Ok, I admit I didn't believe that Konami would bring MGS to PC. I was wrong.

Now the question will be if the game (and the ports) are worth buying or not.

Yee of little faith, after Rising did well it was a shoe in that they would bring it over IMO. Hopefull Silent Hills comes over as well, tho there is a chance that is PS4 exclusive I guess.

It's time to meet Runemaster: a tactical Viking RPG from the makers of Crusader Kings

Comments1

Our Rob has long said that Europa Universalis IV played like an RPG in which you rolled as a country. Paradox Development Studio seem to have taken that observation to heart, graduating from grand strategy to straight-up fantasy roleplaying in Runemaster.

Fine-tune the hair on your chinny-chin-chin in The Sims 4 Create-a-Sim demo

Comment

There’ll be an aspect of The Sims you like best. Perhaps it’s building houses held up only by glass panes and willpower. Or maybe it’s building people.

That’s what the Create-a-Sim demo for The Sims 4 is all about - designing humans. Deciding on the cut of their jibs, deigning to pick their outfits, and determining their fatal flaws.

Hearthstone's Construct Quarter now open to Curse of Naxxramas players

Comments1

The Curse of Naxxramas isn’t one of those flash, bang, now-you’re-a-frog hexes. It’s more of a slow-burn spell, unfolding its horrors week-by-week to Hearthstone players.

This week’s wing is the Construct Quarter: a gunge-powered laboratory patrolled by stitched-together new minions.

Assassin's Creed: Unity microtransactions won't "compromise" its Parisian parkour fun

Comments5

Assassin’s Creed has long been subject to the trends on the peripheral of big budget action games. Black Flag had a companion app and progress-quickening bundles available on its store - but Unity won’t travel any deeper down the microtransaction hole.

Galactic Civilizations III beta: now it's getting fun

Comments2

Galactic Civilizations III, Stardock's ginormous 4X flagship, has been in Early Access since March. Today it makes the move into beta. Starting up a game immediately evokes memories of its predecessor. At first, it looks, if not identical, at least so similar that it feels like coming back to Galactic Civilizations II. That’s not a bad thing, and it’s by design.

“I’m hoping people will play GalCiv 3 beta and they’ll get the same feeling as GalCiv 2 and then they can go ‘wow this is going to be even better when it’s done’,” lead designer Paul Boyer told me earlier this week.

But peeling back that familiar surface reveals a game that is very much new. So new it’s not yet finished, and there are still missing features - most coming in later beta phases - like diplomacy, but also new because Stardock have managed to make some significant changes to the formula. And it looks like it’s paying off.

Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade trailer promises a lot of war, a whole planet of it

Comment

In the 41st millenium, diplomacy is saying hello before you shoot an alien in the face. Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade won’t be an MMO where you can avoid conflict, with its five warring factions including the Space Marines and the Tyranids.

Even the planet it takes place on, Arkhona, is in a constant state of war. But it’s got mysteries and secrets, apparently, which is a good enough reason as any other to fight over it with guns and dark magic.

Developer Behaviour Interactive has put together a trailer to get you up to speed on the many activities (mainly killing aliens, though) you can get up to on your holiday in warn-torn Arkhona.

Is there a land filled with goblins and gold on the other side?

Patch 2.1.0 finally reveals what is through the portal: the Vault.

There's quite a bit of reckless driving in this trailer for The Crew

While there’s something presumably appealing about driving the breadth of the USA - an activity described in great detail in countless novels, accounts, films and songs - Ivory Tower’s massive driving game, The Crew, features quite a bit to do in between enjoying a brisk drive across an entire country.

Most of involves smashing into things and driving really fast.

Invisible, Inc. - not be confused with the stealthy calligraphers tool - is due to hit Steam Early Access on August 19th. And if the prospect of controlling a group of spies across procedurally generated levels as they gather intel and make guards go to sleep, then this is possibly exceedingly good news.

It’s also absolutely gorgeous, as evidenced by the new Early Access trailer.

Want to go higher? The Elder Scrolls Online update 4 will introduce Upper Craglorn

Comment

To stop veterans from becoming degenerate drunks or tiresome bores who do nothing but send people to sleep with tales of long forgotten deeds, ZeniMax Online added the veteran adventure zone of Craglorn to The Elder Scrolls Online. Those who completed its quests, delves and trials are no doubt wondering what’s next. With Craglorn conquered, what other realm is filled with things needing a good smacking?

But hold your horses (or silt striders), you’re not finished with Craglorn yet. There’s still Upper Craglorn to get through. And it’s coming this September with Update 4.

Cities: Skylines is a simulator sequel with "sprawling" maps and mod support

Comments1

Did you know the developers who make the Cities games are called Colossal Order? That’s what these games are about: bringing some semblance of design to a sprawling set of systems.

Maxis’ SimCity reboot didn’t exactly go off without a honking tree or two, which gives the Finnish studio another couple of years to establish the Cities series as the alternate mayoral simulator. Cities: Skylines is their latest attempt at that.

Unity assassinations will be choice-driven: "We give you an objective, and that's it"

Comment

Notre Dame turns out to be one of the better Assassin’s Creed missions: one of those that dress you only in the figleaf of an objective, and offer plenty of ways at it. Ubisoft Montreal say all assassinations in Unity will be structured this way - within a mission type the studio have now codified as ‘black boxes’.

PES 2015 on PC won't be quite the same game as on new-gen consoles

Comments4

Football Manager was born and belongs on the PC - but actual ball-kicking simulators have been hamstrung lately by a tendency to limp along behind their console equivalents.

In an odd year where developers are straddling consoles old and new, PES 2015 will continue that trend. On PC, it’ll be a “hybrid” of its current and last generation console versions.
