LOL They seem to forget are games are Nintendo's forte.

Fixed

People actually buy Nintendo consoles primarily for their 1st party games.

Sony relies heavily on 3rd parties.

Sony has more new IP's than both Nintendo and Microsoft. What are you talking about? Gamestop even made an article about it a couple years back. They are more heavily involved in pumping out new IPs. Your bias knows no bounds. MS is just starting to properly invest in first party, while Sony has had great first party for years but was forced by Microsoft invest twice as heavily into it in their third generation.

so is that Sony's excuse for not having sustainable IPs?

Killzone

Uncharted

Little Big Planet

Infamous

The Last Of Us

and lets not forget the ALMIGHTY Gran Turismo!

So what were you saying again?

i had a great big post ready to be posted, but unfortunately, the power went out and the post was gone D:

anyways, if you compare these IPs to Nintendo's, they still appear relatively new, besides Gran Turismo, and I don't even know why the fuck you included TLOU as a sustainable IP when it just released :P

Don't bring up Nintendo, considering they are notorious for re-hasing their IP's and releasing the same stuff over and over with minor changes, I may get flaked for this comment, but I could care less, they have massively stifled themselves in terms of innovation as far as I'm concerned.

The Last Of Us also has steller upfront sales for a new IP and great critical reception, it's not going anywhere.

sure, since any IP that beats the Sony IPs is rehashed -.- , let's just ignore how Mario Kart is different from Mario galaxy which is different from Mario 64 which is different from sunshine which is different from new super luigi U which is different from Mario Party which is different from Mario Golf, let's ignore that the highest rated game of the generation was Super Mario Galaxy, let's ignore that the highest rated game of all time is The Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time, let's ignore that Sony(and everbody else) copied Nintendo's Controllers and innovations and just say that Nintendo doesn't innovate, let's ignore that I said sustainable IPs, as in, IPs that lasted for a while, and you listed a game that just released.

yeah, have fun with that mindset

It's late, and after that post I'm not going to even waste my time arguing with you. There are so many substantial flaws in your argument it's remarkable.

Just as a  final note before I go to bed however, I could care less if a Sony game sells less than a Nintendo game, as sales don't denote quality and innovation.

Goodnight sir.

funny, Sony drones always bring up the fact that PS1 and PS2 outsold the N64 and GC, but when the argument of sales is not in their favour, they find a way to twist it into one that does fit their favours.

goodnight to you too sir :P

Spot on. Buy the system that suits your preference. All systems have great games, and its never about qauntity its about the Quality.

Four great games this generation? Wow dude....so be it if thats your opinion.

"Great" is a very, very high rank for some.

There are about 12 games across all platforms for the 7th gen that I'd call "great."

I think there were more than twelve great new franchises that would come out across the board. There were more great games in all than just IP's.

"Great" is reserved for the absolute best of the best for me. A game can still be excellent, but not quite great, in my view.

Well thats subjective, I'm stating objectively here where games were critically acclaimed and got excellent reviews. I used to ignore indy games because I was biased and I admit it, but they brought me back to Nintendo (and if Sega were around same thing) and reminded me of the fun I used to have with Nintendo. I don't care any longer than Nintendo doesn't make new IP's as long as they keep making games. I didnt buy the Wii, but the Wii U is on my radar because of it.

Flower, Unfinished Swan, Journey, Dead Nation, Braid, 3D Dot Heroes, Shadow Complex, Outland and many, many more. Took me back and gave me a greater appreciation for the styles of old instead of  just the evolution which is the spectacle of today.

I missed that one.

I agree specs are "meaningless" when you have lower specs and lower price... not when you have lower specs and higher price.

And of course... games matters too.

It makes me wonder, don't these xbox guys feel embarassed, with their "custom" design being humiliated by Sony's "off the shelf" parts ?

Even critical acclaim and reviews are subjective opinions of said critics and reviewers though. But I'm glad there were so many great games for you.

Great just means a different thing to me.

Damage control at it's worst. I wonder what it would have been like if it was the other way round.
