Forums - Sony - First Impressions: Could the PS4 Controller Be Gaming's Greatest Ever Input Device?

What does it matter that Ouya won't sell 50 million units? I hope those straws you're grasping can hold your weight.

And the optional WiiU pad is actually nice. If Sony is going to stick with a dated design, they should have copied that. The sticks are not offset but they are also not so close you can bump fingers when using both. A nice compromise.

Either way the point remains.. sticks not offset = by default cannot be the best controller design. Yes that's opinion but just as much opinion as anyone stating otherwise, including the quote in the OP. Nothing more to say on the matter.

My fingers bumping together were a major annoyance and one of my main issues with Dualshock controllers, but from the looks of things the DS4's touchpad will force the sticks far enough apart for that not to be as much of an issue.

@Brendude

I could post more. From the looks of things, staggered sticks is the "go to" design for Android gaming.

can't say how i will like the triggers but everything else got exactly the improvements i wanted. well, one stick has still the wrong place for me but yeah, that's not really a prob...

i even believe i will like it as much or even more as the xb1 controller since they changed some stuff i loved on the 360 controller. the xb1 controller is little bit smaller, the sticks are smaller and they need less pressure. all three things something which is bad for me. only great improvement i see for myself is the rumble in the triggers. never had problems with the battery case on the back so that improvement doesn't help me.

i just wonder what all the guys say now who defended the ds3 so much as perfect contoller? with so many changes in no way could those like the ps4 controller more as the ds3 but i'm sure most of them will say exactly that lol.

No - overall, nothing still beats K+M combo.

Controller-wise, I really wish they've made it break-apart controller, so both classic and motion controls could be done in one package.

I like offset sticks better, but it's not something too critical. My main concern with the PS controllers was always that the sticks were too close together and this doesn't look like it's changed. As always, it'll be the great games that make me get used to another controller.

They have changed, the cvg review details that they are slightly further apart due to the touchpad and that the sticks themselves have less travel, so that they are more responsive and you are far less likely to bang your thumbs together. The cups also make it less likely for your thumbs to slip of, resulting in the same thing.

Hmm interesting....

Its all up to opinion, I'll have to wait and see.

I personally like the DS3 over the 360 controller

But the DS4 doesn't have the power of the cloud

So my head is all kinds of messed up

Half of these guys must be experts at faking orgasms....

No, but it definitely takes the award of the ugliest controller ever.

i call bullshit. Nothing can beat the n64 controller

Everyone praises the shit out of the DS4, wow. Cant wait to get my hands on it!
