Man, all this news does is remind me of when I bought the 2012 FF7 re-release on Square's website, but then couldn't get the Tifa's Bootleg mod to install to it properly no matter what I did. Knowing me I'll probably buy the Steam version hoping the mod will work with this one, or that there will be other mods released just for this version, and then it won't and I'll be disappointed again.

I wouldn't, from what I've heard it's the same version. And currently FF7music.exe doesn't work with it. That will probably be fixed by the modders though.

I think I was using Bootleg 040.

 The problem was I would always get an error message when running bfe.exe about "Sprinkles folder is missing" or something and it wouldn't continue.  So I'm guessing something was  blocking the mod's access to creating that folder.  I tried disabling UAC, disabling all antivirus, running the mod as administrator, and had the game installed to a non program files folder, but still got that error.  Reinstalled the game multiple times and tried again but it just wouldn't work :
