Forums - Gaming - Looking for a secondary console

Okay, so at the moment I only own a PS3 and I'm looking for a second console because I've played so many games on my PS3, I'm running out of games that interest me to play. So I've decided upon buying another console/handheld, problem is, I don't know which one to buiy. I already pre-ordered my PS4 so a Vita stands out to me, BUT I don't see any games on Vita that I can see myself getting sucked into. I had a Xbox 360 at the beginning of this gen, and I've played Gears 1-2 and Halo 1-3 and Forza when I had it, and since then they haven't really came out with anything new that interests me, so that's pretty much out of the question. I've already decided upon buying a Wii U when X releases, because I've always wanted an sandbox anime game with mechs and total freedom, so pretty much my options are either a PS Vita or a 3DS.....

I know the 3DS has more and better games, but I'll want a PS Vita for my PS4....So I'm pretty much torn and don't know what to get, what would you do if you were me?

You should get a Wii. The console is dirt cheap now (I've seen it available on Amazon for less than $40) and there are tons of great games on it, likely new for you since you seemed to have been a Ps360 guy this gen. Try out the Zelda games, Smash Bros, both Mario Galaxies, and I heard great things about Xenoblade Chronicles. Also it plays gamecube games so you'd be getting two consoles for like 40 bucks, which is insane.

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

If you are a PS Plus subscriber, then I say get a PS Vita because you'll already own several games ready to download.

Ps vita will probably get a price drop soon... Also nvidia shield $299 will steam pc steam games as well a being a very powerful Android tablet

I thought about it, but I thought the Wii U was backward compatible, but I never knew the Wii was Gamecube compatible, I have a shit ton of old GC games...I might have to consider it now, thanks for the suggestion!

Why not a WiiU?  Can you go this gen away from their games? You're already getting a PS4 and multiplats are your friend there now. The Vita is a good choice also if you intend on using the features with PS4 very frequently. 3DS has an awesome library, is cheap and is just plain awesome, I'm even getting one for Christmas. I see why you're stuck, but WiiU!!

Edit: Derp.

Geez... because there's so many to choose from, right?

Game on your PC until PS4 comes out.

Problem is, most PC games that aren't MMO's and Indie games that interest me I already own on my PS3, and I'm not a big fan of LoL or WoW clones and PC modding isn't as fun as I thought it'd be. =/

Get a Vita with Persona 4 Golden and you'll be set untill the PS4 comes out. Plus as others have said if you have PS+ you'll get Gravity Rush, Uncharted, and Wipeout 2048 which are awesome!
