Started one year ago? How did Nintendo not make their biggest money making franchise sooner. Also I'm kinda surpirised about how fast they made the game, in the back of my head I'm starting to think maybe it might be a little rushed, hoping its not.

It'll have been almost 2 years in development by the time they release MK8, so I think that's plenty of time of time for game like this. Plus I believe they said they're gonna take as much time as needed for this game, so I'm betting that means they'll delay if they have too. |
I doubt they would delay it, there gonna need something big early next year to keep momentum going after the holidays. A 2nd drought could very well hurt them beyond repair. Worst case scenario, they do what they did with Mario Kart 7 and they get another team to help them out.

They postponed Brawl and LoZ:TP numerous times, so I don't think a MK8 delay is out of the question. Besides, there's Yoshi Yarn, SMT x FE, Bayonetta 2, X, SSB4, that third Sonic exclusive, etc. that could be releasing around the time MK8 would have, so momentum should be maintainable even without MK8. Plus, it's not like the Wii U will be in the same position is was in last year, where it had NSMBU and nothing else. This time it's library will be much more robust with SM3DW, WWHD, DKCTP, WiiFitU, Sonic:LW, Pikmin3, and so ons. |
U make some very good points but at the time Wii was already domintating so I didnt need Brawl at any time. As for Twillight Princess, look at Gamecube sales late 05-06, it really could have used a big game in that time.
Smash Bros Is likely scheduled as a summer release If Kart gets delayed they will probably both be summer releases. Out of those other titles only 1 or 2 are likey slated for Q1, I could see Bayo 2 and Yoshi releasing by the end of the fiscal year but those games are good support titles, not likely to keep momentum going.
Ur right about its holiday releases helping out alot going into next year but consumers will be really pissed if its the second year in a row with a big drought to start of the year. Wii U doesnt 100% absolutely need Mario Kart this spring but it would sure as hell help them out alot.
with the new consoles out it would very wise to have the huge games spread out. Mario Kart in Spring, Smash Bros in Summer and Wii Sports/Zelda for the holidays would be a very good year and have a couple smaller exclusives in between, games like Yoshi, Sonic, X, Bayo fill that role.
