Forums - Gaming - Looking for a secondary console

If you already decided to buy a WiiU when X comes out and your looking for a secondary console now, I'd sugjest on not waiting and buy a WiiU now and enjoy all the Wii catalogue it has.

Not only the Wii games will keep you busy till PS4 or X but that way you will still get to enjoyZombiU, Pikmin3 in a month, W101 and Rayman Legends in september and LoZ:WW in October. All of them before the PS4 launch. And then SM3DW, MK8 and most likely Bayonetta will all launch before X so I don't see the point on choosing to wait a rediculous amount of time for a game to launch before buying a console when you will simply be missing out on so many great games.

If you have to choose between Vita and 3DS, take 3DS. Kid Icarus, Lugi's mansion, SM3DL, MK7, Fire Emblem, OoT3D, Animal Crossing and many more are all must have games. With even more coming like Pokémon and LoZ:ALbW both by the end of the year. Meanwhile Vita has nothing and Sony pretty much gave up on the system, it has even fallen so low that their main argument they are giving us now to buy a Vita is not Vita games but PS4. ''Buy a 300$ second screen addon for your brand new 400$ PS4 so you can leave your 1080p giant screen in order to be able to play your PS4 games while on the toilet!''

Around the Network

I feel really like the odd-man out. If you've already decided to get a Wii U, there is no reason to pull the trigger now. Nintendo might drop the price or something might happen to change your mind. I know. I'm in the same boat.

Personally, I'd say save your money and get a PSP.

You can get a used PSP for about $50, which means that for the price of a Vita and a memory card big enough to fit free PS+ games on, you could have every title worth having on the PSP. Especially if you're willing to put up with the shorter battery life and noise from a UMD: used UMD games are dirt cheap on the internet and you don't need a big memory card for them, either.

Try to expand into playing video game genres that you've never really been too interested in. While I don't agree that many games being praised are good games, Mass Effect having great dialogue but being complete garbage in my opinion, there are a lot of games for this gen you might not have tried out because it wasn't something that really interested you. Maybe games like Yakuza, Prototype, Infamous 2, Tales of Graces, Sleeping Dogs, The Saboteur, Mirror's Edge, Valkyria Chronicles, Siren the Blood Curse etc.

If you don't mind digital downloads and haven't played any of the PSX titles, there are a lot I'd recommend.

As for other consoles, I'd recommend the Vita, the 3DS XL, or both.

If you were to get the Vita, I'd recommend to purchase PS+ and the first party titles you'll usually hear people praising, like Uncharted, Gravity Rush, Unit 13, Wipeout 2048, and LBP. All of them are great games. I honestly don't thin much of anything else on the system as I don't download digital and the other games, including Persona 4 I've played on another system. There's Ragnarok Odyssey which is okay, but wouldn't recommend it personally.

There are also a lot of PSP titles worth purchasing that are playable on the PS Vita. Brave Story, Dracula X Chronicles, Resistance Retribution, Final Fantasy 4 Complete Collection, Ys series, Trails in the Sky, Gurumin, Wild ARMs XF,  Valkyria Chronicles 2, etc.,

If you were to purchase the 3DS. I'd recommend Fire Emblem, Shin Megami Tensei Soul Hackers, Cave Story, Castlevania Lords of Shadow, and maybe Etrian Odyssey. There's really not much on it that's good either. The first party games on the 3DS aren't as good as you hear, but if you do pick any of them up, Super Mario 3D Land and New Super Mario Bros. 2.

The 3DS is backwards compatible with every DS game in your region, and most DS games not of your region. Feel the Magic, Retro Game Challenge, Contra 4, Solatorobo, Advance Wars Dual Strike, Aliens Infestation, Dragon Quest and Dragon Quest Monsters series, Phantasy Star Zero, etc.
