Legendary games designer Shigeru Miyamoto has reconfirmed that he is working on a brand new franchise for Nintendo platforms. Miyamoto says he is busy at the moment working on the mysterious title and hinted that it was about time that the team brought out something brand new for the fans. He wouldn’t give out any details regarding the mysterious project, but it will certainly be something to keep an eye on.

“I think it’s about time we brought out a new franchise. I can’t give out details, but that’s the title that’s been keeping me pretty busy lately.”

This is like Willy Wonka working on a new candy! I can't wait to see what this man has in store. With all this Zelda, Mario and Donkey Kong talk I wondered if he even had left over time to work on anything else. Well, I guess he isn't the only one working on those titles. Still, I just know anything this guy makes will be great. It is about time they add to Nintendo's long lasting legacy of franchises.

oh yeah it could come out next year. 2014 is look amazing for the Wii U.

This is very exciting! I hope it's unlike anything we've played before. I also liked his remark about game control. It's one thing I've found about so many modern games like Assassin's Creed and others. You are jumping from tree to tree and killing people, but you aren't really controlling anything. You just push up. You press a button and an elaborate dodge animation is executed. They are fun, and cool to look at. But when you play Mario you are truly in full control. The gameplay experience on Nintendo software is so much more pure and engaging than most modern titles.

very interested to see what this guy has in store. i hoping its an adventure platformer, something like banjoo kazooi on the n64.

I don't want something like either of those titles, but I certainly wouldn't mind something as innovative as Wii Sports was when it was released.... something completely fresh and a new experience.

I've come to expect Miyamoto the Executive speaks out of both sides of his mouth, I'd rather hear about someone that is focused more on games only creating a new franchise like Sakurai or some other developer, although if they are attaching Miyamoto's name to something that does mean it is likely to have a decent budget.
