Demon's Souls was the original game developed by From Software (King's Field and Armored Core Franchises) published by Sony in Japan. It was later published by Atlus in North America and Namco Bandai in Europe and it became a cult smash.

From Software must have really impressed Namco Bandai as they put up the cash necessary for another game just like Demon's Souls which is  "spiritual sequel" because they don't own the rights to the Demon's Souls name. Hence it is Dark Souls and its upcoming sequel Dark Souls 2.

Xenoblade and Alan Wake.

The Last of Us. Gritty, brutal and viceral gameplay along with excellent story and character development.

Bioshock, hands down a spiritual successor to system shock.

I would have said Demon/Dark souls or Uncharted a week ago, but after playing TLOU nothing can come close to that game tbh. ( That I've played)

Tie between Uncharted, Dead Rising, Assassins Creed (especially 2 and Brotherhood) and Lost Odyssey. Still haven't played The Last Of Us probably will end up being on the list also.

Resistance was actually a very good game with SP co-op and fun multiplayer experiences to boot. I'm looking forward to seeing a potential sequel on PS4
