It's quite obvious that Alex St. John is an asshole and, as his daughter and his "apology" update show, an hypocrite and terrible human being.

Gentlemen, here's an up close pic of the GP104:

Source: NVIDIA Pascal GP104 GPU pictured up close

http://videocardz.com/59266/nvidia-pascal-gp104-gpu-pictured-up-close

In the article, they compare it to Nvidia's previous chips, the GM204 and GM200, and calculate that it could measure 333mm2 aprox.

There's also another pic with the chip placed on a board surrounded by 8 Samsung 8Gbps 8Gb RAM modules, meaning that the card will have 8GB of VRAM.

Meanwhile, there are a couple of news regarding AMD.

Powerful Polaris “C99” Flagship GPU, Based On AMD’s GCN 4.0 Architecture, Passes RRA Certification

http://wccftech.com/amd-gcn-4-0-c99-flagship-polaris-rra-certification/#ixzz46YQWNmX1

This story need some explanation.

When both AMD and Nvidia are designing and testing new products, they use interal codenames to label them that are not Polaris, Pascal or anything like that. Now, while Nvidia changes them quite often, AMD uses a fairly constant method: a letter followed by five numbers. Because of that, it's easier to see what is AMD working on looking at Zauba's shipping manifests, as their listings feature that codename.

The other thing worth mentioning (and something I didn't know), is that everysilicon based electronic must have the stamp of approval of South Korea’s National Radio Research Agency, or RRA, in order to be allowed to be a consumer product, and that once a product passes that mark, it can't be modified.

Wiht that in mind, let's look at the codes that AMD has used these last years:

  • Hawaii XT had the C67101 code name.
  • Tonga was the C76501
  • Fiji XT was C88001 .

As you can see, AMD used the letter C to mark their graphic chips and the first letter marks different generations of GPUs. The second letter showed the hierarchy of those chips, the higher they were, the more powerful they would be, while the last three... I don't know what they mean (sorry).

Knowing that, it was easy to spot AMD's new products and that's what has happened, we saw mentions of C91103, C94402 , C98101 and C99398 Boards.

Now, we knowing that AMD has only two new GPUs planned for this year (AMD themselves have said that a couple of times), and they are Polaris 10 and 11. Putting these two infos together, we get that

  • C91103 Board _ Polaris 11
  • C94402 Board _ Polaris 11
  • C98101 Board _ Polaris 10
  • C99398 Board _ Polaris 10

Well, the smaller chip passed the RRA certification a couple months ago, and now we know that the big Polaris has gone through the RRA process too

We don't know when they'll launch, but given that the chips can't be modified, it won't be too long, right?

Finally, a couple of things

1-A new board with the name D00001 has been seen. Given that the C letter is filled up, it's not too far fetched to think that AMD has moved to the next letter. Now, is this the code of a new dual GPU card or is it AMD doing the first testing of Vega?

2-ATI. It's nice to see that name again .

AMD officially confirms Polaris 10 and Polaris 11 market positioning

http://videocardz.com/59248/amd-officially-confirms-polaris-10-and-polaris-11-market-positioning

In the latest press release, where AMD reports first quarter fiscal results, I noticed one paragraph that I think many of you will find interesting.

For the first time ever AMD has officially confirmed market positioning of upcoming Polaris chips. That said, Polaris 10 is officially aiming mainstream desktop segment and high-end notebook market, while Polaris 11 will also focus on notebooks.

AMD demonstrated its “Polaris” 10 and 11 next-generation GPUs, with Polaris 11 targeting the notebook market and “Polaris” 10 aimed at the mainstream desktop and high-end gaming notebook segment. “Polaris” architecture-based GPUs are expected to deliver a 2x performance per watt improvement over current generation products and are designed for intensive workloads including 4K video playback and virtual reality (VR).

Beyond that point, the article tries to guess what category is "mainstream", because AMD has used that term several times to talk about different GPUs and market positions, from the chips inside the R7 260X to the ones inside the R9 380X. Basically, nobidy nows.

Oh, and AMD has lost money again. But that's not a surprise anymore, right?

Please excuse my bad English.

I hope the strongest AMD Polaris card has a TDP of 250W so we get double the performance of a Fury X, or else I'm gonna wait until Vega.

^Yeah, that's not going to happen any time soon. Unfortunately.

Meanwhile, yesterday we had pics of GP104-200, or the GTX 1070 chip. Today it's time for its bigger brother

NVIDIA’s Full Fat Pascal GP104 GPU Pictured With GDDR5X Memory – Features 8 GB Micron Chips To Drive GeForce GTX 1080 Cards

http://wccftech.com/nvidia-pascal-gp104-gpu-gddr5x-leak/#ixzz46dcA5nJM

So the GTX 1080 will not only have a more powerful GPU, but also better RAM chips.

*Edit*

Videocardz has analyzed the pic, and they think this leak comes from MSI because the board design looks like the one MSI used on their 980 card.
