Epic Shoots Down GamePro's Gears 2 Exclusive

The upcoming GamePro issue hitting newsstands February 12th entices gamers with a "special report" on Epic's Gears of War 2—the game we all know is coming but has yet to be announced to the world. So did GamePro score the scoop? According to Epic's Mark Rein, they did not.

It is complete nonsense. We have not announced a sequel to Gears of War to Gamepro or anyone else for that matter.
This response, of course, does not write off the possibility of hot gossip or legitimate leaks. But don't expect six pages of centerfold-quality Gears 2 porn or any official confirmation.

For the time being. They wouldn't want someone else to ruin their announcement during gdc. WHy do you think they along with MS have so much freaking space. Is going to be BIG!

DO we know it's coming? I never really heard anything convincing...other than the fact that Epic would be stupid not to make a rehashed sequel.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

What the baby said ...

I can't wait to see the Gears images directly from Epic - I've got my popcorn, pixie sticks and Kool-Aid ready for this.

nice title.... anyway it is only about what told epic too who

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Ha! One wonders where Gamepro got its info, then.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

This game is coming, it's just a matter of time

God, I hope they just let this franchise die a good death. I love Gears, but I feel like they're going to pimp it out like Halo 3. Midnight launches, Mountain dew, etc. And that's all any media outlet is going to be reporting. After this one is the same as the last, I hope that they end the franchise, and move on to another genre to exploit.

We *assume* it is coming because you never see an IP come out that successful and profitable without a sequel getting planned and developed.  Sure, terrible stuff could happen (a la duke nukem), but chances are they are developing it or planning on developing it at some point.

We don't know they're working on it yet, or if they're planning on working on another project and revisiting Gears at a later date, however.  If they're being this mum about it now, chances are it's not gonna be out within the next 18 months, though.

Wait, so you want Epic to end an excellent franchise because its gonna be so pimped out? That's rather ironic from your side because you're not only using an avatar and sig from a franchise that has been "pimped out" since 7 but on top of that the images are from the version that has been milked out the most by Squaresoft. Is this hypocrism at its best?
