https://www.pcgamer.com/half-life-alyxs-novr-mod-is-looking-so-good-i-might-finally-play-the-game/
The NoVR project for Half-Life: Alyx is not yet complete, but it already looks like it offers a satisfactory way to experience the 2020 shooter without an expensive, bulky headset. Recent updates have added a full-on, custom viewmodel for the pistol and made NoVR compatible with other mods, and by god, I might finally drop some actual cash on this game I literally can't play in its intended form.

Anger from voice actors as NSFW mods use AI deepfakes to replicate their voices: 'This is NOT okay.'
https://www.pcgamer.com/anger-from-voice-actors-as-nsfw-mods-use-ai-deepfakes-to-replicate-their-voices-this-is-not-okay/
A slew of pornographic mods on the Nexus Mods website has caused mounting anger in the voice acting community. As reported by Gamesradar, Twitter user Robbie92_ has posted a list of Skyrim voice actors who have had their voices used against their will for NSFW mods, earlier this week.
These actors include April Stewart, who in addition to multiple characters in Skyrim, is the voice of Petra Venj in Destiny 2 and Jessamine Kaldwin in Dishonoured 2; Jon Curry, who voiced Zevran in Dragon Age: Origins; and Susan Eisenberg, who has voiced Wonder Woman in both animation and video games since 2001.
>> Nexus Mods will have to do something about this before it spirals out of control.

Call of Duty: Warzone players are racking up wins by standing still in the gulag
https://www.pcgamer.com/call-of-duty-warzone-players-are-racking-up-wins-by-standing-still-in-the-gulag/
I can't think of a more infuriating way to lose a battle royale match than to get kills, outlast 148 other souls, and carefully maneuver to the final circle only to realize you're somehow alone on the map and die of poison gas once the circle completely closes.
Such has been the plight for victims of Call of Duty: Warzone 2's worst bug as of late. For months players have reported instances of getting stuck in the gulag, Warzone's second chance system that lets you earn your way back to land of the living by winning a 1v1. Those affected by the bug arrive in the gulag to await their duel, but the game simply forgets you're there, trapped in Call of Duty purgatory while the rest of the match happens miles away.

Diablo 4 Season 1 is basically adding super gems that let you make 'stupid, new broken builds'
https://www.pcgamer.com/diablo-4-season-1-start-date-details/
Things are, somehow, getting worse in Sanctuary. Diablo 4 Season 1, aka the "Season of the Malignant," was revealed today during a livestream. The gist is that there's a curse going around, and it's turning humans and demons even more feral than usual. On the plus side, we'll be able to slot "Malignant Hearts" into gem slots for "stupid, new broken builds," says Blizzard.

This Polish pixel horror game is breaking the laws of camera physics in an awesome way

Holstin is an upcoming indie horror-adventure game set in eastern Poland in the early 1990s. A small town has been beset by a "calamity" that's engulfing all it touches—people and property alike—and for some reason it's fallen to you to discover what happened to your missing friend Bartek, why he travelled to this strange place, and what sort of wretched horror has overcome it.

2022's best survival city builder will let you 'customize your faith' with a new religion system
https://www.pcgamer.com/2022s-best-survival-city-builder-will-let-you-customize-your-faith-with-a-new-religion-system/
When survival city builder Farthest Frontier launched into early access in 2022, players noted a pretty big omission. (...)
The lack of religious buildings in Farthest Frontier was deliberate. "If we ever incorporate a faith system of some kind, I think it would be best if it was a customizable system where you name the faith and decide its bonuses/features," Crate Entertainment designer Zantai said at the time.
You can now dispel the "if" in that statement, because the new system is coming to Farthest Frontier in August, as revealed in a Twitch stream hosted by Zantai earlier today. In the 0.9 update, players will be able to build a massive temple in their city that will let you "customize your faith" by filling it with religious relics that give various bonuses (and in one case, a dangerous debuff) not just to local villagers but to the entire city.

Sega's infatuation with the blockchain is over: 'What's the point if games are no fun?'
https://www.pcgamer.com/segas-infatuation-with-the-blockchain-is-over-whats-the-point-if-games-are-no-fun/
Despite being one of the first companies to hop on the blockchain fever of the past couple of years, Sega now wants its major franchises to get off the crypto rollercoaster, as reported by Bloomberg yesterday. Co-Chief Operating Officer of Sega Japan Shuji Utsumi informed Bloomberg that it will keep Sega's blockbuster franchises, such as Yakuza and Sonic the Hedgehog, away from any blockchain plans to avoid "devaluing" them.
(...)
Sega do however intend to continue to "let external partners use its lesser-known Three Kingdoms and Virtua Fighter characters for non-fungible tokens", Bloomberg reported.

Diablo 4 players rush to hide their bugged ultra-rares as Blizzard clampdown begins 'literally hotfixing fun'

Have you managed to get hold of one of Diablo 4's six ultra-rare "Uber Unique" items in the last day or so? Better cling onto it, then. Blizzard has responded to a recent bug that dramatically increased the drop rate for Diablo's rarest and most sought-after items by temporarily clamping down hard: Until the studio can put out a patch later today, no Uber Unique items will drop in Diablo 4 at all.

Steam sends 90 low-effort asset-flips and bootleg games off to the great trashcan fire in the sky
https://www.pcgamer.com/steam-sends-90-low-effort-asset-flips-and-bootleg-games-off-to-the-great-trashcan-fire-in-the-sky/
Steam has removed a large clutch of games of various genres which all seem to have one thing in common: they were low effort shovelware. That might seem a slightly mean designation, but we've all seen the type of thing that this ban wave targeted. Extremely basic asset-flipped titles with popular words in the name, such as Zombie Defense TD or Play Football, out there just to try and make a few bucks from the unwary.

That might actually not be the cause of GPP. A lot of brands for whatever reason are choosing not to release their flagship GPUs for RDNA 3.

For example, Sapphire who is a Radeon Exclusive brand launched their Sapphire Toxic with RDNA 2 which is supposed to signify their flagship status yet for RDNA 3, they didn't but they had 6900XT Toxic and 6950XT Toxic with RDNA 2. Nvidia's GPP wouldn't affect Sapphire because they don't make any Nvidia GPUs.

If I had to guess, they are waiting for 7950XTX.

EVGA Quitting PC Business? Rumors Allege That All Employees Including KINGPIN Have Resigned From Taiwan HQ

https://wccftech.com/evga-quitting-pc-business-all-employees-including-kingpin-have-resigned/

Unsurprising as once you get rid of 85% of your revenue, you ain't gonna be sticking around for long. Evga certainly have their PSUs and Motherboards but they only really make enthusiast motherboards like the Dark which the Asus Apex has destroyed this gen in terms of OC potential. And their PSUs are while good, there's a lot of competition in the PSU space. While I haven't been as fond of Evga as others as I only ever bought Evga 1080 and the rest have been Asus, their customer service is something that will be sorely missed.

AMD blocking DLSS is pure speculation at this time. Personally it is a legal matter between AMD and NVIDIA concerning DLSS splash screens when booting up games. That is a stipulation that probably has to be followed if you use the tech, it is a game that AMD have helped with and is the sponsor, they should not adhere to bull crap like that. At the end of the day FSR is open source and DLSS is propriety and actions have consequences, propriety only works with the product it was designed for. Seems like a load of self-entitlement from NVIDIA buyers personally, and yet their cards still work with FSR. A load of hot air in my opinion.

How is it pure speculation when Nvidia straight up says they don't block and AMD continues to dodge the question? The HUB video that I posted shows that games that have DLSS do not require Nvidia splash screen or anything of that nature. FSR is open source sure but it's also terrible. Just because a technology is open source doesn't mean it's good and the fact that AMD has a pattern of blocking DLSS while Nvidia not only straight up said they do not block FSR but they created a open source upscaling implementation technology called StreamLine which allows developers to easily implement DLSS/FSR/XeSS into their games. Intel is on board with it yet AMD isn't.

" That is a stipulation that probably has to be followed if you use the tech, it is a game that AMD have helped with and is the sponsor, they should not adhere to bull crap like that. "

By that logic, Nvidia should start blocking FSR in all their games and then you can see who actually loses the most. FSR works on Nvidia GPUs while DLSS does not work on Radeon GPUs. So if Nvidia starts blocking FSR due to AMDs actions, Radeon fans stand to lose to most, especially as Nvidia sponsored 33 games while AMD sponsored 20 games in the same time frame according to HUB. Defenders should start looking at the bigger picture imo.
