Forums - Nintendo - Wii U's main graphical disadvantage is the lack of a studio like Naughty Dog or Santa Monica

It's okay, bananaKing21, it's okay.

Maybe someday you'll understand.

how about you exaplin, since you been saying the same thing without even backing it up

This isn't something that can be explained.

It is something that is simply felt, experienced. You have to let go of everything and leave yourself to be molded by its' glorious beauty.

Look into your heart. You'll know and see the truth.

But seriously though. You see things your way and I see them my way. That's just how it is. I'm not going to waste time trying to explain anything or convince you of anything.

I have honestly have no clue what you're talking about. Is this just some joke? The smg are great looking artistically, but they are completely inferior to most 7th gen graphics from ps3/xbox 360. You don't even have to be a graphics whore to see it. Games like halo 4, uncharted, bf3, bioshock infinite, etc looks alot better.

It is such a wonderful piece of software :D

You are right, SMG looks even better @1080p, but (imo) the game shines even at 480p and is right up there with Banjo Kazooie:N&B (visually)

No. The main problem is lack of power compared to next-gen consoles. If you think PS3/360 can produce beautiful visuals just think about how good games will look once devs start optimizing their games and maxing out these console to squeeze every drop.

Lack of a Naughty Dog-like studio is a problem but those type of games don't sell on Nintendo consoles. Nintendo doesn't seem interested in trying to move in on that market anyway so is it really considered a problem? This seems to be intentional. Nintendo doesn't focus on graphics or realistic games. They focus on quirky, family friendly games that anyone can enjoy. Nintendo values art style over realism. I don't see why they can't have both.

I think you got that backwards non technically minded people see graphics in a much shallower way, they only apreciate graphics on a surface level without apreciating the details of how it looks the way it does and why. A technically minded person apreciates a pretty image the same as anyone (aesthetic differences aside), but they also understand the work that goes into creating the image which adds a whole new depth to their appreciation.

I don't know why I read these threads anymore

No. non-technically minded people just see the whole picture and appreciate graphics as they are.

Technical whores look for flaws to bitch about.

That would be like someone with no knowledge of art or painting saying they prefer painting A to painting B when they have no knowledge of why either paining look good or the work that's gone into either whilst ignoring the views of expert artists.

Whilst it may look like technical minded people look for flaws it's the exact opposite. Technical minds know the limitations that hardware presents so when a developer manages to overcome major technical and graphical barriers on limited hardware the appreciation is all the greater. It's why technically minded people will appreciate Super Mario Galaxy, Shadow of the Colossus or The Last of Us for what each game achieves both artistically and technically on their respective platform. It's also why they accept that more powerful, feature-rich hardware will give the tools that developers need to show off their artistic mindsand truly express themselves.

Their appreciation is much deeper than those who just look at the simplest of levels.

It's not even like that in Wii and no... SMB is not one of the best looking games of the generations... it is not even close to that.

You can like the artstyle... it is personal but the game is "ugly" in terms of graphics for the 7th generation.

The game is really fun and great... I prefer it over the 2D Mario on Wii

X looks better than The Last of Us.

It looks better running on 2012 hardware compared to Last of Us running on 2006 hardware? wow...shocker!

^ Yep and it works pretty much perfectly with most Wii software. But.. that's really not a fair comparison (since its really running on PC) :P

The console hasn't been out a single year so give it more time. Monolith should be able to do some impressive things with WiiU.

Remember, Uncharted 2 didn't come out until a few years into the life cycle, neither did Super Mario Galaxy or Alan Wake. The other side is that the hardware isn't that big a jump from the current HD twins so it'll be harder to make titles that stand out.

And X didn't look better than TLOU... it have really good graphics but the graphcis are below what TLOU shows (looking the gameplay trailers of course... can be different for the final game).
