We're far away from an AI acquiring materials to to build its own army, undetected no less. An AI doesn't need a body. It can easily cause a lot of havoc on the internet. Though it would need motivation for that. I think the worst thing that could happen over the next 2 decades is scientists accidentally let an AI loose on the internet and it will cause some disruptions accidentally.

How do we know your not an AI right now trying to trick us into thinking the is nothing to worry about. Next we wake up tomorrow and you have taking over the world! xD.

Would an AI put up with consoles? No, they're way too clever for that already.

GOG offers free games with preorders of Absolver, Hello Neighbor, and more
http://www.pcgamer.com/gog-offers-free-games-for-preordering-absolver-hello-neighbor-and-more/
Preorder bonuses are a common part of the videogame business, but they usually come by way of a game's publisher, and not the platform where it's being sold. But GOG would like you to think about buying games from its digital storefront rather than, you know, elsewhere, and so it's offering free games to people who purchase Absolver, Hello Neighbor, The Pillars of the Earth, and/or Sudden Strike 4 through its storefront.

I have to be honest here; I am a huge fan of TEKKEN 7. And like many PC gamers, I was really frustrated by the lack of online improvements regarding its PC version. Fortunately, though, Bandai Namco has just released a new patch that addresses and improves the overall online experience on the PC.

Night Trap: 25th Anniversary Edition trailer reveals August release date
http://www.pcgamer.com/night-trap-25th-anniversary-edition-trailer-reveals-august-release-date/
The early FMV game Night Trap is notable primarily for three things: Dana Plato, not being very good, and helping to usher in the Entertainment Software Rating Board. So what makes it worthy of a 25th anniversary re-release? I don't know. The world is a strange place. But as we noted back in April, it's happening, and developer Screaming Villains has now confirmed that a PC release will take place on August 15.

Tower of Time, a 'classic RPG' with RTS-style combat, comes to Steam Early Access
http://www.pcgamer.com/tower-of-time-a-classic-rpg-with-rts-style-combat-comes-to-steam-early-access/
Tower of Time, now on Steam Early Access, is an RPG tale of a once-beautiful land left broken by a mysterious cataclysm. 1000 years later, a great tower is uncovered by a massive earthquake, and the power within its walls compels a young boy (because it always is!) to lead a group of champions on a quest to discover its secrets. That's not necessarily the most original story setup ever, but it looks very pretty, and promises a "new take on classic RPGs" by combining isometric, party-based exploration with "small scale" RTS-style combat.

Super Lovely Planet is a little different, and out now
http://www.pcgamer.com/super-lovely-planet-is-a-little-different-and-out-now/
Lovely Planet was a wonderfully colourful, speedrunning first-person shooter/platformer, while its sequel Lovely Planet Arcade ditched the y-axis and focus on platforming, to put more emphasis on the business of shooting stuff. That trend for reinvention continues in the third entry, Super Lovely Planet, which has just released on Steam and the Humble Store.

PUBG studio promises changes to ban system after 'stream sniping' uproar (Updated)
http://www.pcgamer.com/pubg-studio-promises-changes-to-ban-system-after-stream-sniping-uproar/
Last week, one Playerunknown's Battleground player was temporarily banned from the game for team-killing a team-killer. Rules are rules, the admins declared, and thus his plea of self-defense fell on deaf ears. But a more recent and dubious ban, in which a player was given a seven-day timeout following accusations of "stream sniping," has prompted the developer Bluehole to acknowledge that the current system of bans and appeals isn't up to the job.
Update: PUBG creative director Brendan Greene has issued a statement on Twitter saying that he has seen the game data related to the stream sniping accusation, and that the ban was in fact justified. He also said that the fact the accusers were streamers did not have a bearing on the decision.

The August 2017 update is set to implement functionalities for the Wormhole Generator and add new swimsuits for your FOB soldiers, but most notably, it'll give you the ability to play as Revolver Ocelot in FOB infiltration missions.

Here's why the player movement in Quake was slower than Doom
http://www.pcgamer.com/quakes-player-speed-was-slower-than-dooms-and-heres-why/
One of the best things about the original Doom was how fast Doomguy could run: you weren't so much a "guy" as you were a "hurtling rocket of death". So it might have taken some adjustment when Quake released, considering how slow the player-movement was by comparison, though the then-novelty of true 3D no doubt compensated for it.

There is allot of discussion about that and how wasteful it is on tech forums.

Either the dies are blank and specially fabricated for spacing reasons... Or AMD will switch them out for say... Aluminium Spacers for the consumer release. (Just so that there is even pressure across the entire package.)

Keen to see which way they take that. But having two dies completely going unused seems extremely wasteful, even if only 1-2 cores are functioning, they could still be used for some other market segments like Industrial low-power.

Well, replacing two dies that can probably be harvested into Ryzen 5 o 3 chips is smarter than just leaving them there doing nothing., so it wouldn't surprise me to see them replaced by aluminium spacers.

But it would be so cool if AMD leaved them there and someone found a way to bring them to life, even if only in part...

Every month, the developers of the GameCube/Wii emulator Dolphin write an interesting progress report that digs into the emulator's new features, bug fixes, and recent changes. These updates offer some great insight into complex emulation topics and the inner workings of an open source project—you'll always learn something, even if you're not too technically minded. But a lengthy blog updated published on Sunday goes far beyond the usual progress report, offering a detailed look at how Dolphin's developers solved a problem that's been bugging the community for years. Modder brings back Alien: Isolation's VR mode
http://www.pcgamer.com/modder-brings-back-alien-isolations-vr-mode/
Sega showed off a VR mode for the first-person horror game Alien: Isolation, running on an early version of the Oculus Rift way back in the summer of 2014. It never evolved beyond the prototype stage, but the files that enabled the VR mode were still present in the game when it shipped. They were hidden, however, and more to the point inoperable, thanks to the many changes made to the Oculus SDK between the Development Kit 2 (which the demo ran on) and the release of the consumer version a couple of years later. But thanks to the magic of the MotherVR mod being developed by Zack "Nibre" Fannon, it's working (with some limitations) once again.
