If you're willing to wait an unknown but supposedly short amount of time (days?), Cube World. The demo is supposed to go live very soon, with the open Alpha being released shortly after that. The alpha will not be free, but it will follow a Minecraft like model.

Understandable. I myself like a healthy dose of both. Maybe Castle Crashers, then? There are also tons upon tons of quick and free browser-based games on sites like Newgrounds and Kongregate that really fit the description "dumb fun". (although many of the games on Newgrounds place a special emphasis on the first word)
