- A: (smiles) It's safe.

Snowden: Please do not take photos, the less photos you make -- the safer it's for me.

Seems like this guy didn't think far ahead. He does a righteous act, but in doing so ruins his life and is now a nomad looking for a country that will take him in. What about his income, family, and friends? He really messed his life up.

And do you think homegrown terrorists in the United States are going to talk important things by the phone/internet anymore? Offcourse not, they will do it all in person from now on. The NSA's job of finding evidence on terrorist suspects just got THAT much harder.

That's why I have no qualms saying this guy deserves what he gets. He did more bad then good, essentially telling terrorists to not talk electronically anymore.

You physically can't do everything in person. You have to at least do calls/e-mail to coordinate where to meet up.

I would then guess it would apply to ones that live in a somewhat close proximity.

But going by your claim that it is inevitable, they will counter with using heavily coded (code words) during communication, if they weren't doing so before.

I'm surprised Ilya Kovalchuk wasn't on his list of invited people...it would explain a lot.

Yeah, almost just as stupid as Jesus. He did righteous acts, but in doing so he ruined his life and ended up dead on a cross. What about his income, family and friends? He really messed his life up!

I think that's a flawed argument. That electronic communication can and is being surveilled has been known for a long time. Those who are actually planning serious crimes have always been aware of this and have taken counter measures. They're either using strong encryption, codewords/secret languages etc. Or they are simply avoiding these kinds of technologies altogether - like the KGB, who is said to be writing top secret reports on mechanical typewriters and paper again.

Those who have been aware that they indeed have "something to hide" have always considered this and acted accordingly - and the more dangerous it would be if the information got into the wrongs hands, the more effort they put into preventing this.

It's the ordinary citizen who naively thought that all this "big brother" talk is just conspiracy theories (or at least  couldn't possibly affect themselves) who may actually change his behaviour now.

Given the position his father holds, I'm pretty sure his smegging family was ok ;) You're flattering Snowden too much.
