Forums - Sony - Sony's DualShock 4 light bar can't be turned off to save battery

OMG, that's it. I'm not buying a PS4 now. I refuse to buy a console where the manufacturer forces features on me that I don't want....

Sorry, couldn't resist the jab.

A little Out but does any else find it funny that in order to use all the features of the ps4 You actually end up paying more theN just getting an x1

Even if you get they eye, 460 is still less than 500.

But you forgot to add in the price of the vita so you can use the remote play feature which adds about 200 on top of the 460

And how much are you spending to fully utilize all the features and services on the X1?  How much are you spending on the device to run Smartglass?  How much do you have to spend on a cable subscription in order to use all those TV features that the X1 offers?   Oh, and why stop there?  How much are you spending on the TV that you need in order to connect your consoles to in order to use "all the features"?  How much are you spending on electricty to power those devices?   or how about the couch that you sit on to play those consoles?  Sorry, but your argument is asanine.

"who's bright idea was this? I mean, Damn you Sony, forcing a mandatory blue light on us."

Hahahahahahaha, I'll give you Xbox fanboys credit for trying.  In that case you didn't include the price of the windows tablet on top of the XBone so you can get that "full experience."  Your just Trollin now.

One you don't have to have a windows tablet any smartphone tablet or windows 8 machine works with smart glass which is a free ap. 2 the same can be said about the ps4 since I highly doubt none of there games won't use a second screen. 3 yes I was trolling a little  just bored lol

But the PS4 is going to have an App as well... I don't blame you for trolling this thread,  anyone that thinks this is an issue is lost.

I don't see how this isn't considered an annoyance because it blatantly will be. You guys do know its ok to admit the tiniest negative don't you. Its really not a deal breaker though and they could probably change it in a later revision if people do complain.

By the way, to the query regarding playing in the dark, I game on a projector and my room is always blacked out but I don't consider this a problem giving the light bleed I get from my screen anyway.

Does anyone know exactly how "bright" the bar will be? I don't think this has ever been established. People are acting as if it's brighter than the bat signal.

As someone said before...your tv projects light so playing in the dark is not a complaint.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Okay most of the posts in this thread are jokes right? I mean no one is REALLY complaining about this? I mean seriously? The indicator on the current PS3 controllers is always on(granted it is a lot smaller). Also the light on the 360 controller is always on and it is pointed directly at your face. And even with this like it is pointed away from you and down. This is such a non issue to have anyone complain about it is just silly.

Oh and just a question what is up with everyone playing in the dark most of the time? That is kind of creepy lol. :-p

Low priority yes, non issue no.

I currently cannot stand the little red LED lights on the DS3 that reflect off my tv.  They're so intrusive and once you notice them on the screen you cannot halp but notice them all the time. They cannot be unseen.

Now the lights are what 10000% bigger? Though they do seem to be a little dimmer, at least I hope they are.

But that means you can't stand the 360 design as well seeing as it is always staring you in the face. It just seems so small that it is barley noticable. I don't know I guess out of all the things to worry about the led light being on with be nothing seeing as it was even one on the old PS2 controllers. But yeah I can see where you are comin gfrom though.

I don't think you guys understand exactly how little power three LEDs actually use.

I will have fun swapping out rechargeable battery packs on the more comfortable controller instead of having to sit 2 feet away from the TV while the controller is charging.

Heres a quick and easy solution, so easy even a caveman can do it!

Step 1) Recharge controller as you are sleeping, the PS4 does not need to be turned on for the controller to recharge.

Step 2) use controller for the entire day and have fun playing however far away from the TV you want to be.

Repeat steps 1 and 2.

Or do what I do with the PS3 on PS4 ,  run a  small usb hub  from the PS3 with a second controller attached  and swap over when one runs out , or if you like  instead of a hub  use the other port ( I have the camera in the other PS3 usb port ) .

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

The light bar is not useless, it can show damage and health and identify the player, its not much but whatever.
