Valve hopes the latest Dota 2 update will make it more 'welcoming' for new players
http://www.pcgamer.com/valve-hopes-the-latest-dota-2-update-will-make-it-more-welcoming-for-new-players/
The multiplayer online battle arena is not the easiest genre in the world to dip a tentative toe into. There's a lot of information, and learning the ropes in the midst of a hyper-competitive online milieu that's not known for being forgiving to newcomers can be off-putting, to say the least. To help ease new Dota 2players into the action, Valve recently made a couple of changes to the game that it says are intended to help them "face as few barriers as possible" when they start playing.

'I could run naked through E3, and PUBG would still be finished,' says Brendan Greene of dedicated team and Q4 delay
http://www.pcgamer.com/i-could-run-naked-through-e3-and-pubg-would-still-be-finished-says-brendan-greene-of-dedicated-team-and-q4-delay/
By the time the next E3 rolls around, PUBG should be well into full release, and while creator Brendan Greene first suggested he and his team required just six months to grow the game pre-launch, he recently admitted "Q4" was a more realistic target window. This pushes the game by just a few more months, however Greene puts his initial optimism down to his own naivety.

I can see that happening. I never even bought multiple GPUs since the list of games that scale well isn't that high.

It's not that surprising, to be honest.

Nvidia decided to limit SLI to just 2 cards with the 10 series, saving them a lot of troubles, time and work with their drivers, and while AMD still offers Quad X-fire support, they barely talk about X-fire in any of their conferences. It wouldn't surprise me if they follow the same path and offer only 2 card Crossfire in the near future.

After all, not many people use more than two cards (Pemalite, you are/were a minority), so this won't affect that many people.

And there's also those rumors and researches from Nvidia and AMD that they could go with a MCM design for their future GPUs, that could be the end of SLI/X-fire as we know them.

On another note, AMD has posted on their blog a list of cooler compatible with Threadripper, and I have to say that one of them has surprised me

Overview of Compatible Coolers For Ryzen Threadripper Processors
http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/overview-of-compatible-coolers-for-ryzen-threadripper-processors.html
Over on the AMD blog a new entry was posted. AMD Threadripper is close to release and while an Asetek bracket is included with the processors (and thus support like 50% of the liquid coolers LCS kits out there), AMD sheds some light on which coolers are compatible.

First thing's first: included with every AMD Ryzen Threadripper is a mounting bracket that enables compatibility with the following 18 closed-loop cooling (CLC) units as of August 1, 2017. Just remove the bracket(s) included with your CLC, then install the one provided by AMD, and your cooler will be Threadripper-ready:

  • Arctic Liquid Freezer 120
  • Arctic Liquid Freezer 240
  • Arctic Liquid Freezer 360
  • Corsair Hydro Series H115i
  • Corsair Hydro Series H100i v2
  • Corsair Hydro Series H105
  • Corsair Hydro Series H80iv2
  • Cryorig A80
  • Cryorig A40 Ultimate
  • Cryorig A40
  • EVGA CLC 280
  • NZXT Kraken X62
  • NZXT Kraken X61
  • NZXT Kraken X52
  • Thermaltake Riing 3.0 RGB 360
  • Thermaltake Riing 3.0 RGB 240
  • Thermaltake Water 3.0 Ultimate
  • Thermaltake Water 3.0 Extreme

As of August 1, 2017, there are also another 9 Threadripper-ready coolers on the way that do not use the AMD-provided mounting bracket. Please confirm with the manufacturer or retailer before purchase, as some of these models pre-date Threadripper and are being updated in production to include the sTR4 hardware:

  • Arctic Freezer 33
  • Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
  • TBA EKWB waterblock for DIY loops
  • TBA EKWB CLC
  • Enermax Liqtech TR4 360
  • Enermax Liqtech TR4 240
  • Noctua NH-U14S TR4-SP3 (air)
  • Noctua NH-U12S TR4-SP3 (air)
  • Noctua NH-U9 TR4-SP3 (air)

I won't deny that it's a good cooler, but will the 212 EVO really be able to cope with a Threadripper processor?

This is 3rd time i warned to folks irl to avoid multi-GPU configurations unless they are up for workstation, game developers will rarely work on SLI/X-Fire for the DX12 or Vulkan even these two APIs already got mGPU support, so whether they invest extra time or just skip it and move on. PC gamers should step away from this stuff and focus on high/top end GPU.

I noticed many youtubers or reviewers rarely upload about multi-GPU, not even they talked about RX 550/560 X-fire.

Many youtubers know sh!t about the hardware they use, so it's no surprise that they don't talk about multi GPU solutions or performance.

And with reviewers the problem are two: the first one is that most of them only get one card at launch, so it's impossible to make those benches, and the other one is that given how poorly optimised are the drivers at launch, imagine how bad must be their X-fire/SLI performance.

I feel bad for those owners of sli/crossfire.

According to Linus Tech Tips it's also because AMD has extremely limited resources right now with APU Development, Vega Development, Ryzen, Epyc and spending resources on Navi's development and Ryzen 2. - Need to remember, they are a smaller company than either Intel or nVidia.

I personally believe AMD and nVidia should open up their drivers for users to make their own crossfire profiles in a marketplace-like fashion where users can vote up and down profiles and download them on a per-game basis.

I found Crossfire to be amazing over the years I have used it. Sure it had its ups and downs, but the demanding games that needed two GPU's working together, tended to get the support they needed.

With that, Crossire and SLI aren't going away, there is just less emphasis on 3-4-way GPU configurations, which does make sense, they were a rarity even in Enthusiast circles.

Art this point I've given up any hope and I've also bought and received my 1080ti. AMD had time to do all this yet they chose to delay  and hype things up while also cherry picking as much as possible. I wouldn't be surprised if the launch is hyped to hell and benchmarks being the finest of picked cherries.

So it looks like I was right ...
