GeForce RTX 3060 returns to German retail from €333

https://videocardz.com/newz/geforce-rtx-3060-returns-to-german-retail-from-e333

At that price, it's just not worth it.

Nowadays a 3060 is a 1080p gaming card, and at that resultution the extra 4GB of VRAM aren't that necessary. Couple that with the fact that current low end cards, like even a 5050 are more powerful and cheaper, and the 3060 becomes pointless.

At 250-280€ it could make more sense, but its current price is ridiculous.

Jizz_Beard_thePirate said:

Why yes, dual 8gb sticks is better than a single 16gb stick regardless of what Valve claimed. But if the memory price does eventually go back down, you could add another 16gb stick and make it 32gb instead of needing to buy two 16gb sticks.

Is RAM memory still as picky as it was years ago when it comes to pairing kits that aren't exactly the same?

Yeah, really doesn't make sense - both 5050 and B580 are better performing for less money, and given that 5050 is pretty much aimed at Medium settings @1080p, it's 8GB bottleneck is mostly not that much of an issue.

SALES/PLAYER COUNTS & DEALS

Based on Meccha Chameleon's incredibly short 2-month dev cycle, its creators have already earned $1 million per day of work
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/sports/based-on-meccha-chameleons-incredibly-short-2-month-dev-cycle-its-creators-have-already-earned-usd1-million-per-day-of-work/
Sometimes I think I understand the scale of a viral indie sensation like Vampire Survivors or Peak taking Steam by storm, selling millions of copies in a matter of days or weeks. Then I look at the numbers from another angle and it hits me all over again: Jesus, that is a lot of money.
This latest mind boggle comes courtesy of Meccha Chameleon, which, as we reported over the weekend, has sold more than 10 million copies in the three weeks since its launch on June 9. That's a whole hell of a lot for a game developed by two Japanese indie creators, but becomes borderline incomprehensible when you learn how fast the game came together. According to an interview with Japanese publication GameWith, Meccha Chameleon was developed in just two months.
>> The article follows from there attempting to reach thar $1 milion per day figure.

Open source game engine Godot will no longer accept AI-authored code contributions: 'We can't trust heavy users of AI to understand their code enough to fix it'
https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/open-source-game-engine-godot-will-no-longer-accept-ai-authored-code-contributions-we-cant-trust-heavy-users-of-ai-to-understand-their-code-enough-to-fix-it/
Godot has been suffering from a slop problem. In February, the maintainers of the open source game engine, which powers games like Slay the Spire 2 and The Case of the Golden Idol, said they were deliberating how to address a rising tide of AI slop pull requests, which had become "increasingly draining and demoralizing" for the project's code reviewers.
Today, after months of discussion, the Godot Foundation and its maintainers are drawing a line in the sand. In a blog post, the Foundation announced that Godot's guidelines for contributors will soon be amended to forbid AI-authored code, pull requests submitted by AI agents, and AI-generated text in human-to-human communication.
"It is time for us to recognize that these problems aren’t going away and therefore we need to take steps to reduce the burden on maintainers while ensuring we still have a pipeline to mentor new contributors to become future maintainers," the Godot Foundation said.

MODS, EMULATORS & FAN PROJECTS

The Witcher 3 Online Version 4.0 Released & Detailed
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/the-witcher-3-online-version-4-0-released-detailed/
Modder ‘rejuvenate’ has released Version 4.0 for the amazing multiplayer online mod for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Witcher Online. So, let’s see what this new update brings to the table.
Version 4.0 has two new big features. These are the new Party System and Cutscene Synchronization. Players can now join a party with other players to synchronize time, weather, and cutscene dialog choices. They can also view players in their party on the HUD. Dialogue choices the party leader chooses are selected for all players in the party. This will help players complete quests more easily together.
Alongside these two new features, Version 4.0 adds proper localization to every string used in the mod for better translation support. It also adds dyed armor color sync.
Furthermore, the new update resolves a rare issue that could prevent the mod from working correctly when many other mods are installed. The update also fixes a bug that could send players outside the map if a cutscene started while they were riding another player. Finally, it fixes a render synchronization issue that could occur when a player was not holding a sword.

The second part of the gaming news:

Before his death in 2025, Half-Life 2 art director Viktor Antonov worked on one last game: A Wild West FPS soulslike that's 'coming soon' to Steam
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/before-his-death-in-2025-half-life-2-art-director-viktor-antonov-worked-on-one-last-game-a-wild-west-fps-roguelike-thats-coming-soon-to-steam/
Visionary artist Viktor Antonov defined a small but unforgettable selection of games with his unmistakably bold visual style, including Half-Life 2, Dishonored, Wolfenstein: The New Order, and Weird West. (He also did Redneck Rampage, but that was way back when.) He died in 2025 at just 52 years old, but before his tragic passing he put his stamp on one final game, revealed today as a fantasy Wild West soulslike shooter called Guns of Eschaton.
Set in a darkly twisted 19th century, Guns of Eschaton is "inspired" by historical figures, legends, and archetypes of the Old West, but is filled with bizarre enemies and powerful bosses who players will encounter on their journey from the West Coast to the East Coast of "a dying America."

Ahead of next week's expected Xbox bloodbath, IO Interactive loses funding for its online fantasy RPG
https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/ahead-of-next-weeks-expected-xbox-bloodbath-io-interactive-loses-funding-for-its-online-fantasy-rpg/
Just over a month after the successful launch of 007 First Light, the fastest selling game in its history, IO Interactive has run into some unexpected bad news about another project it's had in development for years. An "external partner" pulled funding from Project Fantasy, an "online fantasy RPG" that IO announced in 2023, and it sounds like layoffs at the studio are imminent as a result.

Steam is getting a jockey simulator next month that reimagines umamusume as normal horses
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/sports/steam-is-getting-a-jockey-simulator-next-month-that-reimagines-umamusume-as-normal-horses/
On June 24, 2025, Cygames released Umamusume: Pretty Derby on Steam, tasking players with scouting, training, and managing the racing careers of the titular umamusume—horse girls born for the singular pursuit of speed.
Next month—just over a year later—developer Blue Bullet is releasing its own fantastical take on the storied tradition of umamusume racing with Full Stride, a jockey racing simulator that reimagines the expected horse girls as normal horses. You know, the kind that in our world spend their time doing things like eating roughage and unsettling passersby with their inscrutable auras. How quaint!

Total War: Warhammer 3 is getting new endgames, individual victory conditions, a Vampire Counts rework, and Nurgle's three grossest champions
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/strategy/total-war-warhammer-3-is-getting-new-endgames-individual-victory-conditions-a-vampire-counts-rework-and-nurgles-three-grossest-champions/
Creative Assembly's recent What's Next livestream dropped a few bombshells about the upcoming 9.0 update and the Lords of the End Times DLC. It's good news for anyone who loves vampires and Chaos, and for anyone who has ever found themselves underwhelmed by the conclusion to an Immortal Empires campaign.

EA accidentally made the right decision twice in one month and reverted it both times, inflicting psychic damage on Battlefield 6 players
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/ea-accidentally-made-the-right-decision-twice-in-one-month-and-reverted-it-both-times-inflicting-psychic-damage-on-battlefield-6-players/
In an update early last month, Battlefield 6 accidentally made a change everyone loved. The in-game description of XP Boosters was changed to say that they would now count down only while you're actively playing a match, rather than in real time, as they have since launch. Wasting your precious boosts because you've had to log off is, unsurprisingly, annoying as hell.
Naturally, instead of formally making this highly requested change a reality, Battlefield Studios decided it didn't want the easy PR win, explaining: "We’re working to correct the in-game text in a future update and apologize for the confusion."
Unfortunately that wasn't the end of EA shooting itself in the foot and handing away the easy wins. Alongside the latest update on the final day of June, which overhauled gunplay, came a sequel to the slip-up.

Battlefield 6 is an FPS where 'the guy obsessed with metas is having the least fun', and it's free-to-play for a week
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/battlefield-6-is-an-fps-where-the-guy-obsessed-with-metas-is-having-the-least-fun-and-its-free-to-play-for-a-week/
It is time to do war crimes in a cool way. Battlefield 6, EA's big loud military-themed shooter that earned a coveted 82% from PC Gamer FPS czar Morgan Park, is free-to-try for a week. The trial period runs from yesterday, June 30, up until July 6.
The trial gives you access to five modes and four maps, which I will lay out in a conveniently bulletpointed form below.

Indeed, it's certainly not the best year to change most of the core components of a PC, tho you can still find some deals here and there that make some parts less hard to swallow (still not easy. tho).

At least you've picked one of the best times of the year to pick a game. I'm a bit sleep deprived and my already slow brain is slower than usual so, may I ask which game is "That librarian game"?
