Forums - Nintendo - Is the Wii U actually anyone's main console?

So?

Yes 144 67.92%

Hell No! 68 32.08%

Total:212

The Wii U might actually do really well this gen because it is the default second console, lol.

Nope, cant see how any sensible person would subject themselves to Nintendo's constant delays, inconstant release schedule and inability to support is own peripherals for the sake of one maybe two games a year.

The results of the poll are somewhat surprising as of now. I expected it to be an overwhelming no, but it's not.

My best friend owns a Wii U, but she doesn't play a lot because she's pissed off there are not a lot of games

did your friend not see that coming?

Unfortunely no, she bought it a few weeks after it launched, and well I was excited as well to be honest, didn't expect the huge flop.

this might sound dickish, but thats kinda not Ninty's fault, research.

For this generation it is going to be. I own PS3, but my Wii was my "main" console last gen as well, simply by virtue of the fact that I played more games on it, more often. I mainly use my PS3 for media streaming.

This gen, I just am not that interested in what I've seen early on from PS4, and cannot afford nor justify spending $500+ on another console. I already have a Wii U, and am greatly looking forward to many games, but retail and eShop, that are coming to it. In my personal case, even if if Wii U doesn't get certain third party titles, such as GTA, Battlefield, etc., I will not be "missing out" on anything, because I don't buy those games for my PS3 either. I do believe the more third party titles Wii U can get the better, which is always the case for any console. But I personally won't be missing out on much, if Wii U gets skipped over for certain games. The only way this wouldn't be the case, is for example any potential future Vanillaware games, etc. coming to another console other than Wii U.

See my above statements to try and understand how your initial assessment could conceivably be incorrect.

Wii U is, and will continue to be my main console throughout the upcoming gen. I can forfeit a lot of 3rd party games in favour of Nintendo games. Also there will be exclusives such as Bayo 2, Sonic, W101, X, 3rd party multiplats that are coming this year are all high quality. I still feel that when the install base grows, Wii U will at least get a few future multiplats to fill some of the gaps.

At the moment, no, but in the future probably. Honestly 60% of my console gaming time is usually spend on Nintendo games, another 10% on third party games on Nintendo system, and 30% on multiplats or Sony games. So the Wii U will be my primary console.

Are you kidding dude? Of course Wii U is my main console. It's the only next gen console I plan on owning. Xbone and PS4 don't interest me in the slightest. I still play a lot of COD and SSX on the 360 but otherwise xbone and PS4 are nothing to me.

Wii U will be my secondary console after I buy it this year. You can guess what my main console is.

I don't find Third Party games to be a pull at all, including ones on the Wii U. (Other than the possible exclusive like Sonic Lost World which actually looks surprisingly good.) I'm the problem. The generic Nintendo Fan that doesn't buy Third Party games, except I have a reason.

They all have, though :P

But yeah, I also have a reason for not buying most 3rd party games on the WiiU - I buy them on the PC instead XD
