AMD's rumoured to be plotting a new ultra high-end gaming GPU, plus a $550 graphics card with RTX 5080 performance, but sadly we probably won't see either until 2027

AMD is getting back into the enthusiast class GPU game. So says YouTube outlet Moore's Law is Dead. Perhaps even more excitingly, it reckons AMD is cooking up another new GPU with Nvidia RTX 5080 performance that will sell for just $550.

Obviously, the usual caveats apply. That channel hardly has an immaculate track record. But this "leak" looks particularly plausible, including a purported internal slide from AMD itself. So, let's get into the details.

>> Given that the 9070XT sits between the 5070 and 5070Ti, the successor should be able to deliver close to 5080 performance, right? The higher end GPU part seems nuts, but we'll see.

As per Hardware Unboxed retest, the 9070XT actually beats the 5070Ti now on aggregate, even with RT. Only in Pathtracing NVidia still has a clear advantage now. But I digress.

This sounds very much like the next gen GPU, so RDNA5/UDNA. A 10070(XT) should definitely be able to match or beat the 5080 considering that the gap between the 5070Ti and 5080 is actually not that large. I do have my doubts however at the price, especially if TSMC continues to crank up the prices for wafers. I expect more something along the $600-$700 price range, which should still be enough to undercut NVidia by $100 or more for a similar performance.

The price is the hardest part to believe, yeah. It may have the same number of CUs on a smaller node but, given that it will surely have more transistors, the chip won't be small enough to offset the higher cost of that smaller node. And we know that AMD wanted to charge $100-150 more for the 9070 cards, with the final MSRP being a surprise to everybody, even AIB partners.

But well, maybe AMD is pleased with the sales figures and, with the CPU division making good money, they're ok with making less money from consumer GPUs to gain more marketshare.

In any case, it's too early to know for sure.

AFAIK TSMC has increased the price of the N5/N4 nodes in the past few years, they're not that much cheaper than N3 ($16,000 vs. $20,000).

So in theory a ~300 mm² die in N3 would cost about the same as a ~350 mm² N4 one ( = 9070 XT) while having 10% more transistors and 10% higher clock rates at roughly the same power envelope. That should be enough for 5080 performance.

Again... in theory.

Ram is the other big cost, AMD can "get away" with a larger chip if it's using cheaper memory than nVidia and still achieving good results, we saw it this generation with AMD sticking with GDDR6 verses nVidia and the more expensive GDDR7.

TSMC having a monopoly on leading edge chip manufacturing is going to keep screwing entire industries over. We need Intel and Samsung to open up and compete to keep costs in check.

Steam has a razzle-dazzle new video player that's actually usable, but press F for the unlucky Valve employees who had to re-encode all 400,000+ trailers on the platform
https://www.pcgamer.com/software/platforms/steam-has-a-razzle-dazzle-new-video-player-thats-actually-usable-but-press-f-for-the-unlucky-valve-employees-who-had-to-re-encode-all-400-000-trailers-on-the-platform/
If you're anything like me, Steam's trailer function has been—for its entire lifespan—pretty much useless. Maybe I'm just cursed, but in my experience the player is laggy, impossible to scrub through, and prone to random hitches and quality issues. It means the trailer is just something of which I see about 0.5 seconds before I click off of it and onto a game's screenshots.
But no more. As of yesterday, Steam's trailer player has gotten a new lick of paint and seems actually useful now. In a post on the Steam news blog, Valve announced that someone had wheeled their desk over to the right section of the office long enough to overhaul the whole thing. They even re-encoded literally every trailer on Steam to do it—over 400,000 files.
The player now has a new interface, an adaptable UI that should work on whichever screen you do your trailer-viewing on (Valve says excitedly, "It even works well on iPhones now"), and "fewer pauses and hitches when jumping forward or backward in a video," which was my key bugbear with ye olde player. "You will also see seamless transitions when pressing that full-screen button," says Valve.

MODS, EMULATORS & FAN PROJECTS

Castlemania II is a Castlevania-themed Super Mario game that you can play on PC
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/castlemania-ii-is-a-castlevania-themed-super-mario-game-that-you-can-play-on-pc
Super Mario fans, here’s something cool for you. modder ‘xMANGRAVYx’ has made an awesome romhack for Super Mario World. It mixes Super Mario Bros. with Castlevania. It’s a fun and exciting Mario game that you can play on your PC. Well, you’ll need a SNES emulator to do this but still.
Castlemania II has new power-ups, cutscenes, and custom bosses that were never in Super Mario World before. The goal of this sequel was to improve on the original game and add cool new features. Each level is split into parts and ends with a boss fight, just like in the classic Castlevania games that inspired it. Some bosses can’t be hurt by power-ups, so the battles stay fun and challenging.
As you’ll see in the video at the end of the article, Castlemania II is much harder than regular Super Mario games. So, get ready to lose a lot of lives. It’s not impossible, but it’s definitely more challenging than the original games. So, consider this your warning. This will put your skills and reflexes to the test.
You can go ahead and download Castlemania II from this link. Since this is a romhack, it requires the original Super Mario World. Once you have downloaded it, you’ll have to apply the romhack to the ROM file. You can do this with a tool like Flips or Beat. Alternatively, you can use an emulator that allows you to apply the romhack on the fly.

Half-Life 2 Fan Remaster will soon get a free playable demo
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/half-life-2-fan-remaster-will-soon-get-a-free-playable-demo
Modder ‘GameROOSH’ is currently working on a remaster of Half-Life 2 on the Source 2013 Engine. This fan remaster will have improved graphics and physics, and we’ll soon get a demo for it.
The remaster is called Half-Life 2: Remake and promises some cool upgrades. It will have realistic bullet physics and breakable objects, like in the Battlefield games. Shadows will change in real-time as you play, thanks to Cascade Shadow Maps. You can also look forward to moving sky effects that make the game feel even more alive.
The demo for Half-Life 2: Remake will most likely focus on the Lost Coast Demo. This was the demo that Valve also released to showcase the capabilities of the Source Engine for Half-Life 2. So, to avoid ruining the first hours of the game, the modder will most likely remaster that demo.
There is currently no ETA on when this demo will come out. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
>> The article has some screenshots of the mod, that is still in alpha.

This incredible Oblivion Remastered Mod lets you destroy buildings
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/this-incredible-oblivion-remastered-mod-lets-you-destroy-buildings
Oblivion Remastered fans, here is a must-have mod for you. Created by ‘MadAborModding’, this mod lets you destroy almost all of the game’s buildings with your spells.
To showcase these destruction effects, the modder shared the following two GIFs. And, as you will see, it looks absolutely fantastic. This is a mod that will greatly enhance your gaming experience. So, make sure to get it.
Right now, the effects are not permanent. This means that everything will reset to normal as soon as you enter a load screen. This may break overall immersion. And despite that, it still is a really cool mod. At least in my opinion.
In future versions, the modder plans to expand this to make buildings have their own health stat, with a visible health bar that appears on hit. Additionally, you will be able to damage structures with both physical attacks and spells. The damage dealt will scale with your respective skill levels. Optionally, he plans to limit the ability to destroy structures to only certain locations.

Thursday gaming news, part two:

If you catch the ball in Rematch, there's a small chance you didn't—Sloclap's desync issues are upsetting players in a game I otherwise can't stop playing
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/sports/if-you-catch-the-ball-in-rematch-theres-a-small-chance-you-didnt-sloclaps-desync-issues-are-upsetting-players-in-a-game-i-otherwise-cant-stop-playing/
Rematch is great—I've already sunk about 40 hours into the thing and have no intention of stopping anytime soon. Just one small problem, though: the desync issues are still rough. In any given match, there's a chance you'll make a dive towards a ball—only for the fabric of time to hiccup, subjecting you to an avalanche of vicious 'good jobs!' and a wash of unearned shame.
Sloclap's already made efforts to help in a recent patch, but they haven't quite taken root. I've had plenty of encounters with the wobbly netcode myself, and while I'd usually show you what I mean, I don't have to—just a quick jaunt over to r/Rematch sees clips up the wazoo of goalies making tekkers saves, only to have their victories cruelly ripped away from them.
(...)
In the latest patch notes, Sloclap has pled patience and promised there are improvements on the way: "Please remember that some major priorities like netcode or crossplay are the work of specialists in their domains (gameplay replication, server infrastructure, user interface...), and that we can't put all our resources on these topics to make them happen faster—that being said we are making very good progress on these topics, more news soon!"

Battlefield 6 probably isn't going to cost $80: 'We're not looking to make any changes on pricing at this stage,' EA CEO says
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/battlefield-6-probably-isnt-going-to-cost-usd80-were-not-looking-to-make-any-changes-on-pricing-at-this-stage-ceo-says/
How much should games cost? We asked that question back in 2017, when the standard big-budget release came in at $60, and even made the case for prices being lowered to $50, or even $40. Some studios got the memo: Helldivers 2 launched at $40, for instance, and Dune 2 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 arrived at $50. But in spite of our very convincing math and graphs, prices on major big-budget games have instead gone up over the years.
(...)
You can now add Electronic Arts to the list of game companies that have seemingly recognized they've pushed as far as they dare—at least for now. "We're not looking to make any changes on pricing at this stage," EA CEO Andrew Wilson said during a recent investors calls when asked about a possible shift from the $70 to $80 price point, particularly for Battlefield 6.

Dune: Awakening is testing out a fix for ornithopter griefing and making an unforgivable change to flour sand farming
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/mmo/dune-awakening-is-testing-out-a-fix-for-ornithopter-griefing-and-making-an-unforgivable-change-to-flour-sand-farming/
A new patch is headed for Dune: Awakening in August, but Funcom is testing it out right on the public test client. There's a lotta stuff crammed into version 1.1.20, including an attempt to fix the ever-present problem of ornithopter griefing, a quality of life fix all you bloodsuckers will enjoy, and one particularly scandalous change that will absolutely piss everyone off. Let's dive in!

Space Marine 2 publisher says even he 'didn't believe that we could hit 7 million unique players,' but it's proof that players are hungry for sicko games: 'When the execution is right, it ends up resonating with many more people'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/space-marine-2-publisher-says-even-he-didnt-believe-that-we-could-hit-7-million-unique-players-but-its-proof-that-players-are-hungry-for-sicko-games-when-the-execution-is-right-it-ends-up-resonating-with-many-more-people/
Pullup Entertainment is having a good year. Its portfolio includes Farming Simulator and Space Marine 2 publisher Focus Interactive, indie and retro publisher Dotemu, and in-house studios like Deck 13, Dovetail Games—all of which are humming along well enough that Pullup's quarterly revenue has increased by more than 130% over the previous year.
In an interview with The Game Business, Pullup CEO Geoffroy Sardin said even the firm was surprised by Space Marine 2's sales.

Krafton says the Subnautica 2 delay proves its milestone process is being 'rigorously managed' because it didn't just shove the game out the door even though lots of people would've bought it
https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/krafton-says-the-subnautica-2-delay-proves-its-milestone-process-is-being-rigorously-managed-because-it-didnt-just-shove-the-game-out-the-door-even-though-lots-of-people-wouldve-bought-it/
July was an ugly month for Subnautica 2 and developer Unknown Worlds. In the course of fewer than 30 days, the studio's leadership was gutted, the anticipated early access release was delayed, harsh words were exchanged, and a lawsuit was filed. The dispute turns largely on whether or not Subnautica 2 is ready for early access release: The ousted leaders of Unknown Worlds insist it is, but Krafton says it needs more content and polish before it's ready to see the light of day.
It's obviously not an ideal situation, but during the company's Q2 FY2025 earnings call, Krafton said its willingness to delay the game amidst all the furor is actually a good sign because it proves the company's commitment to getting it right.

Cat breeding roguelike Mewgenics includes human conditions like autism and dyslexia, but they aren't just debuffs: 'You've been given this hand, make it work'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/roguelike/cat-breeding-roguelike-mewgenics-includes-human-conditions-like-autism-and-dyslexia-but-they-arent-just-debuffs-youve-been-given-this-hand-make-it-work/
It won't surprise anyone who's followed his career that the next game from Super Meat Boy and The Binding of Isaac creator Edmund McMillen contains some likely-to-be-controversial elements. Its title is Mewgenics, a play on "eugenics," so there's one right off the bat.
The idea for Mewgenics, which is about breeding successive generations of cats and sending them on adventures with turn-based battles, came first from the observation that it's kind of messed up that we selectively breed animals until we think they're cute or useful.
But Mewgenics also gets into the much thornier topic of human genetics and actual, non-mew eugenics by including human conditions like autism and dyslexia as things your cats can inherit. I recently spoke to McMillen and collaborator Tyler Glaiel about the game, and asked them what they intended by confronting players with the uncomfortable option to not allow a cat with autism or another hereditary condition to mate.

You've heard of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, so here's Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch 2, a Helldivers 2 city based on the village, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

Helldivers 2 is full of good gags—some accidental, such as 82,000+ players democratically voting to name a city "Gun" and, well, all sorts of overtly political lore. Arrowhead's tongue is firmly lodged within its cheek, which doesn't seem particularly safe.
As part of its newly added city maps, Arrowhead's been committing all sorts of mischief with what these super-cities are actually called. There's Gun, of course, but there's also Shed, Free Trade, Filibuster, Democracy Always, Birth, Administrative Center O2 (Sector 4), New Newtonville and Ol' Oldham.
Players, however, have recently started noticing the shining beacon of democracy that is Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch… 2! The second Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, based on the real-world village, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. SALES/PLAYER COUNTS & DEALS

Capcom's stock price plummets as its latest financial report shows cratering Monster Hunter Wilds sales
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/capcoms-stock-price-plummets-as-its-latest-financial-report-shows-cratering-monster-hunter-wilds-sales/
On Monday, Capcom published its first quarterly report for its 2025 financial year. While the company showed growing revenues and profits, the report painted a dire picture of the state of Monster Hunter Wilds. During the quarter that ended June 30, Wilds sales had fallen by more than 95% from its launch quarter, leaving the landmark release Capcom's 9th best-selling title for the quarter behind older games like Devil May Cry 5, Resident Evil Village, and the Resident Evil 4 remake (via GamesRadar).
Wilds is, to put it lightly, in a rough state. Since launch, player sentiment has soured to the point of widespread rancidity, leaving the game's recent Steam review rating at a persistent Overwhelmingly Negative. Chief among those complaints is its dismal performance, which attempted fixes in multiple post-launch patches have failed to properly address.
Players have also criticized its thin endgame experience and lagging weapon balance. While returning monsters in continuing title updates have been met with some enthusiasm, even Monster Hunter diehards have been left with a distinct suspicion that Wilds was pushed out too soon to secure end-of-financial-year sales for Capcom's pursuit of consecutive record profits.
While Wilds broke Capcom's launch records, its ailing reputation has clearly had an impact on continuing sales. After making more than 10 million sales in its launch quarter, Wilds only sold 477 thousand copies between the start of April and the end of June.
Capcom spent the last week breaking escalating levels of emergency glass to win back player approval with bikini-clad blacksmiths and accelerated update schedules, but those efforts didn't prevent immediate fallout in the wake of the company's quarterly report. Spotted by Eurogamer, Capcom's stock price began an immediate plunge of almost 10% once Japanese markets opened today.
Things aren't looking entirely grim for Capcom, however. Investors might be reeling from those abysmal sales figures, but its share value has still risen 27% over the last 12 months, and its operating profits for the quarter are up 91% year-on-year.

The Humble Store has three new sales:

https://www.pcgamer.com/games/gog-wracked-by-massive-electoral-fraud-as-digimon-world-fans-flood-dreamlist-voting-with-fake-ballots/
The essential core of the democratic process is voting. A free, fair vote is not just essential, it is sacrosanct: Without it, everything else collapses like a house of cards. And that's why it's so disheartening to know that there are those among us who would prey upon our delicate democracy and twist it to serve their own selfish purposes. That's right, I'm talking about Digimon fans.
Luckily, just as there are those eager to corrupt our democratic freedom, there are others who stand firmly in its defense—like, for instance, digital videogame storefront GOG.
"We’d like to share an important update regarding the recent surge in votes for Digimon World on the GOG Dreamlist," GOG wrote on X. "Between July 1st and July 21st, the game received over 52,000 votes. After reviewing the surge, we found that approximately 26,000 votes during that period were cast by fake accounts.
"To preserve the integrity of the GOG Dreamlist and to keep this support fair and relevant, we’ve removed those votes. The Dreamlist goal is to show and convince the whole world that these games deserve to live forever. Ensuring the data behind it is accurate and meaningful is essential to that mission."
>> In my opinion, they should remove the game from the list for this and at least the next couple polls, to teach those d*cks a lesson.

Free adult NSFW content returns to itch.io, as one of the platform's major payment processors expresses hope to 'support adult content in the future'
https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/game-development/free-adult-nsfw-content-returns-to-itch-io-as-one-of-the-platforms-major-payment-processors-expresses-hope-to-support-adult-content-in-the-future/
In a note to developers, Itch.io founder Leaf Corcoran has confirmed that free adult content will be re-indexed on the platform, alongside a new content warning system. It follows the wholesale de-indexing of adult content on the indie game marketplace due to pressure applied by an anti-pornography lobby group on major credit card processors.
Since Itch.io is much smaller than Steam, and is a user-generated content platform where material can be published "with minimal barriers", Itch.io was forced to take a sledgehammer approach to content removal after it came under the scrutiny of its payment processors. Reindexing free material—which doesn't require payment processing—is the first step towards addressing a problem that was impossible for the platform to immediately fix with any nuance.
Announcing the re-indexing, Corcoran adds that "we are still in ongoing discussions with payment processors and will be re-introducing paid content slowly to ensure we can confidently support the widest range of creators in the long term." As Harvey Randall reported earlier this week, Itch.io is currently reaching out to alternative payment processors more willing to work with adult material.

New Steam update adds new 'customise' tab your games—letting you finally organise things by release date, or just look at Big Naturals Withers every time you open Baldur's Gate 3
https://www.pcgamer.com/software/platforms/new-steam-update-adds-new-customise-tab-your-games-letting-you-finally-organise-things-by-release-date-or-just-look-at-big-naturals-withers-every-time-you-open-baldurs-gate-3/
I'll be honest with you, I've never been the kind of person to get organised—that's partially because I have a pesky disorder that gets in the way of such things, but it's also just a personality flaw. I don't do home decoration, and all my important paperwork sits in a loose jumble in a draw somewhere. I am, however, sorely tempted by a new Steam update.
Per this client beta announcement, Steam users (as long as they're signed into the beta by going to settings > interface > client beta participation) can now customise each and every single one of the games in their library.
"The Customization tab allows users to view and set custom artwork for the game," reads the blog post, "And set a custom sort title that will be used instead of the actual title when sorting games in the library."
As you can see in the example screenshot I took below, you can now upload your own custom cover, background, logo, and wide cover to each game in your library. Obsessed with your Warrior of Light in Final Fantasy 14? Go ahead and put that art commission you got of 'em up there. A fan of Big Naturals Withers? You can now look at him every time you crack open Baldur's Gate 3.

MODS, EMULATORS & FAN PROJECTS

Unreal (1998) Just Got an RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod Demo
https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/unreal-1998-just-got-an-rtx-remix-path-tracing-mod-demo
Unreal fans, here is something for you. Modder’mstewart401′ has released a demo of the RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod for Unreal 1998. This demo is almost 10GB in size and covers the first 14 levels. As such, it’s a must for pretty much all those who want to replay this classic FPS.
This mod will make the classic FPS look way better. It adds full ray-traced lighting, realistic shadows, cool glowing light effects, and fog-like lighting. It also uses special materials that make surfaces react to light more realistically – like shiny metal, rough stone, or soft skin. Some parts of the game world have been upgraded too, so everything looks more detailed and modern.
In the mod, most of the new textures were made using RTX Remix’s AI tools. The modder also used NVIDIA’s assets to replace trees and plants and to add grass in outdoor areas. To do this, mstewart248 used a tool called UnrealED to place fake objects that they later turned into grass. They also used UnrealED to add new lights in places where the original game had glowing things like blue crystals or torches without real light sources.
Now, since this is a demo, it does not reflect the quality of the final version. Still, this looks better than the previous RTX Remix Mod we shared back in February 2024.

Dark Souls: The Fading Flame Is a Gameplay Overhaul Mod That Adds New Bosses and Restores Cut Content
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/dark-souls-the-fading-flame-is-a-gameplay-overhaul-mod-that-adds-new-bosses-and-restores-cut-content
Modder ‘arfa’ has released a new cool mod for Dark Souls Remastered. Dark Souls: The Fading Flame is a mod that will new bosses to the game, will overhaul its gameplay, and it will restore some cut content. So, let’s take a closer look at it.
The Fading Flame adds four entirely new bosses with new models and animations. It also remakes two from scratch with new models and animations. Plus, it reworks one boss with new attacks.
The mod will add seven new enemies with new models and animations. It will also improve some hitboxes in a few bosses. Players will find twenty new weapons (sixteen of them come with new animations). You will also get 7 new armor sets and 2 new helmets, 3 new spells, and 5 new miracles.
As mentioned, this mod also makes some changes to the gameplay. For example, hand-to-hand weapons now have new moves and animations. Backsteps now include invincibility frames, and you can kick enemies while jumping. Kicking a shield can now let you do a special counterattack on some enemies. The mod also changes covenants so they work offline and removes all online-only items. Whips have also been improved. Plus, you now only need a few types of upgrade materials like Dragon Scales, Twinkling Titanite, Regular Titanite, or Demon Titanite to upgrade your weapons.
>> There is a very short video of the mod.

Battlefield 6 has a proper forge mode with scripting, level editing, and a 'front and center' server browser
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/battlefield-6-has-a-proper-forge-mode-with-scripting-level-editing-and-a-front-and-center-server-browser/
Live on stage from a Los Angeles warehouse on Wednesday, EA kicked off its Battlefield 6 multiplayer presentation with a crowd pleaser: Portal is back, and it's way more powerful.
The custom games toolset that debuted in Battlefield 2042 has undergone some serious upgrades that sure make it seem like a proper, Halo Forge-style mode.

EA dances around battle royale in Battlefield 6 reveal, teases return of BF5's Firestorm mode
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/we-dont-have-an-answer-for-you-today-ea-dances-around-battle-royale-in-battlefield-6-reveal-decides-itll-cross-that-bridge-when-it-gets-there/
The worst-kept secret in gaming right now is that Battlefield 6 will have a free-to-play battle royale mode. The rumors have said it, Ars Technica's reporting has said it, and leaks have all but shown it in action.
EA's veil of secrecy is so impractical at this point that, during a Battlefield 6 multiplayer reveal event in Los Angeles, developers danced around the subject of battle royale with all the subtlety of a wink and nudge.
(...)
During the reveal livestream today, EA showed a short teaser with a wall of fire, signaling it's bringing back the Firestorm format from Battlefield 5. Whatever it is, it'll be tested in the BF Labs playtest program first.
>> And it will have both open and closed weapons at launch.

Among Us 3D is adding a new limited-time feature I haven't thought about in 20 years: VIP mode
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/among-us-3d-is-adding-a-new-limited-time-feature-i-havent-thought-about-in-20-years-vip-mode/
I still remember the very first time I tried Team Fortress Classic's VIP mode, which was also called The Hunted. I spawned into my first match and saw that instead of a gun I was holding an umbrella. I was the VIP! Hell, yes! But also: Oh, no!
(...)
Now VIP mode is coming to, of all places, Among US 3D. It's called "Critical Cargo," and in this mode one crewmate is randomly chosen to be the VIP (they call it "Critical Crewmate," but c'mon, it's the VIP). Intruders try to kill the VIP while the crew tries to protect them. Sounds like a nice change from the standard intruder mode.

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag actor says Ubisoft threatened to sue him for blabbing about the remake that everyone and their grandma knows is coming
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/assassins-creed/assassins-creed-4-black-flag-actor-says-ubisoft-threatened-to-sue-him-for-blabbing-about-the-remake-that-everyone-and-their-grandma-knows-is-coming/
If I were writing the big book of maintaining morale, my number one rule for keeping the talent happy would be: don't threaten to take them to court. But those mavericks at Ubisoft have always done things their own way. According to Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag voice actor Matt Ryan (who played protagonist Edward Kenway), Ubi was a tad miffed when he got loose-lipped about the unannounced Black Flag remake we all know is coming. So miffed that the company threatened to sue him.

And now, the GOG and Steam deals for the weekend:

+GOG

+Steam

And that’s it. Until the next time, I wish you a happy and gaming weekend.

Intel XeSS2 now supported by AMD and NVIDIA GPUs

Intel's XeSS technology, previously associated only with super resolution, has been updated for the Arc Battlemage launch to include Frame Generation and Low Latency components, aligning with what AMD and NVIDIA currently offer.

Today, Intel released an update for XeSS 2 and published Software Development Kit (SDK) version 2.1.0, with the primary change being support for non-Intel GPUs. Essentially this update enables AMD and NVIDIA cards to use Intel XeSS2, and what's important, these GPUs can use entire portfolio of XeSS technologies.

EA Exec Shoots Down Battlefield 6 on Steam Deck—Other Handhelds Allowed
https://www.techpowerup.com/339485/ea-exec-shoots-down-battlefield-6-on-steam-deck-other-handhelds-allowed
Following the recent Battlefield 6 multiplayer showcase that confirmed the existence of a UGC platform for the new shooter, EA's executive vice president, Vince Zampella, confirmed in an interview with PCGamesN that Battlefield 6 will not receive Steam Deck support. According to the executive, "It does not work on Steam Deck. I think there are some non-Steam-Deck handheld platforms that it will work on, probably, right? But I don't think, you know, it's probably not the best way to play the game."

Lunux = Nope from EA because of Anti-Cheat Kernel stuff that does work on Linux, but they're not bothered to make the effort.
