Depends on the resolution. A 1660Ti could be fine for 1080p for the time being. The 6GB of memory will become a problem in the future.

I aim for high settings and then just as high res as I can go and maintain 60fps (or close enough freesync makes it unnoticeable). So Far Cry 5 I ran at 70% scale (~1512p) on my 4k monitor. Hitman I can hit 4k60 if I turn SSAO off. Eventually I'll have to start making compromises but it's probably not until I can't run 1440p at medium settings that I'll start thinking about upgrading.

So I bought an Xbox Series controller to use with my PC thinking it'd be like plug and play, but now I find myself downloading a couple of Windows apps - developer mode and installing the packages manually since the store is dead - and updating firmware in the controller through USB cables. I guess that's MS idea of friendly interfaces nowadays. At least I got two free weeks of Gamepass.

Bought the same. Only got it to work through usb cable so far. Was using Xbox 360 controller till now which is working great. Why i had to buy this.

Get all the 20H2 Windows updates, it should work then.

The Tuesday news:

SALES /PLAYER COUNT & DEALS

Crusader Kings 3 sold more than a million copies, pushes Paradox profits up by 102%
https://www.pcgamer.com/crusader-kings-3-sold-more-than-a-million-copies-pushes-paradox-profits-up-by-102/
Paradox Interactive today gave an interim report on its financial results for the latest quarter, as well as the year so far. And, even given the fact everyone's been stuck indoors for most of the year, they're pretty stunning.
A quick note that these results are in Swedish SEK, and MSEK means a million SEK. For the last quarter revenues increased by 75% while "operating profit amounted to MSEK 187.7 [$21.8 million] (MSEK 93.1 [$10.8 million]), an increase by 102 %." This rise is attributed primarily to Cities: Skylines, Crusader Kings III, Europa Universalis IV, Hearts of Iron IV and Stellaris.
Looking at the first nine months of the year so far: revenue was up 50% to just under $160 million, while profits are just over $64 million, up 78% on the equivalent period in 2019. The results also mention that, overall, Paradox now has a cool $70 million in cash.

Shades of Iron is an excessively vast content pack of brand new armour, weapons, and new enemies. According to the team, this content does not replace any of the default content. Instead, it adds new additional content to the game.
Going into more details, Shades of Iron features a total of 542 brand new fully functional items and over 125 brand new enemies. It also packs 26 new armor sets and 36 new weapons.
Armour comes with newly introduced mechanics, enabling further character customization. Not only that, but all armor sets come with fully simulated cloth physics. Additionally, this mod brings some changes to the weapons. For instance, spears have increased reach, greatswords are slower & deadly, and daggers are fast and unforgiving.

Fallout 4 gets Snake-level stealth with the Metal Gear Solid cardboard box mod
https://www.pcgamer.com/fallout-4-gets-snake-level-stealth-with-the-metal-gear-solid-cardboard-box-mod/
Sometimes the best answer to a high-tech problem is a low-tech solution. Solid Snake showed us that when it comes to stealth, a simple cardboard box is all you need to bamboozle enemy guards, and now you can use a cunning corrugated container in Fallout 4.
The Metal Gear Solid Cardboard Box mod gives you a comically large box to hide in as you scuttle your way across The Commonwealth. Equip it with your Pipboy as an apparel item and say goodbye to shadowed armor and Stealth Boys. It's time to get old-school, Snake-level sneaky.

Call Of Duty: Warzone is getting an in-game bomb drone
https://www.pcgamer.com/call-of-duty-warzone-is-getting-an-in-game-bomb-drone/
Strapping C4 to anything that moves has been a time-honoured tradition in Call Of Duty, and nowhere is that as obvious as in Call of Duty: Warzone, where players have been using C4 to such, er, bombastic effect that Infinity Ward had to go and nerf its throw range and add a delay to detonation time.
Players have been strapping C4 to trucks to blow up tanks with, throwing it to take jets out of the sky and, perhaps most famously, been strapping it to drones piloted by their friends to catch people unawares. Now a Redditor has discovered a bomb drone during a private match, causing several commenters to respond to the tune of "wow, wonder where that idea came from."

https://www.pcgamer.com/microsoft-will-not-make-bethesda-games-exclusive-to-xbox-yet-but-wants-to-offer-the-best-version-of-them/
Speaking at the Jefferies Interactive Entertainment conference, Xbox chief financial officer Tim Stuart talked about the company's plans of growing their customer base, especially following its large acquisition of Bethesda. A transcription of the whole talk is available at Seeking Alpha. When asked whether the strategy going forth would be to make Bethesda games Xbox- and PC-exclusive or whether Microsoft would still support cross-platform play, Stuart said Microsoft doesn't have intentions "of just pulling all of Bethesda content out of Sony or Nintendo or otherwise."

Baby Yoda joins Minecraft in new Star Wars crossover
https://www.pcgamer.com/baby-yoda-joins-minecraft-in-new-star-wars-crossover/
Hrrrm! DLC focused on the original Star Wars trilogy, push my buttons it does. Today Minecraft announced a new Star Wars crossover, available now on the marketplace, that adds content from A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi, as well as The Mandalorian. Yes, there's a voxel Baby Yoda.

Hearthstone players accuse Blizzard of misleading them about Tavern Pass gold rewards
https://www.pcgamer.com/hearthstone-players-accuse-blizzard-of-misleading-them-about-tavern-pass-gold-rewards/
When Blizzard revealed an upcoming battle pass-style overhaul to Hearthstone's reward system in October, it reassured players that it would not cut into the amount of gold they could earn through gameplay.
(...)
The Tavern Pass, which sells for $20, recently went live, and unfortunately it seems that those concerns were well founded. Despite Blizzard's reassurances about the same or better rewards, a large number of players have found the opposite to be the case.

Atlas Rogues reveals a first look at its turn-based PvE gameplay
https://www.pcgamer.com/atlas-rogues-reveals-a-first-look-at-its-turn-based-pve-gameplay/

Today it announced that the game will debut on Steam Early Access on November 18, and dropped the first trailer revealing what it will actually look like in action.

THQ Nordic squashes TimeSplitters 2 remake rumor
https://www.pcgamer.com/thq-nordic-squashes-timesplitters-2-remake-rumor/
You may have heard recently that a TimeSplitters 2 remake is in the works, a rumor spurred by a reference to the game in THQ Nordic's strategy-RPG Spellforce 3: Fallen God. "It's finally coming!" the item description for a TimeSplitters 2 box states. "The iconic shooter, which has crossed time to reach the era of modern games."
(...)
Unfortunately, it looks like the whole thing is a red herring. "This is just an innocent Easter egg," a THQ Nordic rep told Eurogamer. "The vendor in the game is a character known especially for not telling the truth."

WoW's largest add-on repository is disabling updates during Shadowlands' launch
https://www.pcgamer.com/wows-largest-add-on-repository-is-disabling-updates-during-shadowlands-launch/

New Overwatch 'priority pass' system will reward players of less popular roles, and reduce queue times for everyone
https://www.pcgamer.com/new-overwatch-priority-pass-system-will-reward-players-of-less-popular-roles-and-reduce-queue-times-for-everyone/
Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan has announced a new addition to the game's matchmaking experience: the priority pass. Essentially a way for the game to assemble balanced teams more quickly, the system rewards those willing to play the less-popular roles, by giving them tickets that will later allow a little bit of queue-jumping.

Trine 4 is off to dreamland in the Melody of Mystery DLC
https://www.pcgamer.com/trine-4-for-is-off-to-dreamland-in-the-melody-of-mystery-dlc/
Trine's trio of heroes, the wizard Amadeus, Pontius the knight and Zoya the thief, need to help out at the Astral Academy once again in Trine 4's upcoming Melody of Mystery DLC. While the new story campaign is sticking to the main game's theme of dreams, rather than saving the world from nightmares, this time you'll visit imaginary worlds that seem too good to be true—think softly rolling hills dotted with cabbages (yes, cabbages, who doesn't dream of those) and candy mountains below fluffy clouds.

Bioware releases new artwork from the next Mass Effect
https://www.pcgamer.com/more-artwork-for-the-next-mass-effect-appears/
On N7 Day, Bioware released a single teaser image for the next Mass Effect, and we went over it and the ensuing fan theories with a fine-tooth comb. Today saw the release of BioWare: Stories and Secrets from 25 Years of Game Development, a massive coffee table book published by Dark Horse, and it includes another small teaser for the next game in the series. A Tumblr user already got their hands on it and posted pictures of the three new pieces of artwork in the book, plus the already available 'mud-skipper' teaser image.

Phasmophobia's developer knows the dirty water objective is a cruel joke
https://www.pcgamer.com/phasmophobias-developer-knows-the-dirty-water-objective-is-a-cruel-joke/
Phasmophobia is one of my favourite games of the year, a unique and brilliantly judged co-op ghost hunting experience. But even then, it has flaws, and one in particular is so comical it's equal parts beloved and hated by players: 'Capture a photo of Dirty Water in a sink.'

Don't expect Halo Infinite at The Game Awards this year
https://www.pcgamer.com/dont-expect-halo-infinite-at-the-game-awards-this-year/
Following its delay until 2021, the hunger for Halo Infinite news is only increasing. Over on r/halo, users started speculating that The Game Awards on December 10 would be a perfect opportunity for 343 Industries to show off some progress—but it looks like they'll be disappointed. 343 community director Brian Jarrad was quick to manage expectations.

"AMD isn’t planning to bring Smart Access Memory to older hardware"

https://www.kitguru.net/components/graphic-cards/joao-silva/amd-isnt-planning-to-bring-smart-access-memory-to-older-hardware/

Since we know from both Nvidia and PCI-E spec that this isn't something that's a hardware limitation, the only reason for AMD to not support their older cpus is because they don't want to. It is amusing to see the moment they become ahead, they start doing nonsense like this. Very cool AMD...

Well, I'm not sure if that card can run DLSS or if it's limited to RTX cards, but if it can it will help you a lot.

Makes my decision of going Nvidia easier at least There's no technical reason why they can't support it. Like their official stance on support for Zen 3 on 'legacy' motherboards on the same AM4 socket

I mean it already works on Linux and doesn't require a Zen 3 or Navi 2x card. https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/jk76u9/smart_access_memory_already_works_on_linux_and_is/

Also I have decided to go with 5800x instead of 5900x. As the 5800x has 8 cores per CCX, in theory, games that require more than 6 cores could perform better on the 5800x than 5900x. Also both Anandtech and GN has 5800x performing better in quite a few gaming benchmarks than 5900x and for the ones where it doesn't, it's typically on par.

6800 XT Ray Tracing performance leak

Looks about 2080 Ti performance for most games when comparing to benchmarks from other websites. Some games faster than 2080 Ti but not near 3080 levels. Take it with a grain of salt.
