A 3GHz card barely keeping up with a 2GHz card. I know you shouldn't compare clockspeeds across architectures, but holy shit they want to really prove it this time. So AMD still only knows how to do things fast but not how to do them well.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Wait, 3060 Ti reviews are coming in? Has the card even been officially announced before this day? I mean there were certainly rumours, but the next step from rumours are reviews? Is it always like this and I just haven't been following things (because I really haven't)?

The Tuesday news arrive like yesterday's: late again and all in one post:

SOFTWARE & DRIVERS

AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin 20.11.3 driver adds official support for Vulkan Ray Tracing
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/amd-radeon-software-adrenalin-20-11-3-driver-adds-official-support-for-vulkan-ray-tracing/
AMD has released a brand new driver for its graphics cards. According to the release notes, the AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin 20.11.3 driver adds official support for Vulkan Ray Tracing.
Moreover, this new driver offers optimal performance in Immortals: Fenyx Rising. However, and as we’ve reported, this game already performs great on AMD’s hardware.
Additionally, this driver fixes a number of bugs and issues. For instance, it fixes some corruption issues on character models in Crysis Remastered on Radeon RX 6800 Series graphics products. It also fixes some intermittent crashes in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War with DirectX Raytracing.

MODS, EMULATORS & FAN PROJECTS

First Nude Mod released for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/first-nude-mod-released-for-assassins-creed-valhalla/
Well, I’m pretty sure most of you already saw that coming. It’s been a while since our last Nude Mod article soooooo… *drum roll*… here is a nude mod for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
This first mod removes the bra and underpants from the female Eivor. Its initial version could only remove the bra (that’s why the mod is called Braless). However, the modder has updated it so that it can also remove her underpants.
Now I do have to note that this is the first nude mod for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. As such, it’s not perfect and there might be some minor issues with it. For instance, Eivor’s nipples are not popping out as you’d expect. Still, we are certain that some of you will find this mod interesting.
>> As per usual, no links were provided. You'll have to look for it at Nexus Mods.

World's oldest flyable plane modded into Microsoft Flight Simulator
https://www.pcgamer.com/worlds-oldest-flyable-plane-modded-into-microsoft-flight-simulator/
While Microsoft Flight Simulator uses a lot of new technology to bring you a simulated planet, there's something awesome about old technology, too. You can combine them both with this mod for Microsoft Flight Simulator, which recreates the world's oldest flyable aircraft: the glorious Blériot XI, which is over a hundred and ten years old.
It's probably not gonna be as easy as flying a Cessna—though the Bleriot XI is indeed still flyable today, this thing has bicycle wheels. To start it up, you have to stand in front of the plane and physically grab and yank the propeller so it starts spinning. To turn while flying, you have to use wires to pull on the wings and actually change their shape. This is all realistically simulated by the Blériot XI mod, which was created by the modders at Wing42.
And the mod even includes the creator, Louis Blériot himself, sitting in the cockpit in all his mustachioed glory.
>> First we had Godzilla, now we have old planes. I can sense that in the future we'll see King Kong on the Empire State Building with those Curtiss biplanes flying around it.

Secret Neighbor developer Hologryph gets a $3 million investment from Tinybuild
https://www.pcgamer.com/secret-neighbor-developer-hologryph-gets-a-dollar3-million-investment-from-tinybuild/
Back in June, publisher Tinybuild acquired the development team behind the hit franchise Hello Neighbor. Presumably to keep everything under one roof, they've also invested in Hologryph, the team behind Hello Neighbor's multiplayer spinoff Secret Neighbor. With this investment, TinyBuild becomes a majority stakeholder, and the money itself will be used for a new IP for next-gen consoles.

Cyberpunk 2077 preorders 'visibly higher' than any Witcher game

During CD Projekt Red's Q3 2020 earnings call, the one where the company assured shareholders the game was really, really going to release on December 10, the company's chief financial officer Piotr Nielubowicz disclosed an interesting tidbit about the volume of Cyberpunk 2077 preorders, calling them "visibly higher" than any Witcher title, referring to a slide that was shown during the earnings call.

https://www.pcgamer.com/swerys-the-good-life-is-now-on-steam-but-wont-be-out-until-2021/
Hidetaka "Swery" Suehiro, the director of Deadly Premonition and D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die, announced The Good Life in 2017 with a trailer teasing life in the "happiest town in the world," whose residents, for reasons that weren't entirely clear, all turn into cats and dogs at night. There's also a murder, which leaves the body of a mysterious woman floating in a lake—with a sword driven through her torso, giving it all a bit of an out-of-nowhere Arthurian twist.

Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War players grinding for weapon camos can rest easy. Fall Guys is adding penguins and a Christmas bell that will inevitably be named Ringus Dingus
https://www.pcgamer.com/fall-guys-is-adding-penguins-and-a-christmas-bell-that-will-inevitably-be-named-ringus-dingus/
The slightly exhausting Fall Guys Twitter account is running a poll to name one of the game's upcoming festive elements, a big swinging bell. The four options are Ringus Dingus, Slay Bell, Swingding (I think this is when they gave up on the names) and Swinging Belle. At the time of writing Ringus Dingus is 'winning' with around 50% of the vote, because of course it is.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection's PC future will include additional mod support and some cut Halo 4 designs
https://www.pcgamer.com/halo-the-master-chief-collections-pc-future-will-include-additional-mod-support-and-some-cut-halo-4-designs/
On November 17, Halo 4 arrived on PC—the final part of The Master Chief Collection and the end of a genuinely impressive run from 343 Industries. Since releasing in December 2019 with only Halo: Reach, the MCC has added Halos 1 through 4 and the excellent spinoff Halo 3: ODST in rapid succession, an achievement even more impressive in a year of remote working.
An update for MCC has been released with various minor bugfixes, accompanied by some notes from 343 Industries on what happens now that the package is content-complete. The Halo 4 launch came with the introduction of cross-play for PC and Xbox players in multiplayer, custom games, Forge mode, and the co-op Firefight mode. This feature doesn't currently support the various campaigns and, according to 343's Dana Jerpback, that's unlikely though not impossible.

I'm affraid to tell you that yeah, you weren't really paying enough attention. These cards were announced, delayed and have now finally launched.

The next cards should be the 3060, the 3080 20GB (because the rumors about it have come back after an EEC listing) or the still rumored 3080Ti.

In some ways, AMD GPUs are like Intel CPUs

Relies on old technology
Downplays new technology
Shady Marketing
Pushes frequencies to the max in order to brute force architectural deficiencies

The good news is, AMD's gen on gen improvements are quite impressive so there's certainly some hope for the future. We will see though.

I'd be amazed if AMD can keep those speeds in RDNA3, because I very much doubt that.

Alright I gotta ask.

Why so restrictive when it comes to wattage? And what would be an acceptable wattage for your build?

Looks like you'll have to wait for a 3060 or a 6700, unless you can find an RTX 2060 at a good price now that the successor is close to launch.
