Forums - Nintendo - Does The Legend of Zelda need a shake-up? Eiji Aonuma thinks so

I'm hoping Aonuma doesn't change it too much. I don't get what's with some Nintendo developers that all of the sudden get the great idea to completely change their series. Sometimes it works, a lot of the times it doesn't.

All he needs to do is make small advancements. He doesn't need to give the series an overhaul.

Shake-up in staff?

I definitely think Aonuma just meant the actual series. If that's what you are wondering.

Sarcasm.

I don't want him to make stupid changes like he did in Skyward Sword.

Shaken, not stirred. Sounds about right.

I seem to be the only person who enjoyed that game... -.-

Still, I agree overall. He better not muck up the series by trying to "change it."

I know nobody else wants this...
But I would love to see a Link incarnation that is mature...
And by mature I mean not a kid or young man...
I'm not saying Link should be a Gears of War grunt or an old man...
I'm just saying we've seen Link cel shaded, we've seen Link from a side scrolling perspective, and we've seen Link with Pink hair...
Why not see him after he's reached maturity???

Have a nice day...

"Production for the Wii U “Zelda” is still in its experimental phase. Yet everything, including game mechanics and how players relate to Link, is up for reconsideration."

Late 2015 release date almost confirmed...

A lot of Nintendo's franchises need a few changes, but Zelda is the one with the most growing pains because of it's competition. Action-adventure RPG? You've basically got Skyward Sword going up against titles like Witcher.

I have yet to play a Zelda game I didn't like, though. I really want to see the basic plot and cardboard characters go, and I increasingly think that the player should never be conscious of entering or exiting a dungeon--seriously, who makes these buildings as difficult to navigate as possible?--but a location you have to visit for the plot. A few of the holdovers need touching up at least.

Yeah Skyward Sword was very weak. Especially compared to other modern day games. They need a bigger change. A change in structure, scope, interaction, scale, story. They need to do this while keeping it "Zelda". Yeah the task ahead is gargantuan.
