Since we know from both Nvidia and PCI-E spec that this isn't something that's a hardware limitation, the only reason for AMD to not support their older cpus is because they don't want to. It is amusing to see the moment they become ahead, they start doing nonsense like this. Very cool AMD...

They want to sell new hardware. Understandable but still very questinable.
