Forums - Microsoft - One Microsoft: Company realigns to enable innovation at greater speed, efficiency

Is Balmer still going to be staying on? And boy is MS huge. Good thing they're reorganizing, they weren't the most well run company to say the least.

well she has a way higher up role than Don really she is executive vice president now.... she is overseeing those divisions I'm sure someone else will be lead on gaming and reporting to her.... but yeah I think it could be a good move... time will tell

I think ballmer will be there for a couple years still I believe... especially now that there is no clear heir to the throne internally....

Looking into this a bit more (thanks for the links endimion) I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not. On the one hand, she'll probably be good for the Xbox division in that the hardware has been decided so her relative lack of hardware experience won't matter much and her input in terms of user experience could be a major help in distinguishing the X1 experience. She should also help in getting the same recognizable user experience across multiple devices (I'm thinking smart glass-like linking but on a larger scale) .

On the other hand she has no prior experience in the games industry and her position means she'll be responsible for a lot more than Xbox so her attention will be divided. I think Greenburg & Major Nelson's roles as advisor's just got a whole lot more important.

So, could go either way.

yeap me I'm impatient to see what they will to unify their ecosystem... if played out right it could launch XB products to the next level...

we'll see what happens in the following month until December... a lot of milestone are coming win8.1, WP8 grd 2 and 8.1, XB1 launch with new Kinect... a new update to office 2013... same with visual studia, consolidation of azure and cloud infrastructure, probably new surface hardware..... and I'm probably missing some all that in less than 12 months and WP8, win8 and office are all less than 12 month old this unprecedented at MS... it chose things are moving at corporate HQ and the stock jump is proof that investor took notice and are liking and expecting great things from it....

cause IMO things have been pretty bland for a couple years in the industry....

Hopefully this lady cares about games and less about TV and Kinect.

MS products I meant

This is amazing news. A united front can only promise good things, and better coordination.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.
