JRPG's are like art.. so that easily

JRPG.

Mass Effect and Skyrim are the only WRPG that I liked

and we have Kingdom Hearts...

Xenoblade

not WRPG, not JRPG

Just Xenoblade

JRPGs have more variety in the mechanics

If you compare final fantasy, tales, suikoden, breath of fire and legaia

all of them have something that make them unique

FF has the action time bar
suikoden has the castle feature and 108 characters
tales has hack and slash battle system
legaia has fighting games commands in the battles to make combos
breath of fire has the enemy skill mechanic

WRPG's because I actually think Story, characters, combat and a cohesive narrative are important to making a good RPG, hell even a good game

Without order nothing can exist - without chaos nothing can evolve.

Wrpgs are better, tho ni no kuni has become one of my favorites

I grew up with JRPGs, and I really like the narrative with lots of JRPGs.

I see the appeal for WRPGs, I just prefer JRPGs if I were to choose. Though normally I don't care if it's WRPG or JRPG, I like RPGs in general.

WRPG
1. I like the more open world approach. You can go wherever you want at the beginning of the game.
2. I like have choices that influence the story(mass effect style)
3. I prefer the overall feel of freedom that wrpg have.
4. I hate the turn based combat of jrpg's. Wrpg have more of an immediate control action approach

Italic: Personally I think that can detract from the story of a game, however I also think #1 and #3 coincide with each other.  Sometimes I do like having the huge open world where I can go anywhere any time (which kind of is why I play MMORPG's sometimes).
Bold: Shin Megami Tensei
Underlined: I wouldn't make that generalization about JRPGs.  Plenty of them are turn-based, but there are a fair share of JRPGs that don't.

JRPG's for the simple fact that most WRPG's have way to much stuff to do that it overwhelms me. I like when a game is linear because then I don't feel like I'm missing out things.
