Brutal Doom 64 Version 2.5 available for download
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/brutal-doom-64-version-2-5-available-for-download/
Modder ‘swc132994’ has released an unofficial update to Sergeant_Mark_IV’s Brutal Doom 64 v2. Brutal Doom 64 Version 2.5 contains many bug fixes as well as added monsters from Onox792’s Project Nightmare among other additions.

This 19GB Skyrim 4K Mod overhauls all of the Creation Club textures
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/this-18gb-skyrim-4k-mod-overhauls-all-of-the-creation-club-textures/
Modder ‘HeartAttackMan’ has released a pretty cool HD Texture Pack for Skyrim Special Edition. This pack is 19GB in size and overhauls all the textures of Creation Club.
According to the modder, the maximum size for most textures is 4K. Additionally, textures that were already in 4K have been cleaned and saved with a lower compression.
In order to install this pack, you can either use a mod manager or drop the downloaded folders in your Data folder. HeartAttackMan also plans to create a version that is compatible with the Anniversary Edition.
>> This mod is available from Nexus Mods.

This mod rolls back Skyrim Anniversary Edition to Special Edition version 1.5.97
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/this-mod-rolls-back-skyrim-anniversary-edition-to-special-edition-version-1597/
A big drawback to the Skyrim Anniversary Edition being an upgrade to Skyrim Special Edition, instead of a completely separate version of the game, is that the new edition can break your mods. Even if you didn't buy Skyrim AE, you may still experience mod incompatibility due to Bethesda's update to the Special Edition.
While the 'modpocalypse' might not be as severe as expected due to Bethesda giving the creator of Skyrim Script Extender early access to the changes made by the AE, there are still plenty of reports of broken mods circulating. As a result, some players with heavily modded games simply want to roll back to Skyrim Special Edition version 1.5.97.
Now there's a mod that can do that for you. The Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Downgrade Patcher (should we shorten that to USSEDP?) will downgrade Skyrim from the AE version back to SE version 1.5.97. Then you can pretend the Anniversary Edition never happened, meaning your plugins, ENBs, and other mods should work just as they did last week.

Square's cult street racing RPG has been translated into English after 22 years
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/squares-cult-street-racing-rpg-has-been-translated-into-english-after-22-years/
Racing Lagoon is a 1999 game by Square that is hard to pigeonhole: inspired by Japan's problems with illegal street racing in the 1980s, it cast you as one such miscreant in a world where you alternate between racing, an RPG-style story, and relatively in-depth car customisation. It was released on PlayStation, never made it out of Japan, never got a sequel, and in the years since has acquired something of a cult status for certain Square fans.
So much so that one group, led by translator Hilltop, decided to translate the full game into English: and now they're done (thanks Kotaku). "The past six months have been an absolute pleasure, and I've been humbled by the amount of support this project has gotten," writes Hilltop. "Over twenty years later, it is finally time for the rest of the world to experience one of the most unique and memorable RPGs ever created. I want to extend my deepest thanks to the rest of the team and to everyone who kept the dream of this game's localization alive."
You can download the localisation patch here, which comes with instructions for how to apply it to your legally obtained Racing Lagoon .bin file.

Modders are fixing GTA Trilogy's rain already
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/modders-are-fixing-gta-trilogys-rain-already/
One of the many messed-up things players have noticed about Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition is the rain. It falls in thick, vision-obscuring white lines—unless it's over the water, in which case it suddenly vanishes. It's as if rain goes behind the ocean. Even if it weren't for that, those ropy strands don't do as much for the atmosphere as a rainy night did in the originals.
Modders are already working on improving the rain, beginning by making it more transparent. GTATrilogyMods has a fix on Patreon, with version 1.1 free to download though you'll need to subscribe for early access to version 1.2. On the GTA Forums iNSANE666 has mods for better rain in GTA 3, as well as busted, wasted, and menu screens, which will be arriving on Nexus Mods once its page for the trilogy goes live. In the meantime, you can download the lot as a zip file. And on Portuguese site mixmods, Jessica Natália has uploaded a mod that makes rain more transparent in all three games.
While it's quite spread out at the moment, the trilogy's modding scene is already hard at work on multiple projects. There's a full radio restoration aiming to bring back the removed songs, which has currently got as far as Vice City's Flash FM, a tweak to get rid of the white outlines around targeted pedestrians, and one that fixes Grove Street gang members having an outline of the number 7 on their jerseys when they're wearing number 3, 5, or 9.

DX12 can completely fix the performance issues of GTA The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition

https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/warframes-biggest-cinematic-expansion-ever-is-coming-in-december/
Warframe: The New War was finally revealed in July at TennoCon 2021, but unfortunately the big unveiling came without any sort of release target. Battlefield 2042 players are demanding a traditional scoreboard

Battlefield 2042 has only just launched for those who buy into the game early (you can read out review-in-progress here), and players already have a wishlist of changes for DICE to implement. Chief among them, judging by BF2042's official subreddit, is a traditional in-game scoreboard.

Battlefield 2042 skin referencing the Russo-Ukrainian War will be renamed
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/battlefield-2042-skin-referencing-the-russo-ukrainian-war-will-be-renamed/

EA didn't say which skin is being renamed in the announcement, but confirmed in a later reply tweet that it will be the "Little Green Man" skin.

The follow-up to horror adventure Maid of Sker is a co-op shooter, for some reason
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/the-follow-up-to-horror-adventure-maid-of-sker-is-a-co-op-shooter-for-some-reason/
Maid of Sker is an extremely British horror game that sounds a lot like a Frictional outing: It's set in 1898, and tells the tale of "a family empire driven by torture, slavery, piracy and a supernatural mystery." It's based on Welsh folklore, and is set in a real-life historical building in Wales known as Sker House. And it's apparently pretty good: It has a 69/100 aggregate score on Metacritic and a "very positive" user review rating on Steam.
To build on that success, developer Wales Interactive announced a followup today called Sker Ritual. But it's not a horror game—for some reason, it's a "co-op survival FPS."

Battlefield 2042 players are joining XP farming servers only to discover that they're the crops
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/battlefield-2042-players-are-joining-xp-farming-servers-only-to-discover-that-theyre-the-crops/
Battlefield Portal is a tool for creating, hosting, and discovering custom game modes in Battlefield 2042. You can make silly stuff, like 1v64 or knives-only modes, or complex deathmatch variants, or classic Battlefield throwbacks—or you can do what everyone who's currently hogging all the Portal server capacity is doing and make XP farming modes.
Update: DICE temporarily disabled XP in custom Battlefield Portal servers before the weekend, so the XP farms have mostly disappeared for now. (I did see one still going, even though no one's getting any XP from it.)

Free Baba Is You update doubles size of game, adds cross-platform level editor
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/free-baba-is-you-update-doubles-size-of-game-adds-cross-platform-level-editor/
Hempuli Oy has released a sweet update to Baba Is You, the brilliant puzzle game that took us all by surprise in 2019. It's not just the cross-platform level editor that was promised in the past, but a full-on expansion sized load of stuff with it. There are 150 new puzzles, 100 puzzles that showcase unused designs and cut content, and new objects, art, music, etc. It's a lot of extremely exciting stuff if you, like me, want more Baba Is You. It's also free, on top of a game you probably paid no more than $15 US for.

Back 4 Blood is too hard, and Turtle Rock is still finding the right balance
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/back-4-blood-is-too-hard-and-turtle-rock-is-still-finding-the-right-balance/
Back 4 Blood is an "exceptional" zombie co-op zombie shooter, but its difficulty is a bit unbalanced. Some will strenuously deny it, but certain encounters in the game are dramatically tougher than those on either side, and that's not to mention the Corruption Cards that can bank up throughout a run, gradually turning a tense zombie blaster into a test of endurance.

https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/terraria-and-dont-starve-together-will-cross-over-this-month/
Last month, a news post from the developers of Minecraft-esque 2D crafting game Terraria included a surprise gif of Terraria boss the Eye of Cthulhu appearing in Tim Burton-esque multiplayer survival game Don't Starve Together. Then Klei, developers of the Don't Starve games, tweeted a gif of their boss monster the Deerclops appearing in Terraria, before confirming that, yes, a crossover was on the way.

Some steering wheels still don't work in Forza Horizon 5, fix due later this week
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/some-steering-wheels-still-dont-work-in-forza-horizon-5-fix-due-later-this-week/
Forza Horizon 5 sped off from the grid with very positive reviews, with ours reckoning it's the best the series has ever been. One cloud in the Mexican skies, however, is that the game launched on PC and immediately ran into issues with steering wheel support—players trying to use their peripherals were cursed to endless 'wheel disconnected' warnings while trying to enjoy a drive.
Playground Games confirmed it's working on a hotfix that was expected last week, but after running into further issues the developer has delayed it until sometime this week.

Amazon Games switches off New World's entire economy after players discover duping glitch
https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/amazon-games-switches-off-new-worlds-entire-economy-after-players-discover-duping-glitch/
Over the weekend New World players discovered a glitch in Amazon Games' recently launched MMO, and not for the first time. This one allowed players to duplicate furniture among many other items, though the duping of trophies (furniture that buffs you in the world, rare and expensive) is what's got some folk extremely hot under the collar. Players could use this glitch to duplicate a particularly expensive item and sell it for free money.

Nvidia will be releasing 2060 12GB according to GN from their system integrator contacts

As well as other 30 series GPUs with increased vram capacities. While we seen some rumours, generally when GN posts something like this, it's typically true. If properly priced, a 2060 12GB would be a good edition to the GPU lineup, especially with it's Ray Tracing and DLSS capabilities. 12GB does seem kinda silly but never hurts and because Nvidia kinda put themselves in a corner due to the 3060 price, it will certainly be cheaper than $329... Least at MSRP...

Oof at GTA demasters. I'm glad I still have the originals on Steam. Between those god awful character models, missing OST's and terrible art direction (and effects like rain) think I'd stick to the old games. I'm not sure wth Rockstar were thinking when they didn't at least put some of the original devs on that instead of completely outsourcing this to some mobile port dev :s Awful.

And that NVMe HDD is interesting. Wonder how that will work and its performance. Anything to improve HDD tech is a good thing. SSD's modules are still very pricey for the capacity this would make a good middle ground.

So the rumor turned out to be true. Now let's wait to see people complaining that it's not ready and that they should have waited the extra month to launch a more polished product.

Even the Switch should be able to run those games at 1080p and locked 30fps with relative ease.

This is one (or three?) of the games that will appear in most recap of the year features that some sites do, but as one of the biggest disappointments.
