My biggest problem is not with DX12 per se, but what MSoft is trying to do to the PC gaming ecosystem with the excuse of DX12.

Microsoft Store is the issue but I don't see why we should be throwing DX12 under the bus for Vulkan ...

Did people here forget that we got screwed over by the Khronos Group with OpenGLCL so what is stopping them from doing the same with Vulkan and SPIR-V ?

But it's not just Windows Store. If you read that PCPerspective article I posted, you'll see that this is a problem of Windows 10:

"What we are seeing is the first implications of a new pipeline for graphics and compositing. WDDM 2.0 (Windows Display Driver Model) is a very big shift from what existed previously with WDDM 1.3. The days of exclusive fullscreen gaming may be on the way out as Microsoft shifts developers and hardware vendors into a standard path through the OS compositor rather than bypassing it. Implications for this change are only beginning to be understood, but let’s see how it affects Ashes of the Singularity today."

Therefore, the problem is not DX12, but Microsoft's attitude towards how the games and every other program must run on its OS.

Please excuse my bad English.

But if MS fixes the V-sync and Fullscreen issues (Im pretty sure they did say they where wrking on fixing this) wouldnt it not be a problem then?.

Maybe its cos im already on Windows 10 so most of this stuff i dont really see as an issue as long as its fixed. Till then i wont be buying any games from the MS Store or any game that uses this system.

If you haven't, I recomend you to read the article I posted. Here's another excerpt that shows one of my worries:

"Microsoft is pushing DX12 games (and maybe not just those sold in the app store) to render through a standardized pipeline that uses the Windows compositing engine. In fact, from what I can tell, any game that is sold through the Windows App Store will be required to do so. Rendering through the Windows compositing engine is very similar to running in the borderless windowed mode that we have today (in that tearing is impossible but uncapped frame rates are also difficult to deal with).

Down the road, it appears that Microsoft thinks that running all games through the compositing engine will allow for unique features and additions to PC games, including multi-plane overlays."

This isn't about Windows Store, every game running on Windows 10 or that makes use of DX12 could be like that.

Well damn thats not good. Hopefully they will see that doing this could be a big mistake and change their minds O_O .

I really hope they change their mind.

THE DIVISION PRELOADS BEGIN TOMORROW

http://www.pcgamer.com/the-division-preloads-begin-tomorrow/

The Division is now six days away, which sounds fairly specific until you break it down into hours, at which point it becomes clear that you could be missing out on valuable play time on launch day if you're not careful. With that dire warning in mind, Ubisoft got more specific today with an announcement that preloading on Steam and Uplay will begin at 9 am PT/12 pm ET on March 3—which, by the way, is tomorrow. Game servers will be switched on at 00:01 Australian Eastern Daylight Time, which is 8:01 am ET on March 7, but the game won't actually become active in North America until 12:01 am ET on March 8.

ENTER THE GUNGEON BRINGS A SURPLUS OF GUNS IN APRIL

http://www.pcgamer.com/enter-the-gungeon-brings-a-surplus-of-guns-in-april/

Enter the Gungeon is a cool looking rogue-like with lots of guns. Last time we checked in with studio Dodge Roll there were 175 guns in total, with more coming after launch. It's hard to argue that there isn't already enough guns in Enter the Gungeon, but hey: we'll know for sure soon, because the official release date has been confirmed for April 5.

SPINTIRES REMOVED FROM STEAM AMID ALLEGATIONS OF DEVELOPER SABOTAGE

http://www.pcgamer.com/spintires-removed-from-steam-amid-allegations-of-developer-sabotage/

Remember Spintires? It's the extraordinarily Russian off-road driving sim that earned attention for both its unique subject material (and accurate rendition thereof) and the ugly conflict between creator Pavel Zagrebelnyj and UK-based publisher Oovee. Those problems appeared to be ironed out early last year, but last week Zagrebelnyj told Eurogamer that the publisher owes him “a shitload of money,” but that there hasn't been any real communication between the parties for the better part of a year.

>>What the he.. happened here?

ACTIVISION JOINS EA IN SKIPPING A MAJOR E3 PRESENCE THIS YEAR

http://www.pcgamer.com/activision-joins-ea-in-skipping-a-major-e3-presence-this-year/

In an interesting move, Activision has joined Electronic Arts in the ranks of major publishers skipping a presence at E3 this year. While Activision will showcase Infinity Ward's 2016 Call of Duty instalment at Sony's PlayStation booth, the company won't have its own area on the floor.

>>Fucks given? None.

FAR CRY PRIMAL'S MAP MAY 'BORROW' FROM FAR CRY 4

http://www.pcgamer.com/far-cry-primals-map-may-borrow-from-far-cry-4/

Who didn't think that Far Cry Primal emerged remarkably soon after Far Cry 4? There were two years separating Far Cries 3 and 4 versus one between 4 and Primal, but Ubisoft assured us that Primal is a full-scale Far Cry game and not an expandalone like Blood Dragon. However, a discovery by Game Pressure suggests that Ubisoft had a head-start at the level design stage. The maps for Far Cry 4's Kyrat and Primal's Oros are extraordinarily similar.

STRAFE COMING EARLY 2017, IN-GAME FOOTAGE APPEARS

http://www.pcgamer.com/strafe-coming-early-2017-in-game-footage-appears/

Strafe (sorry, STRAFE®) is that game with excellent trailers straight out of 1996: a sci-fi, procedurally generated gorefest that aims to re-associate mindless gunplay with words like 'radical' and 'sick'. Today, Pixel Titans has taken a break from parody to show off more in-game headsploding in celebration of its publishing deal with Devolver Digital, the publisher of Hotline Miami. No, I can't think of a better fit either.

PARAGON EARLY ACCESS BEGINS MARCH 18

http://www.pcgamer.com/paragon-early-access-begins-march-18/

Paragon has the PC Gamer team divided: PCG Pro editor and Dota obsessive Chris found that it was just traditional enough to make him feel like he had an edge, and who doesn't enjoy winning? James, on the other hand, was hoping it would lean more towards the shooter side and became frustrated by its stereotypical MOBA elements. From March 18, you can decide for yourself as Paragon enters Early Access on Steam.

NO MAN'S SKY PRICE AND RELEASE DATE CONFIRMED

http://www.pcgamer.com/no-mans-sky-price-and-release-date/

Well, the alien cat is out of the procedurally-generated bag, thanks to a slip-up on Tuesday that briefly saw No Man's Sky listed on the US Playstation Blog for $60. That price has now officially been confirmed by Hello Games. At a press event for No Man's Sky in Los Angeles earlier this week I was also told that the March 3 release date apparently leaked in the same post is, as expected, not actually a surprise early launch.

EURO TRUCK SIMULATOR 2 UPDATE LETS YOU CUSTOMISE YOUR NUTS

http://www.pcgamer.com/euro-truck-simulator-2-update-lets-you-customise-your-nuts/

'Ultimate wheel customisation'. That's what SCS is promising Euro- and American Truck Simulator players will accompany Steam Workshop support in the next patch.

>>I'm all for customization, but that's starting to get out of hand.

Microsoft Comments on UWP Games and Full Screen Capability

http://www.pcper.com/news/Graphics-Cards/Microsoft-Comments-UWP-Games-and-Full-Screen-Capability

One particular fear for some gamers is that Microsoft would attempt to move to the WDDM compositing model not just for games sold in the Windows Store, but for all games that run on the OS. I asked Microsoft directly:

To answer your question, can we assume that those full screen features that work today with DX12 will work in the future as well – yes.

DX 12:

Not really sure about that Dead Island collection, the stuff they are claiming like higher textures doesn't sound like they will be that much higher, I mean I've seen a few collections so far that only slightly bumped up texture quality, I also already own both and the DLC already as well so I can't say I'd buy it all at full price again just for a few details.

Happy about the Disgaea patch, hopefully it's fully sorted by now for me to purchase it, sad that ToS still hasn't been patched yet and DIsgaea came out later on and still got patched quicker than that game.

£40 for NMS?, I think that's me waiting for a sale.

Well it seems the third party DRM that was with ToS is gone now according to some people - so hopefully it gets fixed completely of all issues for ToS.

Really hope that becomes the case, though at this point I'm weary of the devs for the future.
