mention it.

Even if the Wii U is a colossal failure when it's all said and done, Nintendo is still king of handhelds, so they're not doomed. Hell, I think that in an alternate dimension where the Gameboy never existed, they would have already quit the console market.

But I don't think the Wii U will be a complete failure. It's probably gonna outsell the N64. Yes, third-party support is pathetic, and it's probably gonna be like that for the rest of the gen, mostly thanks to a much weaker hardware compared to the competition. But everybody wants to play Nintendo games. I'm gonna buy a Wii U in a few years myself. It's gonna be A LOT of people's "secondary" console.

Of course Nintendo could do what someone already suggested here - make great use of the Gamepad, show people gaming experiences (including third-party) that are not possible at all on PS4/One.

That's what I think honestly.

They do/did listen, but only because they thought it was the best business decision.

My favourite Metroid!

Wut?  I hope your not serious?

Why would you hope that?

Metroid: Other M doesn't hold a candle to Super Metroid or Metroid Prime.

What annoys me about Nintendo this gen is the fact that the Wii made them billions and at the end of the gen it didn't get that many releases, despite that the Wii U is suffering from lack of software. What were they doing?

Sod your candles. My opinion is a volcano by comparison.
