If that ends up being legit, Jensen really hates 70 class for whatever reason

If true, Nvidia makes some very questionable decisions.

But that's the problem of going with a 192-bit bus, they either go with 12GB or jump to 24GB, going past 4080's 16GB and tying with the 4090.

I'm surprised AMD is using RDNA3 for such card. Wasn't CDNA cards supposed to be their enterprise/business cards, designed specifically for those markets?

Radeon Pro's have also been RDNA in the past, CDNA is reserved for the Instinct cards.

Now, who knows how different RDNA and CDNA are, but I doubt they're much more different than Hopper-Ada or Turing-Volta despite CDNA ultimately coming from Vega.

Although AMD has the AMD instinct MI250X... AMD hasn't updated the CDNA platform in a few years, so it tops out at 48 Teraflops of single precision performance.

The 7900XTX can peak at 61 Teraflops when boosting/47 Teraflops at base.

It's only if you need Quarter Precision/Double Precision or INT or the insane bandwidth HBM brings that CDNA is worth considering... Which isn't going to be applicable for many use-case scenarios.

This.

Also they are very different.

Different wavefronts, SIMD width, RT cores and a re-tuneing of the entire uArch to better handle gaming rather than compute.

If you don't need the extra horsepower for productivity, then the 7800X3D is a great CPU for gaming, and extremely efficient at it as well.

And Intel didn't fix the problem. Read the article again and you'll see an update confirming that the disconnecting issues still happen. That update tries to mitigate the problem, making it less common, but it still happens.

The 7800X3D is still a great chip for productivity.

- Many tasks these days can be offloaded to GPU's anyway like Encode/Decode/Transcode, so many people don't really miss a high-thread count CPU's if they leverage their PC's hardware appropriately.

I know, but it doesn't help if something causes the data to turn bad happens to the data on one drive. Ransomware is an obvious example, but I wouldn't be surprised if some (possibly rare?) hardware faults could also cause data corruption that simply gets mirrored between the drives. I imagine RAID protects against a sudden loss of a drive, but that's about it. That might be sufficient protection depending on your needs, but I feel like it's important to know the limitations of RAID for backup purposes if you're considering RAID for backups.

Even in non-RAID situations, Ransomware can take down all your drives anyway, I've seen it happen, so RAID or not makes very little difference in that instance.

A NAS however tends to be protected by various networking protocols so it's shielded to a degree.

If there is corruption on a drive, you can usually restore it/repair it.

Hmm, that's true. I didn't even think of that, since my current plan, if I ever get around to doing backups like I should, is to have a backup disk that's disconnected most of the time anyway. Of course that's not exactly convenient.

Or NVidia makes a similar stunt as they did with the GTX 970 and it's 3.5 +0.5GB VRAM

So I will be upgrading to 7800X3D this month as my friend wants to buy my current CPU + Motherboard + Ram setup. So am currently thinking between two motherboards. The ASUS ROG Strix X670E-A or ASUS ProArt X670E-Creator.

The main difference is that the Strix has RGB, an additional USB port and 6 audio ports and is about $50 cheaper where as the creator has 2 USB 4 40Gbps usb-c ports and 10G networking along with it's 2.5G. Which one should I pick or if anyone else has any suggestions on motherboards, I'd appreciate it!

The Pro art one sounds better for the networking adv, and it looks clean as hell in design compared to the Strix model.

If the rest of your parts are in black, go for the pro.

Pretty good card honestly even at $600 but after watching gamers nexus review, I didn't realize how cheap the 6950XT has gotten. If you can snag one of those or a 6900XT instead for around $600 brand new, it would be a better deal imo.

Sounds like the 4070 is basically the slightly better 3080, and by that I mean close to what the Ti model would've been, just like the 1080ti was to the 1080 (not a huge gap between the two, but close enough).

$600 isn't as bad as I'd thought, let's see if it also sticks to that in the GBP region, and then I'll be thinking (since I paid around £600ish for my 1080ti with 12gb, that's about as much as I'd be willing to pay, but for a 70 series that still seems a tad steep).

NVIDIA RTX Remix Runtime available for download in Early Access
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/nvidia-rtx-remix-runtime-early-access-is-available-for-download/
NVIDIA has just launched the NVIDIA RTX Remix Runtime in Early Access. The RTX Remix runtime captures a game scene, and replaces assets at playback while injecting RTX technology, such as path tracing, DLSS 3 and Reflex into the game.
Now before continuing, let’s clarify some things. RTX Remix is composed of two core components that work together to enable modders to remaster classic PC games. These two components are the RTX Remix creator toolkit and a custom RTX Remix runtime. So, right now, only the RTX Remix Runtime is available for download.

Dead Space PSX-style Fan Demake is now available for download

Dead Space fans, here is something for you. Fraser Brumley has created and released a retro-cool PSX-style demake of Dead Space. This is a free fan demake that you can download right now, and we highly recommend doing so.
According to Brumley, this fan game uses Unreal Engine, and features all of the main features of Dead Space. As such, players will be fighting the Necromorphs, and they will be able to dismember them.

Hogwarts Legacy gets an Accurate Dialogue Choices Mod
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/hogwarts-legacy-gets-an-accurate-dialogue-choices-mod/
Modder ‘chaddraganddrop’ has released a must-have mod for Hogwarts Legacy that offers accurate dialogue choices. Thanks to this mod, PC gamers will be able to see what their main character will actually say.
Now in case you didn’t know, Hogwarts Legacy does not offer accurate dialogue choices. Instead, the game includes some vague options to choose from. Similarly to other games, these vague choices can mislead players. However, and thanks to this mod, you can now make the right decisions.

Some of the first non-bugfix mods for The Last of Us give Joel and Ellie a wardrobe worthy of Hot Topic
https://www.pcgamer.com/some-of-the-first-non-bugfix-mods-for-the-last-of-us-give-joel-and-ellie-a-wardrobe-worthy-of-hot-topic/
The Last of Us Part 1 might have come to PC in a less-than-excellent (or hilariously broken) state, but that hasn't stopped the modders from getting to work. While most of the mods for the game since it hit PC have focused on graphical reshades and bugfixes—plus the obligatory 'skip the startup logos' mods—we're starting to see mod creators feel their oats a little and branch out.
Case in point: new clothing collections for Joel and Ellie, that make the protagonists of Naughty Dog's opus look like they've taken a detour through a derelict Target.
