Forums - General - Which country should I move to?

Fellow gamers, I am considering to move to another country and I would like to hear your opinion about which is the right country for me. First I will tell you a little about the situation and myself.

México is the country I was born in and where I've lived all my life until now. I love my country and most of its culture, but its political system is flawed at a structural level thus affecting every aspect of society such as, national security, employment, education, health and others. It is rather hard to sustain oneself economically; some people are even afraid of financial success because it would be too dangerous for them if the wrong people notice, right now the levels of insecurity and violent deaths are as high as those from a country at war.

About myself, I am a 25 year old male and I recently graduated from the equivalent of a bachelor's degree in Psychology, I would like to study a master's degree in Neuropsychology or something in the field of Neurosciences. I'm willing to learn a third language (besides english and spanish) such as a germanic language. I'm willing to move to a country with a stable economy, a high employment rate and a low crime rate, I'd like to live in a country where religion is not very relevant or that is very diverse regarding religion since I'm an atheist (about 82% of mexicans are roman catholics, and I'm sick of it) I also need very liberal policies regarding marriage equality since I am homosexual and I would consider marrying a man someday (homophobia is pretty awful in México too). I tend to lean towards left-wing governments. A country where Sony owns Microsoft would also be appreciated… oh wait, the PS4 will dominate globally! Don't have to worry about that then.

Some of the countries I'm considering that best match these criteria are New Zealand, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Netherlands, Australia and Canada. I'm not considering the US because the process is very long and difficult and I don't even like the country that much, the US has its own plethora of problems too. It would be really helpful if you can tell me about your experience of these countries if you know about them, if you have visited or lived in them, even better if you know about the process to reside in the country. One of the most important things I'm taking into account is the policies for foreign people to work or study in the country, permanent residence and immigration.

If you would like to know more about the situation in México I recommend watching this:

I don´t know, but stay away from Brazil, this place blows.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

'murica. cause we're the best.

All of this, of course, is just my opinion.

Skyrim 100%'d. Dark Souls 100%'d.
Dark Souls > Skyrim.
Halo 4 is the best damn FPS since Halo 3.
Proud pre-orderer of 2 PS4's and an Xbox One.

Currently Playing: Dark Souls II, South Park
Playstation 4: MGS V GZ, Killzone: Shadow Fall, NBA 2k14.

From what you've described, Australia would be an excellent choice for you.

Edit. Just read the part where you said you were gay.

New Zealand just passed gay marriage rights so maybe you'd be better off there.

Why not just go to Germany? The place is clean (from what I've heard), has a supposedly great economy, and some of the other things you've mentioned. I would say you should personally research a little more about Germany, because it seems like it's a fit. (The only thing I don't know about is Gay rights.)

America isn't an ideal choice for anyone to move to. Shit's fucked these days. And not because of "that Obama" either.

Australia seems like a good choice.

Both major politcal parties are more right wing though but there are still many socialist aspects to the country (health care system etc).
Economy is very good
Crime rate is low
Very multicultural, atheism quite popular.
You shouldn't have any issues with homophobia
Gay marriage isn't legal yet, but looks very likely to happen in the near future.

The Bundestag has just passed a law that equalizes gay couples and "normal couples" (for the lack of a better word now) tax-wise. Marriage is of course allowed, so that should be fine.

Economy is good too; however, the Euro crisis has not passed Germany without leaving a mark, so it isn't as good these days as it was a little while ago. Still fine in my opinion though.
