Your next Steam Deck could be a streaming device
https://www.pcgamer.com/your-next-steam-deck-could-be-a-streaming-device/
Valve has been pretty candid about their plans for the Steam Deck, especially around the device's recent release in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong. The company even produced a neat little booklet to formally introduce itself in new territories where Valve isn't a (specific kind of) household name, filled with tidbits and goodies about the Deck's development and future.

Well, that trend is set to continue, because in a recent interview with Famitsu Weekly, Valve designer Greg Coomer let slip a bit of the company's thinking when it comes to new Steam Decks. Most surprisingly, he indicated that one possibility for a "next generation" Steam Deck was that it "might even become a streaming machine," presumably taking advantage of the Steam Link technology that Valve has already poured a lot of time into.

So, what do you think? Yay or nah?

As long as it's not exclusively a streaming device, I'd be fine with it. The biggest selling point of Steam Deck is that you're carrying a portable PC with you. The whole point of it being handheld, like the Switch, is that you're not always going to be at a place where there's an internet connection, but you'll still be able to play your games. Unless they're multiplayer. If the next gen Deck turns into streaming only, you've taken away a major part of the appeal of Steam Deck.

Personally I'd just wait at this point. Valve doing SSD lottery along with Steam Deck being a first gen device means that the sequel should be significantly better. Not to say to avoid the Steam Deck or anything cause it's a great device. But if you already got one, I'd just wait or get something like the GPD Win 4 cause it's much more powerful along with being able to run Windows and having a ton of storage/Ram options.

But we don't need a Steam Deck 2 for optional streaming.

The Steam Deck 1 already is able to Stream via Steam Link, Stadia, Xbox Cloud and PS Now.

The SSD-lottery wouldn't affect me, since the 64GB-model I got reserved doesn't have one

I'm interested in comparing my 512GB-model with a different model, especially the displays and the fans.

Also opening a Steam Deck and adding a SSD could be fun, but it's too risky as long as I only have one of them and I would have to wait several months for a replacement if I brick it. Can't wait that long without playing games on my Steam Deck.

My buddy just told me that he has a 2230-SSD laying around, which we could use for the second Steam Deck... a 256 GB Samsung 981 M.2 2230.

After comparing both Steam Decks I would decide, which one to keep and which one to sell.

A fan-made revival of a long-dead action game gets the official green light from Paradox
https://www.pcgamer.com/a-fan-made-revival-of-a-long-dead-action-game-gets-the-official-green-light-from-paradox/
Four years after being delisted from Steam, multiplayer sidescrolling action game The Showdown Effect is back in a completely fan-made resurrection that's been given official approval by Paradox Interactive.
Paradox released The Showdown Effect in 2013 to decent reviews—we called it "a cheap and cheerful action game that won't win any awards but provides solid knockabout laughs" in our 70% assessment—but it didn't really go anywhere. Player counts tailed off quickly after launch, and in 2018 Paradox pulled the plug and removed it from Steam.
That was the end of it until a couple of years later, when GiuseppeIII (who asked that we not use his real name) got involved. (...)

https://www.pcgamer.com/halo-infinite-junks-splitscreen-co-op-but-forge-finally-arrives-november/
Halo developer 343 Industries has posted a new update about the shooter's future, a roundtable discussion between three of its developers over the areas they're focusing on. The good news is that Forge finally has a release date of November 8, and the bad news is that Halo Infinite will no longer be receiving the option to play the campaign in local split-screen co-op.

Physically, not emotionally toxic: Our favorite space strategy game is adding an entire species of Nasty Little Guys

Paradox has announced a new species DLC coming to Stellaris on September 20: the Toxoids. The teaser trailer for the new add-on ends with the tagline "The End Justifies the Ruins," and playing as them looks to give bonuses for high-risk, aggressive play that destroys planetary environments for the sake of industry. Basically, you're playing as the bad guys from every sci-fi story. Environmentalist parables? Who needs 'em, we have heavy industry and Toxic Baths.

What's going on with Metal Gear Solid remasters, exactly?

Battlefield 2042 has a dark mode for flashbangs
https://www.pcgamer.com/battlefield-2042-has-a-dark-mode-for-flashbangs/
Every few months, someone points out that videogame lamps use real electricity, and another round of people go "huh, I guess that is true, isn't it?" It shouldn't be a surprising observation, because displaying anything on a screen requires electricity (with caveats), and yet there's an eeriness to the idea. It's slightly strange when virtual worlds seem to cross into the physical world like that. I don't know if there's a term for the phenomenon, so I'll call it "glure," which stands for "game lamps use real electricity." (Be glad I didn't go with "ludolūcēs consonance" or something.)

Killer vacuum game Justice Sucks is out this month
https://www.pcgamer.com/killer-vacuum-game-justice-sucks-is-out-this-month/
Cleaning up the mess in stealth games can be a real hassle. Nobody wants to waste a precious water arrow washing away blood when you could be using it to put out a torch so you can stab the next guard. Plus you gotta dump the body somewhere it won't be found, and the bathtub already has five corpses in it. Here's the solution: be a vacuum cleaner.
That's the concept of Justice Sucks: Tactical Vacuum Action, an upcoming stealth game where you're a roomba who is also an assassin. Building on a small experimental game developers Samurai Punk released as Roombo: First Blood back in 2019, it combines the sneak-murdering fun of Dishonored with the satisfaction of tidying up.

Domina has been delisted from Steam after yet another transphobic diatribe

Domina has been delisted from Steam after its developer—Dolphin Barn Incorporated—once again used the game's patch notes as a political soapbox, this time to post a transphobic screed. Visitors to Domina's Steam page will find a notice stating, "At the request of the publisher, Domina is no longer available for sale on Steam" in place of the usual option to purchase the game.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X CPU Cinebench R23 Benchmark Leaked, Up To 34% Faster Single-Core & 50% Faster Multi-Core Uplift Versus 5950X

You can check how it does against other CPUs in the article. It's just slightly slower than 13900k leaks. Take it with a grain of salt for both.

AMD Ryzen 7000 CPU Undervolting Can Leave A Lot of Frequency & TDP Headroom, Also Drops Temps Signficantly

https://wccftech.com/amd-ryzen-7000-cpu-undervolting-signficant-thermal-power-performance-headroom/

As these are all ES samples and there will be a ton of BIOS updates at launch, in theory, retail samples should hopefully have better voltage configs cause the ES samples are configured very high out of the box if it can be solved with undervolting. Of course in their attempts, they did lose 700 mhz single core as more voltage is required to hit that 5.7Ghz that AMD is advertising in the ES sample.

A770? Wasn't that supposed to be the 3070 competitor? Raja at it again!

Wasn't the 770 supposed to be like a special edition of the 750? In any case, their only card on sale right now is the 380 and, by the time the others hit the market, we may already have AMD and Nvidia's new mid-range cards.

*Edit* My bad, I mixed the 770 with the 780.

And it would be a nice surprise to find that the final zen4 processors ship with lower voltages and run less hot than those ES chips the leakers have been using. But I don't know how probable is that.

Crazy prices. I think if the 3080 Ti manages to go down to around $600 or below and you are thinking to get a 4070, it might be a good idea to buy a 3080 Ti instead. While the 3080 Ti will be more power hungry, imo it will be faster than a 4070 at higher resolutions not to mention, you don't have to deal with scalpers.
