@Pemalite: It's the problem of having a platform that has to support chips from two architectures that differ in a lot of things, like dual or quad memory support.

Still, it's the same as with every new platform, it also happened with Ryzen and will happen again with ThreadRipper. They only need time to iron all the issues.

SALES & "SALES"/DEALS

Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault is free right now on Origin
http://www.pcgamer.com/medal-of-honor-pacific-assault-is-free-right-now-on-origin/
If you're in the market for some free gaming (and generally who isn't?) then you'll probably want to head over to Origin, where Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault is currently free as the latest "On the House" offering.

>>If you're having some kind of "déjà vu", it's because EA already put that game on the house a while ago. Given the big, enormous catalog of old games that EA has, it's very disappointing that they're already looping the games they give for free.

Save up to 75 percent on Rebellion games like Sniper Elite this week
http://www.pcgamer.com/save-up-to-75-percent-on-rebellion-games-like-sniper-elite-this-week/
Rebellion has plenty of games to its name, and the majority of them involve big guns. The developer is most known for the Sniper Elite series, you know, the one where you get the x-ray vision of bullets absolutely wrecking the insides of people. If you fancy some gory action this week, there's a Rebellion Sale on the Humble Store.

GOG is still having its Summer Sale, and Steam is having... well, I can't tell you how many games they have on sale because they haven't put the usual list. Why is that? I don't know, but maybe the rumor claiming that Steam's Summer Sale will start this same Thursday, June 22th, is true, after all.

EA’s Origin now allows you to manage download speed, adds FPS counter & cross-game party invites
http://www.dsogaming.com/news/ea-origin-manage-download-speed-fps-counter-cross-game-party-invites/
Electronic Arts has just rolled out a new update for its online distribution service, Origin. This update introduces an option via which PC gamers can finally limit their download speeds. This is a must-have option that should have been included in Origin from the get-go. So, better late than never I guess.

At E3, Bethesda announced the Creation Club, a marketplace that will sell items and mods for Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition—new content created by hired modders. If you don't feel like waiting for it to arrive, or if you're not interested in buying Creation Club mods, here's the next best thing: a mod for Fallout 4 called "The Creation Club", which is a golf club that creates random items each time you swing it. Bonus: it's free!

At E3 2017, Capcom showcased Monster Hunter World behind closed doors and it appears that someone was able to capture 24 minutes of gameplay footage from that presentation. This is a low-quality video, however it will at least give you an idea of what to expect from this new upcoming title.

Call of Duty: WWII multiplayer doesn't have swastikas, and this is why
http://www.pcgamer.com/call-of-duty-wwii-multiplayer-doesnt-have-swastikas-and-this-is-why/
Much has been made of Sledgehammer Games' commitment to authenticity and a realistic depiction of war in Call of Duty: WWII. Actor Josh Duhamel said during the reveal livestream that "they spent so much time making this historically accurate, it's going to expose the whole WWII story to a whole new generation." For multiplayer action, however, Sledgehammer Games is taking a few liberties.

As befits a moment of this magnitude, there is also a trailer.

Cladun Returns: This Is Sengoku! is out on Steam right now
http://www.pcgamer.com/cladun-returns-this-is-sengoku-is-out-on-steam-right-now/
Nippon Ichi Software, purveyors of whimsical-yet-often-complex Japanese RPGs, has just launched Cladun Returns: This is Sengoku! on Steam. The action RPG has a pleasant retro 8-bit aesthetic, which isn't a particularly novel characteristic but, given that it comes via the publisher of the Disgaea series, I'm interested.

Project Rap Rabbit hangs in balance after Kickstarter falls short
http://www.pcgamer.com/project-rap-rabbit-hangs-in-balance-after-kickstarter-falls-short/
Those of you old to enough to remember mid-90s console gaming will probably recall the hype that enveloped NanaOn-Sha's Parappa the Rapper—a music rhythm game that laid the foundations for the likes of Guitar Hero and Rock Band further down the line.
Project Rap Rabbit was to be a similar "rhythm-action" music game that asked for £855,000. Yesterday, upon the campaign's closure, it'd raised just £162,057—less that 19 percent of its goal.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds teases new gun due in next update
http://www.pcgamer.com/playerunknowns-battlegrounds-teases-new-gun-due-in-next-update/
Last month's PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Monthly Update introduced a new sniper rifle, new stock attachments, and some pretty neat stunt-provoking motorbike physics. Looking to the following month's June update at the time, the game's creator Brendan Greene suggested he and his team would be "spending the next month focused on server performance" and as such we "should see a bigger improvement" when the next one rolls out.

It was originally due later in the year, but Necromancers are very good at coming back from the dead.

Hunt: Showdown showcases terrifying extended in-game footage
http://www.pcgamer.com/hunt-showdown-showcases-terrifying-extended-in-game-footage/
"Hunt: Showdown is like Van Helsing meets Cthulhu", is how our Steven describes Hunt: Showdown, PC Gamer's E3 2017 Game of Show, before then comparing it to DayZ, Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, and Stalker. Even if you missed the teaser trailer that seeped out of the Los Angeles Convention Centre show floor last week, that billing alone would suggest it's onto something good.

Reaching for Petals is a narrative exploration game that echoes Dear Esther and Firewatch
http://www.pcgamer.com/reaching-for-petals-is-a-narrative-exploration-game-that-echoes-dear-esther-and-firewatch/
Reaching for Petals is a narrative-led exploration game that aims to combine "philosophical narration, poetic writing and a powerful and engaging story." In doing so, it looks to echo some well received genre similars such as Dear Esther, What Remains of Edith Finch and Firewatch.

Anandtech full breakdown of the new LGA2066 chips have arrived.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/11550/the-intel-skylakex-review-core-i9-7900x-i7-7820x-and-i7-7800x-tested

Some takeaways: You can destroy chips if you switch between Skylake X and Kabylake X without fully turning the system off, resetting bios.

There are some performance issues as well, BIOS's seem to be extremely immature at the moment.

Basically, don't be an early adopter. Shit needs to be ironed out good and proper.
Chips are still to expensive. $860 for the 7820X is shit. Needs to be $600 before I bite.

Only board that appeals to me is the Asus TUF x299 Mark 1. But it only has a 5 year warranty for $550 AUD and Asus *had* to bling it up with LEDS.

Well. I guess the mystery is solved. My PC just turned itself off out of nowhere. Won't boot up and CPU warn LED is on.
This is gonna be fun.

I may have fucked up with the cooling paste. For some reason it's applied everywhere except the middle of the die. But I'm pretty sure I applied it correctly. Maybe it just happened when I removed the cooler. Anyway, gonna apply new paste and see if that helps.

Change of plans. I don't have any cooling paste. Gonna get some tomorrow then. Guess that'll be an anime only evening for me.

A little funny moment right now. I was ordering a replacement CPU via evening express. I saw the price for a new 6850k. 490€ I thought to myself: "Holy fucking shit, did they ramp up the price since I bought it last year, fucking expensive!" Turns out, I initially bought it for 610€^^
