Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why are VC games so damn expensive?

@Dodece:

Well, you can do one of two things. You can set your 360 to display in 480p mode, which will cause the image to fill the screen. Or, if your TV supports it, you can enable a "stretch" or "justify" mode to cause the image to fill the screen.

@GooseGaws

Thanks for the advice. I hadn't even considered going to the cable. I hadn't considered tinkering with my television setting either it usually auto adjust properly. Hadn't even occurred to me to manually stretch the image. I will keep that in mind next time I play the game.

@Dodece:

No problem, glad to help. Fable doesn't really look that bad stretched; I've played it that way (though my TV does have a "justify" mode, which helps somewhat). It is unfortunate when the BC games don't have widescreen modes, but it's usually bearable.

Every day crappy new games are released for $50, $60 or $70 (and people still buy them), and you're complaining if Nintendo sell some absolute classics for $10 or $15. This really doesn't make sense. I have skipped on Super Paper Mario and bought Paper Mario 64 instead. To me that's €40 less for the same amount of gaming fun.

If you think it's a good game you should jump at the opportunity. If you think it's a crap game you should buy it under no circumstances. You shouldn't even touch it if you got it for free.

Hardcore gaming is a bubble economy blown up by Microsoft's $7 $6 billion losses.

Buying VC will likely be cheaper than buying up the same actual games. Of course, you don't have the physical copy...but you did purchase the rights to play the game legally.

1) And think of it as paying to enjoy some nostalgic games...are your favorite games in the world only worth 2 bucks or so to you? I gladly pay the price of a movie ticket for games like Sonic, Mario, and Zelda on Genesis, NES, etc, which gave me great joy when I was younger.

2) If $5 is too much for a game, then as Perrin rudely stated, you might want to get a better-paying job.

1) Well N64 games are almost double the price of a cinema ticket here in the UK. They are not worth 15 bucks to me. I have not played them before so I don't know whether I will like them.

2) Like I stated before, they are $15 not $5. I am 17 years old so I cannot get a better job.

Also your last sentence sounds like Sony PR.

 Yeah my last sentence is pretty much a quote from Perrin Kaplan, and she was pretty bad at PR for Nintendo sometimes.

But I do agree, even if it's not the right way to say it.  $10 as the highest price for a VC game, an N64 game (of which there's less than 10 I think), the rest 5-8 dollars...I don't see how that's expensive...even kids in lower income families can scrap a 5-er now and then.

You're not meant to own every single game in the VC library...I don't see the huge deal.  $15 is a little bit too much, but hey, you guys get Star Points in the UK, so you can suck it.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Here is the report I was referring to.
Seeing as to how *every* time I've wanted a game that's on VC I've been able to find it cheaper, I seriously question the methodology of this report.

I dont know about yall but I am 100% satisfied with VC and the price of games.

I just wish there are more games.

I am WEEzY. You can suck my Nintendo loving BALLS!

Nevermind. I was quite wrong.

OP: It's not as bad in North America. It sounds like Europeans are getting screwed on the price, yet again.

 In NA, it's been proven that one saves money buying them on the VC. For every system except NES, at least. But for NES games, it's only a fraction of a difference.

Not to mention you're paying for the luxury of storing all said games into one compact system...very nice if you want to play MK64, SFII, and Brawl all in one sitting.
