First official trailer for the Unreal Engine 5-powered body-cam FPS, Unrecord
https://www.dsogaming.com/videotrailer-news/first-official-trailer-for-the-unreal-engine-5-powered-body-cam-fps-unrecord/
Developer DRAMA has just released the first official gameplay trailer for their upcoming Unreal Engine 5-powered body-cam FPS, Unrecord.
>> I have to say that I'm having a hard time deciding if it's a real gameplay footage from a videogame or an excellently edited video.

Yeah, I can't make heads or tails of that trailer. Until it proves otherwise I'm assuming it's too good to be true.

Indeed. Because, if what they're shwoing is real, then where's the hype for it? Why is no one talking about it when a game like The Day Before managed to be the second most wishlisted game on Steam?

Something is up.

Well I had severe doubts about that Unrecord trailer. Still do to an extent. It's a weird trailer, I'm not sure why faces are censored my instinct was that it was just to hide that it was real footage as a perfect face would be a dead giveaway. But the dude falling over at the end looked very fake video gamey...

On one of the steam screenshots I can see grass clipping through a bookcase so that certainly seems like in-engine.

I'm sure that trailer is BS to some degree and the final product won't look that good but it might not be a complete fabrication.

The faded faces are strange, yes, and they make you think that it's a video. Then there are things like the railings at the beginning, the smoke of the gun, the first corpse that clips with the ground that give it some credibility... but, as we've all said, they could be just post processing effects to give it more credibility.

So it turns out the chipset driver from Asus website was kinda shat. Downloaded the one from AMDs website for X670E and my performance increased by 5-8%. Not a lot sure but considering it was just installing the driver, well worth it.

Goddamn, at this point, could you make a list of all the adjustments I need to make once the parts arrive and build is complete? We'll have almost exactly the same specs, it seems. They still haven't packed and shipped anything, I suspect the 7800X3D is still not in stock. No stress though, my display will be delivered on the 28th at the earliest.

Lol I am finding the quirks of this myself. I do have these occasional driver crashes thanks to Radeon but it's not the biggest of deals since I don't use the iGPU. I did download the driver straight from AMDs website under the 7800X3D support section but X3D is still pretty new so hopefully, it's a bug that will go away with future driver versions.

It can get annoying sometimes though cause once I was in the middle of playing overwatch 2 and then it crashes for no reason and minimizes my game lol. Not the best when you want to do competitive. But again, it's not anything frequent.

It looks like AMD always has troubles when launching new sockets and supporting new memories.

Eh. I think Unrecord is still fairly easy to distinguish from reality, although it does look really good. Still, I think it falls a bit in the uncanny valley. Not sure what causes that though. I suspect it's that things look quite clean for such an environment, and that in turn might contribute to them looking kind of plastic (in a way). Seems like some detail is missing too, but that might also be caused by the 'clean' look.

Also, there's a no clip video for the game, so there's that, if you were still wondering: https://www.pcgamer.com/unrecord-dev-posts-noclip-video-to-prove-the-realistic-bodycam-fps-isnt-fake/

The animation trips me up more than the graphics do; I've never seen a main fps character move like that before. Makes me wonder if this was scripted mocap specifically for this trailer or if this is actually what we can expect from the final game.

It's time for the Friday news!
