I personally am happy we are seeing so many forms of hardware again designed for gamers. Razer Edge Tablet, Razer Blade laptop, Ouya, Nvidia Shield, Moga Pro controller for Android and Windows Pohone...

You think any of that stuff will sell? Even Shield?

I personally don't think about if it will sell or not. I like playing with hardware, interfaces and different ideas about what gaming should be like.

We have to keep in mind that each company defines success differently. These companies may not even need to sell a million units to have a successful product.

Razer for example couldn't make enough Razer Edge Pro tablets initially- http://liliputing.com/2013/03/razer-edge-pro-1300-gaming-tablet-pre-orders-paused-to-catch-up-with-demand.html

It also is getting very good reviews for the Razer Blade laptop - http://www.theverge.com/2013/7/2/4486190/razer-blade-review-14-inch

Ouya is sold out as far as we know, as even some Kickstarter backups havent gotten their kits yet. Its also funded with 8.5 million kickstarter money. If they sell 100,000 units, they should be financially successful.

Nvidia Shield is an odd one due to price and limited market it caters to, but its most likely the one I will be buying.

Dunno what's going here in Canada but Ouya is No.1 seller on Amazon.ca...

Did this thing flop? My local gamestop was sold out...

No one really knows but it most likely didn't flop.

This thread is like a console version of being elitist and looking down on products that don't sell millions like consoles do. Kind of like PCs stick it to consoles on specs, graphics and "power" most of the time...

The cool thing about Ouya is that each console is a dev kit as well. So someone that wants to publish actual console games on it(and not just mobile touch screen games) and has limited resources can spend 99 dollars and download an Android SDK and they are good to go.

Of these android cheapo consoles eventually establish a small niche for themselves and the majority use the chrome browser, and take a measurable amount of sales from the big 3, then i will be very happy

I was browsing various places awhile a back and some people were praising it as the second coming of Jesus or something. The console that shall pierce the market and beat out the big 3. Now fast forward a couple years and everyone is trashing on it. I mean seriously, what were the expectations for this thing? The first time I saw it, I thought nothing much of it. It's just seemed like a crappy console to play mobile games on your tv and maybe for some emulation. Nothing ground breaking

it's a phone connected badly via hdmi to a TV rather than a tiny phone screen, I'm not saying you're wrong here, there were people expecting stuff like battlefield and high end PC games on it, fueled a bit more by ONlive going to be on the system big time before that tanked too. If you want to see a pretty funny review to it youtube Ashens and Ouya he does an unboxing of one of the pre release kits.

For so many people to now be quiet about it and say that they didn't back it while there was 8million dollars pumped into a kickstarter project to take a screen off a phone... money well spent.
