S I'm wanting to play corssplay MC with an artist friend who happens to play it on his PS4. Now I can already play with him via my Switch, but it's laggy af from my end, both in terms of Switch perf and network.

I want to play with him via Bedrock edition, but here's where the usual MS haystack issue arises;

I uninstalled the old MC launcher (which was apparently called the MC "unified launcher") and all that was left was the new one. It still has my Java ver installed which is dandy and it's left that alone for the most part.

I've migrated my MJ account to my Xbox one, since they were going to enforce that anyway. I'm trying to use the new launcher to install and play Bedrock edition, so I can actually do the crossplay part, but the big ol problem is, that I cannot get Bedrock edition to install, because it constantly says "idle" in the download bar, and then I get this if I try to reboot the launcher:

I honestly have no idea how to resolve this issue, because as usual, MS has something going on, that should otherwise be a simple task. It lets me choose where to install the game, but it won't do anything, and I've even tried going to the Win 10 store, and launch it from there, but the same issue persists.

Why is this so hard?. Why can't I download, install and launch a game when it comes to MS?. I can install practically any game on Steam and launch them fine (unless it's a super ancient game that doesn't support modern OS's or is a really shoddy port).

My last solution, is to flat out uninstall the launcher entirely and try to re-download it from the Win 10 store, and hope to god that it will let me fucking download Bedrock edition. I wish MS hadn't fucked around with Bedrock, because 2 yrs ago, I was able to install it as it's own app, without the need for the Java version launcher, but now they won't allow you to do that and I'm stuck with this weird ass mess. MS tech support spew the usual shit of "uPdAtE uR dRiVeRs", even though I'm always up to date on fucking everything, and that hardly ever resolves issues for me.

I hate UWP...god I really do.

You definitely don't need a top of the line PC to run Guardians though, it's pretty crazy how good it runs. I've been getting 40-50fps at 1440p Ultra settings on a GTX 1060, which is considered the "minimum" required GPU to run the game. I have friends with worse GPUs that've bought it and are enjoying their time without major issues, too.

Think it's more of a thing with the Japanese side of Square Enix rather than every game they publish. I haven't tried FFVIIR yet but I played Nier: Automata last year and that ran way worse than it should've.

Yea Guardians runs pretty well. I was mainly referencing how terrible Halo's performance was on PC.

Could be language barrier. You couldn't understand me in sign up thread too. Can't help you with that.

More likely it was just a humor barrier, but anyhow, nice talking to you.

Pleasure, likewise.

You worry me, guys. It's obvious you haven't played enough "find X differences between this two pics" games, otherwise you would pay more attention to details like that one.

It's always been Carzy to me.

Good. Paying attention is crucial.

Just finished a big boy repair to my rig. One of my 2070's fans was failing and making really annoying noises. Took the gpu out and grabbed the screwdriver. Removing the shroud and disconnecting the fan and led cables was surprisingly difficult and I ended up just cutting one of the plastic fasteners rather than have to disassemble the heatsink to get to it (thanks, Gigabyte...). Once that was finally off I wasn't sure which method was the proper one to oil these fans. Peeling stickers didn't reveal anything and trying to pop the problem fan off just ended up damaging it beyond repair (apparently I should have used the thumbtack method). So I was SOL for a month while some replacement fans shipped from overseas. I was running the card shroudless in the meantime but at least the noise was gone! The new fans arrived the other day so I went to work swapping them out and reversing the process. Getting the cables plugged back in was super cramped and tricky but I eventually got everything back how it was more or less supposed to be, remounted my gpu, and crossed my fingers. Fortunately the repair seems to be a success and my rig is once again cool and quiet (crazy what a difference some air flow can make to temps). Hopefully this hassle will prolong the life of my gpu until I presumably upgrade to a 4000 series card and this can go in a secondary rig.

I'm impressed, I wouldn't even dare to do that. Congratulations for your success.

Until we have a good solution to Covid, the shortages won't stop. Every time a new covid variant comes out and starts spreading, it's basically a "Reset the clock" moment as countries start locking things down. Once we have a proper solution to covid, however many years that may take, things will start normalizing. But till then, it will be very supply constraint as the logistics get fucked.

It's not that simple. The problems that led to this situation were water shortages in Taiwan which (which I don't know if it's been resolved or not) affected TSMC's output, a lot of companies and workers getting new servers/computers to work remotely, crypto mining and smartphones/IoT devices.

Of those, the renewal of server/computers to work remotely has already been done and isn't much of a problem nowadays, something that can be seen given that CPU prices have fallen down to MSRP or lower. The water problems in Taiwan are still a thing, and that affects production. How long will they last? Unknown. Miners are still a plague and smartphones/IoT won't go anywhere.

So, how long will the shortages last? Sadly, no one really knows.

Also whats the deal with MC VA change? I digress, think its time to bury the hatchet again for the franchise again. At least until MS gives the reins to someone who can do the franchise justice. Actually.. I think I'm done, the fight was already finished at H3.

That's a common problem with some franchises. They were originally designed to last two or three games but, because of its success or brand appeal, the publishers decided to make more of them, and that's when we run into problems with the plot/story.

Other known examples are Assassin's Creed or Mass Effect.

Havent played that much PC gaming this year.

Only finished Batman Arkham Origins. I still liked City and Asylum more.

Currently playing through Final Fantasy V (original remaster) on Steam.

Gonna be playing Tekken 7 soon once I'm done with FFV since I got all the DLCs on Tekken 7 now.

Welcome back! I passed on Origins despite owning it - not a massive fan of prequels. Would you say its worth playing? Still have to get around to completing Arkham Knight (which is fantastic btw) before the new one comes out next year.

@JEMC I looked it up and MC is the same VA (Steve Downs). He just sounds so different.. like, almost unrecognizable. I suppose he's in his 70 now. Idd tbf Halo has been a mainstay for Xbox and Microsoft. Being a bit of a fan in the older days (and I loved Bungie games back in the day), this one didn't do much to move the needle for me. Though the game was fun to play - which is the main thing.

But yeah think it was the sequelitis effect. Maybe something for newer fans of the series. I'd throw in another movie analogy and say the story is like the Star War films. Post trilogy/George Lucus films. Talking about sequels, I hope Matrix 4 is going to be good and I'm planning to to watch it on new years

Star Wars would be a great analogy because both are made by a different studio and written by different people.

And I have no hope for Matrix 4. Then again, I only watched the first one and saved myself from the disasters that were the other two.

Oh man, you're lucky! Wish I could forget Reloaded and Revolutions. Matrix was a perfect film on its own.

I'm cautiously optimistic, and daresay excited and still watching it in the pictures because I'm a bit of a fan of Keanu Reeves's films lol.

Nice. Will have to give it a go at some point. Still have a few games I have in Rotation I need to get around and finishing including FFVII Remake - though I think I will start a new playthrough as its been a while since I played it.

And that sounds pretty cool. Quite like the comics/movies then when he was more of a unknown and vigilante. Bonus that it has more Joker in it, who is probably my favourite DC villain. If its anything like the Killing Joke or something along those lines, I'm sure I'll enjoy it. And the festivity is quite fitting for now heh.

Yeah I've not tried any of the spinoffs as I like to stick to mainline. It does look interesting though, but I get the hesitation lol. Think you actually inspired me start playing the games again. I'm thinking of starting from Origins and working through the games until Arkham Knight and then play Suicide Squad and Arkham Knights next year.

Yeah I think we're all a little guilty of this. Backlog keeps building and there's only so much time to play games xD

I got it on PS4. And yeah you get the free upgrade patch for it on PS5. Basically you get to claim the PS5 version as download off PSN when it recognises the disc. Though you gotta pay for that Yuffie DLC separately. And ditto for the KH series; still on my backburner list on PS4.

True, love the gameplay. There's something about taking out bad guys in stealth and the meaty combat; between his actrobatic combos and utilising all his gadgets thats oh so satisfying to play/watch. And yeah I think you'll really enjoy Arkham Knight. For me its on par with City and you get a Batmobile to control which was pretty awesome.

Cool, yeah its a decent series. I can't wait for the new games. More of the Bat family is always a good thing. Wonder where they'll go after that.. I'd love if they made a transition to Batman Beyond much like the Spiderman games on PS4.
