Aka - We don't have that much confidence in our product(s), so we wait for Nvidia to show theirs first.

Man they have their cards ready lol, wtf. Grow a pair RTG/AMD.

Intel: We are so confident we are gonna launch our product a month ahead of our competitors

Radeon: We got no balls so Nvidia, please reveal your gpu lineup so we can discount it by 5%

Like what even man. This isn't even a duopoly, it's just Nvidia controlling the market and Radeon sucking them off for breadcrumbs

Its honestly so retarded. They want to capture marketshare and the midrange but don't even show their product in one of the biggest tech events of the year. I have no idea how AMD screws up their marketing, every, single time. Its almost like free marketing for Nvidia at this point.

They're just lucky their CPU department is doing well and Intel is dropping the ball badly.

HWU already out with a video lol

Intel won’t kill off its graphics card business

Good to see they are re-enforcing their commitment

HDMI 2.2 to offer up to 96 Gbps bandwidth

VESA introduces DisplayPort 2.1b and DP80LL (Low-Loss) specifications in collaboration with NVIDIA

Low Loss sounds like... There's low loss? We will see what happens when it comes out but if that's the way to increase the cable width and there is noticeable loss in quality... I'd go with HDMI 2.2 solution. But we will see.

ASUS Unveils Radeon RX 9070 XT & RX 9070 TUF Gaming & PRIME 16 GB GPUs, Featuring Up To Triple 8-Pin Connectors

That's a lot of power but Asus probably doing it to flex. I doubt it will need triple 8 pins.

Maybe Valve is waiting till Switch 2 gets revealed?

I usually hear that language use when talking about Coax Cables but assuming they using it in the same context it use with Coax Cables it just mean the signal weaken at a lower rate.  100% of cables lose signal strength the longer it go which why there a max distance on all cables before the signal not strong enough anymore to reliable give the information.  Low-Loss in this context just mean it can go farer before it no longer reliable.

It won't affect quality if you keep to the rated distance but that true with all cables including HDMI cables.

Most of it is marketing fluff but the one thing they clarified was FSR 4 won't be exclusive to just 9070 model but rather it will work with other RDNA4 models as well. They might try and back-port it into RDNA 3/2 but it's highly dependent on the ML capabilities of those GPUs as the ML uplift of RDNA 4 is significant so it won't happen during launch if at all.

They also said they are focusing on value and stuff but that's marketing.

Can't get an optical drive slot hard drive caddy to work for my bro's laptop. He's got an account with HP but every time we try to post it's saying he doesn't have the privileges to access the community for some reason. Hoping this community can maybe help to whatever degree.

The laptop is an HP 17-ca1001ca (2020 low end model) with up to date Win 10 and up to date BIOS. It has 2 internal stock storage slots. An M.2 for either SATA or PCIe, as well as a 2.5" SATA. He's got an M.2 PCIe NVMe with his OS on it and a 2.5" HDD just for storage. The optical drive slot definitely works, as it did before and still does. The BIOS and Windows (disk management) see it fine and it works, but when the caddy is installed it doesn't see anything anywhere.
The new SSD definitely works, as I've checked with a USB adapter, and I've also tried an HDD I've got lying around and it's good but doesn't work in the caddy either. I've tried them both in the caddy uninitialized, initialized, and formatted, an nothing works. I also don't think it's a power problem because while the SSD specs say it uses up to 7.5w, the HDD only uses up to 3.5w so at the very least the HDD should work if the SSD needed too much power for that ODD SATA slot.
I've messed with the BIOS a bit but it's very basic and doesn't show much and doesn't allow for many changes. I tried what I could with it but no luck there either.

Now the caddy was supposed to have a selector switch, as the product pics show, but the caddy he received doesn't have any switches. I've looked it up and the switch can be in different places but this caddy doesn't have any switch anywhere. I also don't know if his laptop requires the switch or not, as it's not clear when its necessary or not, but seems as though you don't always need a switch either. We don't really have any way to test the caddy by itself to know if it's any good or not either.

Is there any chance the laptop just won't allow for a third storage drive? I'm not really clear exactly on how the caddy works in the ODD SATA slot, but it sounds like it basically tricks the BIOS into thinking there's an ODD still in there, which allows Windows to see and use the SSD in the caddy? If that's the case I don't see why any laptop wouldn't be able to use a caddy with an extra storage drive, but perhaps that's not the case?

Just not sure what to think. Right now I'm kinda assuming he either needs a caddy with the switch or this caddy itself is faulty. Anything I might be missing? Any other idea's?

Here's the caddy product link:

Could it be that you can only connect one device through the SATA, as in, either the 2.5 inch storage or the disc drive, without the switch?

From what I've read since, the switch apparently has something to do with tricking the laptop into thinking the ODD eject button has been pressed, giving full power to the SATA port. I think. That might explain it, except in the reviews, I've since seen some buyers mention not only HP laptops but HP 17's that this caddy apparently worked in, and while there's different 17 models, most of the time they are set up very similar if not almost identical. So the odds that mine is different enough to not work with this caddy would seem quite unlikely, especially since all these caddies look to be made to be universal.

The SATA ODD and 2.5" internal SATA HDD can both be operational and even transferring data at the same time, so I don't really see why the HDD/SSD caddy would need a switch in this case to have the second SATA HDD in the caddy, besides if it is a lack power problem without the switch, but I've tried everything I can think of and everything I've been able to dig up on the net and nothing has worked. It leaves me assuming the caddy does need the switch, or is faulty, or the laptop can't take a second SATA storage drive or third storage drive period.
