FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S CREATOR APOLOGIZES FOR UGLY FNAF WORLD LAUNCH

http://www.pcgamer.com/five-nights-at-freddys-creator-apologizes-for-ugly-fnaf-world-launch/

Five Nights at Freddy's World is quite a departure from the usual Five Nights fare. It's a cute, colorful adventure-RPG starring entirely-unscary manifestations of your favorite FNAF animatronics. It wasn't supposed to be out until next month, but it actually went live yesterday—a premature launch that creator Scott Cawthon now says he regrets.

A young boy travels through a dream-like world of fantastical creatures and shadow people while learning to conquer his deepest fears. No, this isn’t the premise of the next J.K. Rowling novel; it’s Between Me and the Night, a surreal adventure game from indie developer RainDance LX.

SVEN CO-OP, THE HALF-LIFE-BASED MULTIPLAYER GAME, IS NOW LIVE ON STEAM

http://www.pcgamer.com/sven-co-op-the-half-life-based-multiplayer-game-is-now-live-on-steam/

Sven Co-op is, as the title suggests (the Co-op part, not the Sven part) a cooperative multiplayer game based on Valve's mega-hit FPS Half-Life. It actually began development as a Half-Life mod more than 15 years ago, but in the summer of 2013 Valve gave the team permission to release it as a standalone game on Steam. And today, it's finally happening

STARWARD ROGUE RELEASED; BIONIC DUES CURRENTLY FREE

http://www.pcgamer.com/starward-rogue-released-bionic-dues-free-for-the-next-few-hours/

Arcen Games, of Skyward Collapse and A.I. War and The Last Federation and *deep breath* A Valley Without Wind and lots of other games fame, has released its latest. Its latest is named Starward Rogue, and it's a roguelike featuring bullet hell elements. Bullet hellements, if you will. It's set in a "roguelite labyrinth lodged in the side of a star", and one of the characters is a plonker called Rodney, so it's relevant to at least two of my interests.

HARVEST MOON-LIKE WORLD'S DAWN FINALLY FINISHED, HITS STEAM TOMORROW

http://www.pcgamer.com/harvest-moon-like-worlds-dawn-finally-finished-hits-steam-tomorrow/

I first mentioned World's Dawn way back in 2014, when the inaugural part of the seasonal Harvest Moon-like emerged. Developer David Grund released regular updates afterwards, adding the Summer, Autumn and Winter seasons to the enormous life sim—he also ran a successful Kickstarter campaign, which allowed him to spruce up its looks, sounds, and the way it plays. Now, World's Dawn is finally, properly finished—and it's heading to Steam tomorrow.

BEESWING DEV'S DUJANAH MIXES ISLAM, METROID, MECHS

http://www.pcgamer.com/beeswing-devs-dujanah-mixes-islam-metroid-mechs/

You might know Jack King-Spooner for his lovely, autobiographical Beeswing, set in the titular town in rural Scotland. He's heading a bit further afield for his next game, Dujanah, a magical realist game "set in a fictional Islamic majority country that has an occupying military force". You're a woman named Dujanah, and you don't like that occupying force very much, leading to "various moral, psychological and political dilemmas".

Time to talk about future monitors.

TFT Central has listed the future new panels that we'll get this year from the biggest manufacturers: AOU, LG and Samsung. (Note that this is about the new panels, not the new monitors)

http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/news_archive/35.htm#panels_jan

AU Optronics

Only two new, curved, ultra-wide panels featuring VA tech and the same 3440x1440 resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate in 35"(Q2) and 30"(Q3) sizes. Note that 3440x1440@144Hz goes beyond what DisplayPort 1.2 can do, so it is expected that they will sport the new DP 1.3 connector.

LG.Display

Four new panels. Three of them will be of their borderless neo-blade line and will come in 23.8", 27" and 31.5" sizes. No info is given on the panels themselves, but expect them to be IPS.

But the main protagonist will arrive in Q3 2016 with a new 37.5" panel that will feature an incredible 3840 x 1600 resolution. It will be an IPS panel with 14ms G2G response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio and 178/178 viewing angles. Given the perfect 2.4:1 design (true cinema screen ratio) and the high response time, this panel will be aimed more towards watching movies rather than gaming.

Samsung

They also have four new panels, with three of them being... unique. The only regular monitor will be a curved 31.5" panel with SVA tech, 2560x1440 resolution and 144Hz. It will arrive in Q3 2016.

Now with the weird ones. The first two will come in 41" and 49" sizes with a FHD+ resolution (they don't know what is that) and the novelty resides in their 32:9 aspect ratio. If 21:9 is already wide, imagine 32:9 that is about 50% wider! Madness.

The last one, which also come in Q3, is a 31.5" panel with whopping 8K4K or 7680 x 4230 resolution. Before anyone gets too excited on the prospect of getting one, all signs point that this will be a professional panel.

ROCKET LEAGUE'S SECOND SEASON WILL KICK OFF IN FEBRUARY

http://www.pcgamer.com/rocket-leagues-second-season-will-kick-off-in-february/

Psyonix has announced that a new Rocket League patch scheduled for rollout in February will conclude the first season of competition and make “a TON of improvements” to the game—caps theirs—based on player feedback. The goal of the second season is to “de-emphasize the importance of single wins or losses,” the studio said, and instead focus on long-term performance and improvement.

FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S WORLD HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM STEAM

http://www.pcgamer.com/five-nights-at-freddys-world-has-been-removed-from-steam/

After a rough launch that led to an apology for the incomplete state of the game, Five Nights at Freddy's World has been removed from Steam. FNAF creator Scott Cawthon said in a message that in spite of the relatively positive overall reception the game had received, he “was not satisfied with the reviews and ratings it was getting.”

TMNT: MUTANTS IN MANHATTAN OFFICIALLY REVEALED

http://www.pcgamer.com/tmnt-mutants-in-manhattan-officially-revealed/

There are several things about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that go way over my staid head. Why are the mutant ninjas turtles, for one? And wouldn't adult mutant ninja turtles be a more effective crime-fighting force? Despite these philosophical questions, Platinum still manages to make me want to control a cel-shaded ninja turtle in that there videogame: Mutants in Manhattan.

PLANET COASTER VIDEO DETAILS BUILDING AND SHARING

http://www.pcgamer.com/planet-coaster-video-details-building-and-sharing/

I keep stumbling into people who would never declare themselves gamers but who nonetheless have hours of happy memories of making people hurl on RollerCoaster Tycoon. Tormenting ordinary citizens and making them pay for the privilege is, apparently, a universal pleasure. Frontier is rennovating that thrill ride with Planet Coaster, for the modern entertainment tycoon. Previously the team have shared how they simulate every visitor, and now they're back to talk about building tools and showing off (and with these building tools, I'd want to show off).

FIRST FOOTAGE OF SUNLESS SEA ZUBMARINER DLC SURFACES

I'm a suckerfish for shanties and tales of the dark, cold expanse of Failbetter's Unterzee, so imagine my delight and simultaneous horror at the October announcement that Sunless Sea's first expansion will make things darker and colder still. The Zubmariner DLC promises to take us under the waves to ship graveyards and deeps where evil sleeps, and the first footage has now slithered from the shadows.

DANGEROUS GOLF IS GOLF VIA BURNOUT AND NBA JAM

http://www.pcgamer.com/dangerous-golf-is-golf-via-burnout-and-nba-jam/

Do you know how I can tell that Dangerous Golf is being made by industry veterans? There's no 'Simulator' hanging extraneously off the end. It's just 'Dangerous Golf', full stop. Golf that is dangerous. Three Fields Entertainment is partially composed of Criterion's founding members, and Dangerous Golf has Burnout in its genes. Remember Burnout's Crash mode, where you caused as much carnage as possible with one fell swerve? Dangerous Golf is like that, but you yell 'FORE!' before walloping a fiery meteor.

I'm curious to see them because they will look very weird.

Imagine if they are 1080p (they are FHD+, after all), that would mean that they would be 3840 wide. That's insane!

Yeah, I'm guessing they are 3840x1080. For that screen size that might not be such a great res, but on the up side that's just 12.5% more pixels than 1440p - which still seems to be the sweet spot for ultra settings@60fps.
