hmmm...i dont know--i think the board itself will cross high numbers but the game.....not really b/c they will release updated versions of it

Wii Fit outselling Wii Play? Hmmm... Almost everyone Wii owner wants (heck, needs) a second controller. I don't think they all want an exercise 'game' with a wireless bathroom scale. And Wii Play is currently 8.5M ahead. Unless Nintendo discontinues Wii Play (which would be stupid since it's an easy profit), then I expect Wii Play to continue to be the best selling game not including Wii Sports.



Numbers are like people. Torture them enough and you can get them to say anything you want.

wii play's attach rate should only rise

it was hurt by the fact that it wasn't out at launch in all territories

i got my wii launch day and bought my 3 extra wiimotes+nunchuks that week, well before the mid-january wii play launch, so i don't get to get wii play

even this past year i'm sure there are many people who couldn't find wii play so just bought their controllers without it and thus won't get wii play

as there are less shortages of wii play and the base of early users in my situation becomes a smaller % of overall owners, the attach rate should increase

 Except the facts are saying otherwise, Wii fit is stronger than Wii play in Japan, in fact its sold almost 60% of Wii play sales in just over a month



 

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

And SSBM outsold Galaxy in a weekend.  (shrugs) 

Demand is often high for a game at launch and slowly goes down afterwards.  And your point is only valid in Japan where the attach rate for Wii Play is around 1 in 4.  But worldwide, the game is closer to 1 in 2.  So I stand by what I said, but I'll clarify it for you: Wii Play will continue to be the best selling game WORLDWIDE not including Wii Sports.

It definetly will not be the highest selling game of this generation. There are many games announced/unannouced on each console, including the Wii, which will be the best selling of this generation.
