The fact that 4 of those SKUs are just variations of the others but with more RAM because it's soldered in the package makes me sad.

MODS, EMULATORS & FAN PROJECTS

This Cyberpunk 2077 Mod attempts to restore the abandoned North Oak’s Casino
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/this-cyberpunk-2077-mod-attempts-to-restore-the-abandoned-north-oaks-casino/
Modder ‘SirMZK’ has released a pretty cool new mod for Cyberpunk 2077 that attempts to restore the abandoned North Oak’s Casino & Exclusive Club. Since this mod adds new free content to the game, we highly recommend downloading it. So, let’s take a closer look at it, shall we?
The creator of this mod used an AMM preset to bring some life to the empty North Oak Casino. Now, you can enjoy the first part of a big project that aims to restore the entire interior of this fancy club.
Right now, this is a simple AMM preset, and does not provide any extra quests, characters or interactivity. This is simply a new place you can visit and wander.
In future updates, SirMZK plans to add a second casino interior, change the outside seating and where NPCs are placed, make some changes to allow more floors, and remove the roadblocks leading to the casino.
>> There’s an over 20 minutes video of the mod.

Most Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree mods just make the DLC easier, including a 'Journalist mode' which lets you take 50% less damage
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/most-elden-ring-shadow-of-the-erdtree-mods-just-make-the-dlc-easier-including-a-journalist-mode-which-lets-you-take-50-less-damage/
So far, the discourse around Elden Ring's DLC Shadow of the Erdtree has been wrapped up in a debate about whether or not the DLC for the notoriously hard game, made by the hard game company, is too hard. With certain streamers throwing in the towel and Bandai Namco calling players out for not leveling up their Scadutree Blessing, it seems like there's a pretty big market for a DLC experience that's dialed down a bit—just take a look at Nexus Mods.
A great deal of the mods on offer for Shadow of the Erdtree strive to make the DLC easier in some way. There are mods that give players access to the new Dryleaf arts without having to wait for 100 levels, as well as ones that drastically level up your character. One of those even lands you at level 713 and gives you all the weapons, spells, and blessings, so you can finally feel like the Elden Lord that you always wanted to be.
Another mod, named Shadow of the Erdtree Journalist Mode, gives you the ability to take 50% less damage if you use the Crimson Amber Medallion, or if you pick Researcher Mode, the medallion lets you take zero damage, which is both pretty funny and terribly broken. "[It] makes the DLC damage a lot more tolerable by making the Crimson Amber medallion a difficulty switch talisman," modder Sereenaty says in the description. But you'll have to choose one or the other, not both.
The beauty of mods is that they let players customise their experience and allow them to do whatever they want. So, if you just want to walk through boss encounters while just looking at the scenery and delving into the lore, then this is probably the best way to do it. But modding a FromSoft game so you take no or less damage seems like it's missing the point slightly.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree may still take inspiration from Berserk, but this mod will turn you into the best sorcerer from Jujutsu Kaisen
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/elden-ring-shadow-of-the-erdtree-may-still-take-inspiration-from-berserk-but-this-mod-will-turn-you-into-the-best-sorcerer-from-jujutsu-kaisen/
It was clear from the very beginning that Elden Ring is chock-full of Berserk references. Whether that be the fact that the Erdtree itself is so clearly inspired by Berserk's World Spiral Tree or the fact that you can obtain a greatsword that looks almost identical to Guts'.
There's still clearly a link in Elden Ring's new DLC Shadow of the Erdtree, such as comparisons between Miquella to Griffith and the Furnace Gollems to the Celtic Wickerman, to name a few. But if this isn't enough for you fans have been adding more references to other mangas.
Modder McKenyu made a Gojo and Sukuna Moveset mod, letting you become a pretty fearsome jujutsu sorcerer. It introduces a set of animations "inspired by Jujutsu Kaisen characters, Gojo and Sukuna," according to McKenyu. This is done via two weapons: the Cursed Finger martial arts moveset with spear summon, and the Six Eyes martial arts moveset with kick focus. You can buy it at Twin Maiden Husk. The weapons also let you use seven incantations, including projectiles Reversal Red, Lapse Blue, Hollow Purple, and Divine Flame, as well as the domain expansion Malevolent Shrine, to name a few.

This Baldur's Gate 3 mod turns the game into a chaotic roguelike, which is great if you just want to slay some monsters like you're in an old school D&D campaign
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/baldurs-gate/this-baldur-s-gate-3-mod-turns-the-game-into-a-chaotic-roguelike-which-is-great-if-you-just-want-to-slay-some-monsters-like-you-re-in-an-old-school-d-d-campaign/
I've finished Baldur's Gate 3 two times, nearly three. There was my initial playthrough, my first Honour Mode victory, and an evil playthrough on the same difficulty where I got to Act 3 and sort of tapered off. Not for any particular reason, mind, other than the fact that if you spend over 280+ hours with an RPG you're going to get bored at some point.
Part of the "problem", one that's really no one's fault, was Baldur's Gate 3's story. For all of its excellent writing, all of its twists and turns, and all of its unexpected dialogue, well, same deal—you can only read the same book so many times. Which would mean that any playthrough I wanted to do for the purposes of mucking around with its faithful rendition of D&D 5e combat would involve a lot of jogging and cutscene skipping.
Enter Trials of Tav, an excellent little mod from Nexus Mods user Hippo0o, which just ate my entire lunch break. This turns Baldur's Gate 3 into a straight-up roguelike, where you'll need to fight a grab bag of enemies in a set of randomly selected battle arenas. Honestly, it's a complete blast.
You can play Trials of Tav on any difficulty, but to get the roguelike experience, Honour Mode is recommended. The name of the game is to get your "roguescore" as high as possible which, consequently, sets you up against harder and harder foes.
To help you along your way, each round gives you a set amount of currency, which you can use to grab buffs from the story (such as the pixie's blessing for Act 2's shadow curse), ability score improvements, and mindflayer tadpoles. Each time you beat a fight, you get a piñata of loot to slap on your crew.

The slightly longer second part of the news to avoid a third part:

John Romero says that what set Wolfenstein and Doom apart 'was our speed—the speed of the game was critical'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/john-romero-says-that-what-set-wolfenstein-and-doom-apart-was-our-speedthe-speed-of-the-game-was-critical/
John Romero could be ordained as Pope, and people would still come up at mass and ask him about the early days of id Software and Doom. One of the key figures in early FPS history and by far the most infamous and outspoken, Romero's brand of hirsute grungy swagger worked for a very simple reason: the games he designed and promoted were brilliant (until they weren't).
These days Romero is head of Romero Games, currently working on an unannounced FPS, and has given an interview to Ars Technica about being known for Doom over three decades. Doom of course was the culmination of id's work up until that point, but that was standing on the shoulders of the successful Wolfenstein 3D, which itself had followed from the earlier id titles Hovertank One and Catacomb 3-D.

Nearly 6 months later, Palworld devs confirm Nintendo never drew so much as an inch of its legal sword over bootleg Pokémon allegations
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/survival-crafting/nearly-6-months-later-palworld-devs-confirm-nintendo-never-drew-so-much-as-an-inch-of-its-legal-sword-over-bootleg-pokemon-allegations/
Palworld's meteoric popularity has naturally settled from its obscene all-time peak of 2 million players, which is only natural for a game released in early access—and for any popular game period. No monarch rules forever.
Early critiques aimed at the game involved the idea that the Palworld, which blends creature collection and survival game mechanics, was a "rip off" of beloved franchise Pokémon, overseen in part by the famously-litigious Nintendo—a company that has a habit of bringing down the legal hammer on emulators, Garry's Mod, and, well, people.
(...)
This came to a head when the Pokémon Company issued a "we're looking into it" statement towards the end of January. Now, as confirmed by an interview with gaming newsletter GameFile (thanks, Eurogamer), Palworld's creator Takuro Mizobe says that the studio heard "nothing at all … Nintendo and the Pokémon Company didn't say anything to us".

Total War: Warhammer 3 is giving away a big dog that summons little dogs for free
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/strategy/total-war-warhammer-3-is-giving-away-a-big-dog-that-summons-little-dogs-for-free/
Total War: Warhammer 3 seems to have clawed its way back into players' good graces, turning things around with the superb Thrones of Decay DLC, which gave us flying ships, boozed-up dwarfs and one world-conquering maggot. Creative Assembly is still working on its follow-up, focused on the Khorne, Greenskins and Ogre Kingdoms factions—but in the meantime, we're all getting a freebie. His name is Karanak, he is a good boy, and you can add him to your armies now.

Dead by Daylight's new survivor is 'a legendary character that epitomizes the spirit of survival instinct,' and her name is Lara Croft
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/horror/dead-by-daylights-new-survivor-is-a-legendary-character-that-epitomizes-the-spirit-of-survival-instinct-and-her-name-is-lara-croft/
The asymmetric horror game Dead by Daylight has finagled a lot of high-profile crossovers over the years—Alan Wake, Nicolas Cage, Ellen Ripley, Vecna, the list goes on—and the latest addition to the lineup is no exception. Lara Croft, the OG tomb raider, is coming to the game in July, and is playable right now via a public test build on Steam.

Farming Simulator 25 announced, with a collector's edition that includes a 'USB ignition lock' that lets you turn a real key to start your virtual tractors

Farming Simulator 25 is launching on November 12, developer Giants Software announced today—but before we get to all the details about the new game and cinematic reveal trailer, I want to talk about something else. Giants also announced that there's a "Collector's Edition" of Farming Simulator 25 which comes with a "USB ignition lock" that lets you insert and turn a real key "to start the engines of in-game tractors."

Former Halo and Destiny producer says live service model is 'much better for developers and players' than the '$60 boxed product model'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/battle-royale/former-halo-and-destiny-producer-says-live-service-model-is-much-better-for-developers-and-players-than-the-dollar60-boxed-product-model/
Joe Tung, CEO and co-founder of developer Theorycraft Games, started out his career in games as the lead producer on Halo 3 before moving on to be executive producer on Halo: Reach and Destiny at Bungie. In an interview with PC Gamer promoting his new MOBA-like battle royale game Supervive, Tung said that during his time at Bungie he had to make decisions that "were not in the best interest of players" and that a lot of E3 demos at the time (though not necessarily Bungie's) showed off "bullshit vaporware." The problem, he thinks, is the whole "boxed product model."

Forza Horizon 4 is being removed from sale because of expiring licenses, but at least it'll keep running after it's gone
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/racing/forza-horizon-4-is-being-removed-from-sale-because-of-expiring-licenses-but-at-least-itll-keep-running-after-its-gone/
Forza Horizon 4, a game so good we said it was "worth enduring the pain of the Microsoft Store" to play—pretty damn good, in other words—is going away. Microsoft announced today that because of expiring licenses, it will be delisted from digital storefronts in December 2024, meaning it will no longer be available for purchase.
(...)
All Forza Horizon 4 DLC will be delisted today, leaving only the standard, deluxe, and ultimate editions of the game available for purchase. Those will remain up on Steam and the Microsoft Store until the full delisting occurs on December 15.
>> The article is from 18 hours ago, therefore yesterday, and the Steam page for the game has already removed the DLCs.

MMOs 'don't give people the tools to build community anymore,' says EverQuest 2 creative director
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/mmo/mmos-dont-give-people-the-tools-to-build-community-anymore-says-everquest-2-creative-director/
Kyle Vallee, creative director for EverQuest 2, is a huge fan of MMOs and has played basically all of them—but he thinks the genre has lost its way in one respect. The sense of community early MMOs cultivated is being sidelined, he says.

GOG is bringing the original Resident Evil trilogy back from the dead, and to digital PC storefronts for the first time
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/resident-evil/gog-is-bringing-the-original-resident-evil-trilogy-back-from-the-dead-and-to-digital-pc-storefronts-for-the-first-time/
Barely a week after a strange PEGI rating for the original PC version of Resident Evil appeared on the ratings board's website, the aura of mystery has been broken. Turns out the entire original RE trilogy is due for its first release on digital storefronts.
The release comes courtesy of, you guessed it, GOG, no doubt flush with the success of rescuing the excellent spy RPG Alpha Protocol from licensing hell. The company says it's teamed up with Capcom to put 1996's Resident Evil, 1998's Resident Evil 2, and 1999's Resident Evil 3 on the world wide web. They're not all releasing simultaneously: for now you can only buy and play RE1, with 2 and 3 following later down the line.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree's latest patch buffs your power in its earlier hours, with 'other balance adjustments' to come—also, you may need to turn ray tracing off again
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/elden-ring-shadow-of-the-erdtree-s-latest-patch-buffs-your-power-in-its-earlier-hours-with-other-balance-adjustments-to-come-also-you-may-need-to-turn-ray-tracing-off-again/
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, despite being critically lauded (fellow PC Gamer writer Tyler Colp gave it a 95 in his Shadow of the Erdtree review, himself) has somehow reignited the age-old Elden Ring difficulty discourse—although more people are on the side of toning things down than they were in 2022, as Steam reviews dropped to "Mixed" last week.
(...)
Well, it looks like FromSoftware's pumping the brakes a little bit. As announced in the DLC's first balance patch, the "attack and damage negation curve scaling of the Shadow Realm Blessings have been revised."

Zenless Zone Zero's launch roster won't quite match the numbers of Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, but its producer says the team is going for 'quality not quantity'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/zenless-zone-zeros-launch-roster-wont-quite-match-the-numbers-of-genshin-impact-and-honkai-star-rail-but-its-producer-says-the-team-is-going-for-quality-not-quantity/
Those who are well-versed with miHoYo's library of games may have noticed that Zenless Zone Zero's base roster is looking a touch anaemic in comparison to what Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail launched with. The action-RPG is launching with 15 agents, which isn't a low number by any means, but it is notably less than Genshin's 22 characters and Honkai: Star Rail's 23.

Helldivers 2 director weighs in on Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree's difficulty: 'A game for everyone is a game for no one'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/helldivers-2-director-weighs-in-on-elden-ring-shadow-of-the-erdtrees-difficulty-a-game-for-everyone-is-a-game-for-no-one/
Despite its critical success, most of the discourse surrounding Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree involves how difficult the game is, with many players bogged down by brutal boss fights and an unforgiving environment. It got so bad that the DLC is currently at Mixed reviews on Steam as many players agree it's too hard to be enjoyable, but even still, there are some fans who think the high skill ceiling is a great feature and one that makes FromSoft games stand out.
One such person is Helldivers 2 director Johan Pilestedt, who recently began replying to Shadow of the Erdtree players, discussing its difficulty and talking about why he actually likes it. "The games industry is now big enough for there to be so many exciting experiences for all audiences," Pilestedt says. "I try to imagine having this variety when I was 10... It would have been mind-blowing!"
>> I don’t know how old he is, but the Ninja Gaiden titles were renowned by its difficulty.

Zenless Zone Zero's producer has spent an ungodly amount of time playing Street Fighter 6, which makes the whisperings of a collaboration even more understandable
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/zenless-zone-zeros-producer-has-spent-an-ungodly-amount-of-time-playing-street-fighter-6-which-makes-the-whisperings-of-a-collaboration-even-more-understandable/
Taking a peek at screenshots of New Eridu—Zenless Zone Zero's main hub—I couldn't help but get some mild Street Fighter 6 Metro City vibes. Turns out they aren't totally misplaced, as producer Zhenyu Li is a huge fan of the fighting game and has put a lotta hours into playing it. Considering the two games seem set to collaborate with each other, it makes even more sense that Street Fighter 6 has served as an inspiration for Li during Zenless Zone Zero's development.

Like karaoke, escape rooms, and showering, some things are just more fun with friends. Same goes with games: solving puzzles and overcoming obstacles can turn beating a game into a true collaboration, and that's a feeling you just can't get when playing solo.
But every so often a co-op game comes along that feels like it's designed to end your friendships rather than strengthen them. (Overcooked: I'm looking at you.) The latest entry in that category is called Chained Together, a brutally punishing multiplayer platformer where you're literally connected at the waist to your co-op partners by a chain.
(...)
Chained Together is only a few bucks on Steam, and it's quickly become a hit in the week since it launched: today it peaked at about 94,000 concurrent players. Just like its players, it'll be fun to see how high it climbs before it starts tumbling back down.

AMD is once again playing catch-up, announces Neural Texture Block Compression
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/amd-is-once-again-playing-catch-up-announces-neural-texture-block-compression/
AMD is, once again, caught playing catch-up. After revealing alternatives to NVIDIA’s DLSS Super Resolution and DLSS Frame Generation, the red team has announced an alternative to NVIDIA’s Neural Texture Compression.
For those unaware, at Siggraph 2023, NVIDIA presented their Neural Texture Compression (NTC) solution. This AI-powered compression reduces texture sizes while keeping their quality high. NVIDIA claimed back then that this new format is better than the old AVIF and JPEG XL formats.
And earlier today, AMD announced its plans to reveal its own Neural Texture Block Compression at EGSR2024. As with NVIDIA, AMD will be using neural networks to compress textures.
AMD promises that this technology will be easy to implement as it uses unchanged runtime execution. However, there is no word on when – and if – video-games will take advantage of it.
For what it’s worth, NVIDIA’s Neural Texture Compression hasn’t been used in any game. However, as we’ve noted in a previous article, NVIDIA may find a way to implement this tech in future versions of DLSS. Or at least that’s what NVIDIA’s CEO Jensen Huang hinted at.

Look out, Shadowplay: Steam now has a built-in 'Game Recording' feature that will automatically record gameplay videos you can clip, share, and export
https://www.pcgamer.com/software/look-out-shadowplay-steam-now-has-a-built-in-game-recording-feature-that-will-automatically-record-gameplay-videos-you-can-clip-share-and-export/
Recording gameplay clips on PC isn't difficult: Software like OBS Studio or Nvidia Shadowplay actually makes it quite simple. But remembering to use it, and remembering to stop using it when you're done, makes the whole process a pain in the ass. Whomst among us, I ask, hasn't dropped an f-bomb 20 minutes into a 30-minute presentation because you forgot to record it, or discovered that your mysteriously missing drive space is the result of a 200-hour recording of your desktop?
Steam's new Game Recording feature promises to reduce at least some of those headaches by building the whole thing into the client, and—this is big for people like me—automatically recording your gaming sessions in the background. Videos can be viewed directly through the Steam client or overlay, and clips can be easily taken and shared.

Now what’s interesting here is that there is already a 60fps mod for it. For those who did not know, the game is locked at 30fps on Nintendo Switch. As such, by using this 60fps mod, PC gamers can actually get a better gaming experience on their PC via emulation.

This mod adds to Skyrim high-polygon dragons with 16K textures
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/this-mod-adds-to-skyrim-high-polygon-dragons-with-16k-textures/
Modder ‘Lucaoys’ has released a pretty cool mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition. This mod adds to the game high-polygon dragons with 16K textures, allowing you to behold those creatures in their full glory.
Going into more details, the modder has increased the polycount of the dragons from 15.300 to almost 70.000. Moreover, he increased their textures by four times.
Do note though that the mod brings a cosmetic and stylistic change. Now, the dragons are less spiky and don’t look as cartoonish. Their heads will look more like real dinosaurs. The dragons have more teeth, bigger wings, and longer tails, making them look more elegant. They also have larger horns, thicker bodies, and more padding on their feet. Overall, the dragons look more like dinosaurs and appear more cinematic, rather than like lizards or iguanas.

Thursday news, the sequel:

The new game from the maker of El Paso, Elsewhere is about a man in a chair in the corner of a dark hotel room, and yes, he wants to watch

Strange Scaffold, the studio behind weird-but-good games including An Airport for Aliens Currently Run by Dogs, El Paso Elsewhere, I Am Your Beast, and Life Eater has announced its latest weird (but hopefully good) game: Clickolding, "a dark incremental narrative game about thumbing a tally counter to satisfy the distressing masked man sitting in the corner of your hotel room."

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide's latest update adds new weapons and a mission to reactivate an icy AdMech foundry
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/warhammer-40000-darktides-latest-update-adds-new-weapons-and-a-mission-to-reactivate-an-icy-admech-foundry/
After pulling off a Darktide redemption arc last year, Fatshark's not resting on its inquisitorial laurels. Secrets of the Machine God, Darktide's latest update, arrived earlier today, bringing a new mission to revive an abandoned Adeptus Mechanicus foundry and a set of new weapon types. If you're not already thrilled, you should be: It's never a bad time when the tech-priests are around.

The game about clicking a banana finally keeps track of how many times you click the banana
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/the-game-about-clicking-a-banana-finally-keeps-track-of-how-many-times-you-click-the-banana/
Banana is a game about clicking on a banana. That's literally it: There's a picture of a banana, and you click on it. Somehow, it's tremendously popular—it's currently the third-most played game on Steam, and I will provide a picture to prove it. But it's been lacking in one vital feature: It did not keep track of how many times you actually clicked on the damn banana.
But that is a problem no more. An update released today adds cumulative banana-click tracking to the game, so instead of resetting the counter every time the game starts, it will carry your clicks over from session to session.

This twin-stick shooter is a Desert Strike throwback except your helicopter talks, drinks blood, and defends the world from a lizard-man invasion
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/this-twin-stick-shooter-is-a-desert-strike-throwback-except-your-helicopter-talks-drinks-blood-and-defends-the-world-from-a-lizard-man-invasion/
My first PC game was a helicopter game. In fact, it was the helicopter game: 1982's Choplifter, which came with the Apple IIe computer my dad bought from Radio Shack. I played it until my thumb was sore from pushing the joystick button: bombing tanks and barracks on the ground, dodging jets in the sky, and rescuing the little hostages frantically waving for help. All these years later I still keep my eyes peeled for any new helicopter games with a bit of that ol' arcadey Choplifter spirit in them.
Oh, hello there, Megacopter: Blades of the Goddess. Yes, that is an incredible title for a game, and I'm happy to report that things only get better from the main menu. Here's the radical launch trailer to make my case for me

Future Total War: Warhammer 3 DLC will expand the popular Immortal Empires campaign instead of the controversial Realm of Chaos because 'Immortal Empires is the quintessential Warhammer experience'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/strategy/future-total-war-warhammer-3-dlc-will-expand-the-popular-immortal-empires-campaign-instead-of-the-controversial-realm-of-chaos-because-immortal-empires-is-the-quintessential-warhammer-experience/
Creative Assembly is trying out a new format for its community updates, which will hopefully placate its fractious fans, with a 17-minute chat between the developers on "What's Next?" The upcoming DLC gets some more detail, but before going into that, the team explains that they've listened to feedback from players and will be shifting future additions away from the Realm of Chaos narrative campaign and over to the sandbox Immortal Empires campaign. "Our next DLCs will be focused on IE specifically for our new characters and our factions," says senior game director Rich Aldridge.

'I absolutely suck at video games': Hidetaka Miyazaki discusses how he prepped for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/i-absolutely-suck-at-video-games-hidetaka-miyazaki-discusses-how-he-prepped-for-elden-ring-shadow-of-the-erdtree/
It's safe to say that Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree was one of the most anticipated games for 2024, with long time souls fans having waited a couple of years since the base game's release, and new players desperately trying to speedrun to Mohg so they'd be ready to dive straight in. But it seems like we weren't the only ones prepping, as director Hidetaka Miyazaki also had a prerelease routine that he's kindly shared.

FromSoftware all but gets on its knees and begs Shadow of the Erdtree players to take their Scadutree supplements, posts a map to one on Steam
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/fromsoftware-all-but-gets-on-its-knees-and-begs-shadow-of-the-erdtree-players-to-take-their-scadutree-supplements-posts-a-map-to-an-early-game-location-on-steam/
You've likely been made aware of Shadow of the Erdtree's step up in difficulty, by now (…)
FromSoftware's focus right now, however, is aimed at the early-game experience, which may give you the impression that the DLC is crushingly difficult if—and this is very important—you ignore the expansion's core power scaling mechanic, Scadutree Fragments.
(...)
On a news post titled "Tips: How to strengthen your character in Shadow of the Erdtree," FromSoftware all but gets on its hands and knees and begs players to actually use the mechanic it tried so hard to introduce them to. The font size and selective bolding is really the cherry on top here.

Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail gets its own tourism website, complete with activity recs, recipes, and small-print about dying horribly
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/final-fantasy/final-fantasy-14-dawntrail-gets-its-own-tourism-website-complete-with-activity-recs-recipes-and-small-print-about-dying-horribly/
Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail is entering its "early access" period tomorrow—players who pre-order it'll be able to get on a boat to Tural before anyone else, though it's more of a formality (and a chance to get a shiny EXP earring) since the cut-off for the pre-order rewards is July 2 when the game releases.
To celebrate, Square Enix has pulled out all the stops to create a fake tourism website for Tural, the continent we'll be sailing to—and it's honestly downright adorable. They even got in Rhys Darby to do some video promotions for Tural tourism—or "Turalism"—who you might recognise as Stede Bonnett from Our Flag Means Death and Russel from Half-Life: Alyx.
